    Mark,

Good luck at selling that lot at that price. Your $22.83/card seems a bit high. Only three of the cards in your list would regularly sell on ebay for more then $22.83 even with individual shipping costs. ( Kaat, Bonds, and Koosman)

  • I guess 4SC caught the goof they made on the PSA 9 Foil. they said if I didn't receive it by the 25'th they would refund my $20. i think I will keep it added to my registry for awhile just to see who ends up with it. I even offered to pay them more for the card but they insist it was shipped.

Do not accept the refund from them........ask them for a delivery confimation number!!

They gave me the run around for a month on a item lost AFTER I waited a month for the item not to arrive. In other words they are not ever so quick to give refunds.

Probably a bit high. Didn't realize 72's have taken such a nose dive. I listed the lot on ebay and its at 16.00 dollars a card right now with 4 days to go. Maybe I can get $18 or so at auctions end

  • Lesson learned on the Foli IA Psa 9. Possibly if you didnt come bragging on here until you had the card in hand you actually might have received it. Without a doubt 4sc heard about it from this board and are pulling a fast one on you. Very weak on their part. Im sorry you didnt get the card.
  • Maybe so but I didn't post on here until after the card "shipped". I'm also missing several more from them that I got a few days later. I need a #40 Barton IA PSA 8 if anyone has an extra. It's the only card I need in the 1'st series. Also looking for a #144 Pattin in PSA 8. Send me PM if you can help.

At the very least 4Sc ought to at least admit they don't want to sell you the card at that price. To tell you "if you don't receive it by such and such a date, we'll refund your money" is really lame, as they obviously never shipped the card. Can they give you a tracking #? If not, they're lying for sure.

Edit: Keep an eye out for that card to be listed again. My guess is that it will be very soon.

Collecting 1970s Topps baseball wax, rack and cello packs, as well as PCGS graded Half Cents, Large Cents, Two Cent pieces and Three Cent Silver pieces.
  • They sent me shipping info on the card but say the tracking # doesn't show on the label (whatever that means). They also claim that 7 other packages mailed out that day have not been received by other bidders. It does seem that they would admit the mistake but they still insist that it was mailed. I have given up on receiving the card but still receive emails from them about the shipping status. I will be looking for it to be relisted.

Since there are so many people here (including me) who buy regularly from 4sc, I wonder if it would be worth your while to point them at this thread and see the reaction. I don't like to do business with people who don't deal honestly, maybe if enought people here felt the same way and put it in writing they might "find" your card ?

  • would have loved to been this seller UNREAL linky

I know 72's have picked up some with new bidders but this one is crazy ????
  • Well guys' looks like I will be broke by the end of this week! User unclerobby just listed a hoard of super tough low pop's 72's that I need to complete my set. I just wish they were PSA 8's so I could afford more of them. If any of you are bidding on the same one's this week to upgrade your 8's I hope we can work out a deal on the ones you replace.
    Dwayne (squirrelsstuff)
  • Yea, I was bidding on this one myself. When I came in tonight I did a search for #555 and found a buy it now for $68. It's more than I was planning on paying for one but got tired of getting 6's & 7's back from PSA on submissions.

This summer definitely did seem a little lean for some of the tougher cards in PSA 8, didn't it?

And if anybody happens to have a PSA 8 #687 Del Unser that they are willing to part with - I'd be very willing to help them out!

The '72s are still selling rather well. I sold off some 7s that I had (Houk, Barton IA, etc) and sold them within the first 24 hours of listing them. Got a few folks trying to do some nice climbing on the charts it seems. image

    I gotta agree with Jamie...

Getting close is good. But, getting THERE is GREAT!!

And its even greater NOW than it was a few years ago. When I first reached 100%, there were only 2 or 3 guys above 90% complete - so no one was paying $250 for a tough PSA 8 common because they still had 50 - 70 more cards to go in order to complete. No one REALLY knew which cards were low pop because almost everything was low pop at the time and no one really charged a premium for 1/1's or 1/2's in PSA 8 because the assumption was that there would be hundreds more of just about every card.

Now, you have a bunch of guys all above 99% looking for the same 3 to 5 cards!!!! So, that 100% really is something special.

Howell4ya - nice grades! And if that Expos Team is close to the PSA 8 standards - you may want to resubmit.

By the way, along those lines, it took me almost a year to get the last 7 cards.

FYI: there has been two newly graded Fred Kendall cards ( PSA 8) since july 1st. I would expect them to rear their head on ebay at any time.

  • That Kendall has really irked me! The population report says 30 PSA 7's have been graded to date. I must have submitted 8 of them myself. I have submitted some nicely centered ones, only to have flaws somewhere else. I have sent in several #582 Expos Team cards but never expected better than an 8 (oc) and only recently received that grade! I only need a few more to get to 100% but for some reason the really tough ones seem to come up for sell in the 9 grade only. I would really be happy with straight 8's and find it hard to afford the prices that the 9's have been bringing latley. The lowest pop grade I have received from PSA for the 72's was a PSA 8 #292 McRae IA that I traded early on to get alot of cards that I need for the set. I see that the Pop on it now sits at 29 PSA 8's but I rarley see 'um for sale. I did recently purchase a SGC 96 #520 Larry Bowa on ebay. I broke it out and sent it to PSA. It is the 9 shown in my last submission listed below. If any of you '72 guys can help me complete my set or upgrade form 7's or any (oc) cards I have it would be greatly appreciated! my set is listed as Dwayne's 1972 topps Set currently #10. I would downgrade some of my 9's or 10's to get cards I don't have. Thanks again guys.
    Dwayne
  • lostdart58lostdart58 Posts: 2,938 ✭✭✭
Alot of the Mcrae IA PSA 8 were broken out and resubmitted in attempt to get a PSA 9. I would guess there are at least 10 less actual PSA 8 in existence. The PSA 9 population stood at 1 for the longest time and now is only 2.

The centering does look good enough for an 8. It is certainly worth a shot. ( you saw i bid on the card also.) I do know that seller well enough to know that if he says it is NM then it is probaly going to grade a 7. Good luck anyway......

  • I have decided to put my pursuit of the 1972 set on hold. It is going to be a while before I can give it any serious effort. As such, I would like to sell the set as a single lot; however, I will consider breaking it up if the price is right.

Here is a link to my set: My Set

Asking $700 shipped for the lot as a whole. The price is about what I paid and well under SMR. Let me know if you are interested.

    Thanks,
    Mike
