Bug, I feel the same as you. I'm not ready to take the risk myself, but would split the risk with others. When I mentioned $900, which seems OK, he wasn't fired up to go for it. If I threw $900 in his face, he might change his mind. He also has a pretty good pile of factory sets 83 - 87, and I have eye balled them. Most of the stuff looks clean, but who knows. He has quiet a few 84 factory sets also. I don't know that he'd take $900 for the rack case, just wondering who'd be in if I could do it.
Bug if I remember right, you are somewhat local to me. We could bust the case ourselves and hoard all the tens for ourselves

If I sell the 81 Coke Yaz 10 that I just got back from PSA, for what the last one sold for, I'll have a little spending room for either the 84(possible) or 85 case. The last 81 coke Yaz sold for $355, so even if I get alot less that'd help. I like the 84's more and it'll always be my first love, the 85's are hard to ignore with the clemens and puckett, and those black borders are oh so challenging

Does anyone know how many rack boxes are in the rack case? If you could make it a four way split I would be willing to jump in with Arny and the Bug..

$300 each is what I was hoping for, but I'm not sure if that'll get it. I am not going higher than 325 each, and taht is before I ship out. It may not be doable based on how he is talking. Anymore than that, I'll buy the whole case of 85s for myself. I'll run $950 across 'em, but I don't know

If I rmember correctly Donruss racks came loose in the rack case with no boxes.

I have the two Slatons back from psa, and the second is for sale. The one for sale is a psa10 cert #06420005. I have not decided on a price yet. What does everyone think is fair? I'm not looking to score, just fair price. Hoping to get some feedback from everyone here. I have little idea, as most of mine are self submits lately, and haven't been watching ebay much. I know 10s usually go for 15 to 25, with low pops going higher. These are still the only two, one stays with me, the other to one of you.

I will also take trades for PSA 9 or better of any 84 or 85 donruss, or 84 fleer update that are not listed in my sets on the registry.

Bug gets first crack, then arny, then ebay.

I've upgraded probably about 15-20 cards recently to 10s. So, I have some 9s that I'll have available soon in my eBay store. But, I'll post them here first. Of course, my boy Al gets first shot, but if he doesn't need them, then you are up after him.

Noticed in the pop report two cards listed for Fred Lynn; card #108 which is probably what everybody has, and then #218 which is the card of Dave Beard but also lists Fred Lynn. Is this a variation/error in the Donruss product or just a psa grading error? If it's a legit error I didn't include it in the Master set 'list' so it doesn't show up there as #218.

If this has been discussed before I didn't see it. Any help?

Bill, I dismissed that a long time ago as a PSA error. But, let me know if you find out anything different.

By the way, I was able to upgrade a card or two and picked one up off of my list (J.Bonilla 10)....so, here's my updated list with 27 remaining to finish my basic set....

Which are the more difficult to find in the Diamond Kings, the Steele or Steel? And are the Pop Reports skewed by the label not distinguishing on some of them?

The Diamond Kings are mislabeled often. Most of the newer folks submitting really make it a point to have them labeled correctly. But, I have probably 8 to 10 that are labeled as Steel even though they are Steele.

I have to agree with Arny. I make it a point to highlight in bold what version I send in for grading. Even doing that I had one submission come back incorrect. The only good thing about it is that PSA corrected their mistake at no charge. Make sure if you send in any STEEL or STEELE versions to write in BIG BOLD LETTERS the version being submitted.

Bill, you willing to deal on the Ron Darling #30 on back card? Also, the Slaton 9 (if you upgraded to one of the 10s).

I've been doing more upgrading than anything lately. Seems like it's a good time to jump into the set with the top sets already sitting at or near completion.

Did anyone bid on the PSA/BGS/SGC/GAI lot that was on ebay? I was thinking about it, but I have adjusted my priorities for the next year or so. I'll just be picking up a few here and there just to keep going.

Got together my doubles/upgrades. Arny, I already checked your list, I got nothing for ya.

PSA8 - 42, 59-Ozzie Smith, 68-Strawberry, 108, 227-whittaker, 233, 241, 344 ---All the eights for $15, or $2 each
PSA9 - 100, 278, 299, 304, 308, 313, 338, 407, 470, 531

All the nines are fairly easy commons, except for the Landreaux which isn't low pop, but isn't easy either. $4 each for the 9s, or $35 for all the nines. All prices, plus shipping.

Grab all the 8s and 9s for $45 shipped.

Trades are prefered, anything 9 or better that I need. Would trade eights for eights that I need.

Questions on the 84 Donruss set. I just won a PSA 9 Lance Parrish, regular card, of Ebay. When comparing it to my 84 Donruss Jason Thompson it is about 1/16 shorter T/B. Is this from a factory set. I thought that they would not grade those, "not meet minimum size requirement". Just curious on this?? You can PM with answer or answer here, will check back later.

I was the high bidder at one point for about 1/2 of the ending price

I haven't opened any of the factory sets, but I remember that folks were saying that they'd get those back a lot of times as 'did not meet minimum required size' because of the smaller size of the card. But, I could imagine that by 1/16th it might slip by.

I have 2 almost complete sets (one is missing 1 card, and the other is missing 2 cards) of 84 Donruss ending tonight. Both sets are MINT, and one includes the puzzle, both include the mattingly card and the missing cards are just commons.

Got my first factory '84 Donruss set (w/PSA 9 Don Mattingly) and I probably won't be picking up many more of these unless there are some really good deals out there. Terrible centering on most of the bricks and lots of corner dings. Here are some of the cards that I feel have some potential.......any 10s here?
