This Maz PSA 9 went for a bunch considering it is not low pop.

Boy, that Maz is beautifully centered and clear though, isn't it? You think that someone feels that a 10 is a possibility with that one?

Maybe I should throw my second PSA 8 out there and see if I can pull a few bucks for it.

Fortune has smiled on me again and I have a card that I thought might interest someone here; last time, I posted here and made a mutually beneficial trade and I'm hoping to do that again. This time it's a PSA 8 Dick Dietz IA card and I'm more interested in having more PSA 8's - however common - than in having this particular low pop card in my set.

If you need the card (or just want another for your own trading or sales purposes) and have some extra PSA 8's (or 9's or even 7's for the really expensive stars) that you don't need, please PM me with your best offer. (The last ebay auction closed at $46 - I'm hoping for an offer of cards worth that ballpark)
This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

I have about 40+ nm-mt 1972 Baseball cards if anyone wants a list please email me. Mjplays@yahoo.com, i busted 6 packs about 2 years ago and placed them in 9 card pages. i still have the wrappers as well. Most are high numbers and the others are 4th series.
    Thanks

I picked up a #109 (Jerry May) in PSA 9 quite cheaply yesterday. I was about to add it to my registry set when I noticed the multiple wine-purple spots on the front. Worse, they look like ink spots, not print dots, to me - the edges are irregular, and some are sort of teardrop-shaped.
    Ugh.
Oh well, at least I added a Rettenmund PSA 8 and an AL Batting Leaders PSA 9OC for $2 plus tax each.

Not too bad on a couple of those cards. Too bad on the Stanley, an 8 would've gotten you a few bucks.

I've been catching up on some of the recent '72 auctions and noticed a few cool cards going for decent coin....

    PSA 9 Roberto Clemente

    PSA 9 Rod Carew

    PSA 9 Bob Burda

    PSA 9 Carlton Fisk Rookie

    PSA 9 Pete Rose

    PSA 9 Reggie Jackson

    PSA 9 Roberto Clemente

    PSA 9 Juan Marichal IA

Very cool stuff....I'm glad that I'm just trying to upgrade half a dozen 7s to 8s. Those 9s can cost a pretty penny! image

    Arny,

Most of those prices are not so over the top. Rose can fetch $500. The Clemente is a $300 card. Jackson $300 + , Fisk rookie regularly goes for $400+. The Burba is low pop....

    Although....

I bought a Marachal IA about 2 months ago for $70.

My GOD......has the supply of quality raw 72 Topps dried up??

For the last two to three weeks there has been "slim pickens" in my ebay search "1972 Topps PSA". Most of the time the search yields 300-400 results. The number has hovered at 150 lately and right now sit at 135. ( and many are PSA 7s or less).

There was a time when combined 4SC and DSL would have 200- 300 listings between the two of them.................They may have 30 combined now.....

Yes Jamie - you've hit "the wall"...

And it only gets worse from here. You might get some good listings for a week here or there and then it will dry up for a month. Eventually, you'll stop thinking about upgrading altogether...

I'm thinking of switching from baseball cards to matchbooks... Cheaper and I won't run out of new ones to find.image

  • Hello All,

I am a huge JR Richard fan his rookie card is 1972 #101. I saw in the registry that there are 3 PSA 10. Has anyone ever seen one of these or own one? Do they ever show up on Ebay or anywhere else? I do have 6 PSA 9s and a few 7 and 8 but would really like to know about a PSA 10. Thank you in advance for any info you may have

    Kindest Regards,
    Lenny

    Lenny,

Not one member of the PSA 72 Topps set registry, past or present, has had one of the three PSA 10s in their registry set. There are a handfull of high end collectors I know of who do not list their sets in the registry.......................I seem to remember one selling on ebay about a year ago.......I do not remember the details..

You are correct. I don't think PSA cares, whatever is on the submission form goes on the label. Most of the "Green Letter" variations I've seen are mislabeled.
  • lostdart58lostdart58 Posts: 2,938 ✭✭✭
MOst of the Green label variations are indeed mislabeled as our most of the checklist small/large letter variations.
