If you have any high grade 72's now is the time to sell!!! I hated to part with my pirates but at these prices it was tough not to. Good luck to all and thanks for bidding if you did so.

My days of trying to upgrade my set are over for the time being...................The current PSA 9 prices are not worth paying for now...........

My EBAY searches are limited to the three cards that i still need for my set:

    #518 Wayne Garrett
    #582 Expos Team card
and a third card of which I will remain mum on for now.............image

I do have a bunch of gradable cards which will be submitted during the next special including two Garrett cards.........one of which shopuld grade out.

I think it's the scan that makes it look ugly and of course the price SMR is 15.00 and it will go for 217.66 or somewhere around that! image

You have to add the McRae IA, Dietz IA, Barton IA , Harmon, Expos team to your list with the toughest of all being the Fred Kendell

With three cards left to finish my set, my Holy Grail card will end up being the Expos Team card.

    Montreal Expos Team Card
    Hal McRae IA

There are plenty of Aaron IA cards out there, although the population reports may be skewed with resubmissions trying to get aPSA 9..........The problem is always being able to put the hammer down on a card which will cost you close to $200.

I know mine cost me $203 and if, I remember correctly, Arny paid about $194 for his........

Yup, we were both in the same price range for that card. But, the problem with getting ahold of the Aaron is the fact that there are so many Aaron collectors, Braves collectors, etc which means more competition. But, I haven't seen one for sale in quite some time.

    I think the toughest are:

    1) Fred Kendall
    2) Expos Team Card
    3) Ralph Houk
    4) Hal McRae IA
    5) Al Santorini

There are enough Foli IA and Aaron IA out there, there's just more people after them. Of course, these are 6 of the 7 I still need for my set.

Vida Blue IA would be tough if I didnt have a stack of them. I think I've submitted 90% of the 8's and 9's.

I have to agree with the Kendall being the toughest, but I also have to add the Wills IA, Reds Rookies, and the Garrett.

    Guys,

I believe that there was a thread a few years back that talked about a number of the In Action cards being at the outer most edge of the sheet before cutting. Back in 72, there were no laser cutters. Just a guy setting the blades to the desired height and width and cutting multiple sheets at a time. If the width settings were off by 1/64th of an inch, the cards would bet more OC as you went from one side of the sheet to the other. Whether this is true or not - I don't know - but it seems plausible.

Does anyone have 72 sheets that they can check the position on some of these cards?

I have photo copies of the 1972 uncut sheets.

The IA cards are always in the bottom right hand corner of a true uncut sheet (264 cards). Here is a link to a series 1 264 card sheet with each card printed twice is 3 row increments. All the other 72 sheets followed the same format. For the OPC sheets I have photos of, they didn't double print the cards but they would combine series. Let me know if you want photos of any of the sheets, John.

Do you think eBay's counters are screwed up? I have a handful of '72 PSA 8's/9's ending tomorrow with 2-5 hits in six days - one or two of those hits are probably me. I've also got a 1955 PSA 6 common with almost 600 hits (but no bids).

I paid way too much and it's got a slight tilt to it, but I picked up a PSA 8 NQ Kendall! I'm down to needing the same six that everybody ends up needing:

    150 Cash
    292 McRae IA
    300 Aaron IA
    582 Expos Team
    708 Foli IA
    723 Santorini

I'm looking for all in PSA 8, but I'll take a Foli IA in PSA 7!
