You were lucky to get any money from Paypal.

I had the same problem with a seller and Paypal got me a dime on a $75 item. The scumbag cleaned out her account.

PS: Matt, why have you negged this scumbag yet?

If I recall from page 1 or 2, Matt accidentally chose positive feedback with a negative comment and then received the (expected) negative from poe58. This case is certainly one for the ages.

Poe has some new terms for his auctions:

While I do accept PayPal, You May Take 2.5 percent off the final price if you pay by any other method including personal checks!

I am not sure if that one is an ebay violation. We will have to see. image

You have seven days from the date of shipment to return the item for any reason except for damage during shipping; I offer Postal insurance to cover that. Uninsured items are shipped at buyer’s risk!

So I guess that in Matt's case, the postman must have opened the envelope, brushed and nicked the coin, and resealed it. That's the ticket.

  • Well, I'm glad that the buyer got his money back in this case. Score one more for the good guys. I'm not certain if this guy can go after you in court. As both an Ebay and Paypal user, don't you have to agree to abide by their rulings as one of their terms of service? I'd find where the terms are spelled out and print it out and bring the web address where the info is found. The courts might construe this as a legal waiver of ones' right to sue in court and throw the whole thing out. It's worth a try.

  • ya know....

this Poe guy has really got some nerve. But then - so do a lot of people here on this board - but in more positive ways.

Poe - you should take a deep breath, step back, take a few days off, and then come back and read some of the things you have written.

It may open your eyes and give you a different perspective. image

Poe has a lot of faith in the shipping company to deliver the package with enough time to allow the recipient to examine the abrasions on the coin. I can hear it now..."It's not my fault the Post Office is slow!" "No refund you scammer!"

  • You think that's bad?

JP-TheMint took me for $730 bucks.

They sent me the worst silver eagles I've ever seen in my entire life.

Then after I left them a negative feedback, they left me a retaliatory feedback.
I had 100% positive feedbacks with about 3000 feedbacks!

They must have gotten my lawyers letter, all of a sudden they are trying to fix all the misrepresented coins they sold this month.

If you check out their feedback, they are scrambling to get squaretrade to retract all their negatives.

So far I'm sure they've had to refund over $20k worth for spotted junk coins.

Even if I dont get my money back, at least I've helped others get their due!

This only proves what a work of art JP's wife is.

If my wife did that to my clients she would need to find another place to live.

Not to mention they never sent me an invoice on my goods, and packed the coins very poorly.
  • Thank you for pointing that out Catch22. I forgot to take into account sundays and holidays. I will change it to date of receipt as confirmed on the Delivery confirmation form.

Oh really? And how could you know what went on here a couple of years ago since you joined in Feb 03? Of course, I suspect this ID is an alternate, as you seem to want to defend the worst of the slimeball sellers. Poe58 is a con artist, plain and simple.
  • I don't want to defend anyone bud. I just don't like your mightier than thou approach to everybody who is different than you would like them to be. I am not saying he is good, even though you immediatly accused me of doing so. DID I SAY HE WAS RIGHT, GOOD or anything like that? No, but you had to go attack me. This is a perfect example of your world og black and white, good and evil. If they are not like you then they are bad, wrong or guilty of something. Look at your posts. Accusatory, negative, preaching, you act as though you are judge, jury and hangman. Just who and the heck do you think you are?

And I preface this by saying that you are right in what you say, I am not argueing that, its the tone, the really angry way you say it and the way you pinpoint the guys weakpoint and attack at full force with facts, statements, acusations, etc, etc. It just strikes me as not a nice way to go about things. Is there no other way but this attack, attack, kill, smother until dead method of dealing with someone who is wrong in your OPINION. You treat people as if you are the almighty and everyone else is somehow less smart, less honest, less good and less than you. This is how I perceive you anyway. I could be just seeing this one minute side of you and be making to much out of it. I do hope this is the case.

Again, what part of this whole situation don't you understand? Poe tried to stick this guy with a cleaned POS and all you can do is try to defend him saying he was unfairly attacked. He is a numismatic con man, and you certainly are not doing yourself any favors coming to his defense. But we already knew that about you, didn't we?

As a "Member, Mean Old Grumps Club" and a board "insider", the first quote may strike close to home. Think about it "Same old pack of vigilantes ready to gang up and crucify the guy just for the sake of entertainment and to show how smart and powerful they are in this little world that they are masters of. Really have you nothing better to do but be mean to someone?" If the shoe fits, wear it!

The second quote seems defamatory. I would assume you are well versed in this area. If I were you, I would learn to temper my words or have my daughter marry a lawyer.

BTW, I assume you are aware that one of your cohorts and PM buddies (part of the old pack of vigilatnes) recently has been banned form these Boards because he overstepped the line (used obsene language and disclosed personal information about a member).

These boards are supposed to be about matters numismatic. Let's keep it that way, stop all the senseless bashing and bile, and forcus on an intelligent discourse. I readily admit to having fallen prey to the temptation to fight fire with fire, and have engaged in meaningless debates with you and others.

Let's bury the hatchet and start with a fresh slate. As someone with great esteem once said, "Life is short enough".

Ref the "fly with a hammer" post I made. The facts are out, Poe made a mistake. He still doesn't believe he did but that's for him to work out. This is all referenced to one transaction, a transaction that could've been better handled on both sides.

For a $50 item "Making a mistake" is not worth a thread with 500 replies and a soap opera story. Ridiculous.

Is Poe that broke? Why doesn't this guy get a life.

It would have never reached this many posts if you and your buddy Poe weren't trying to defend the inexcusable.

  • K6AZ,

Again, I am not comming to POEs defense. Like I said I am not defending what he did or did not do. All I am saying iswho elected you defender of the hobby, the detective, prosecutor, judge and jury of another person? Is not one lawsuit enough? You remind me of the schoolyard bully, but rather than fists you use this forum and your admittedly great computer skills to push people around. Then you enlist others who follow and admire you to join in which creates an attack from all sides picking up steam as emotions build. I have one question. What would your punishment be if you could sentence POE> WIthout restrictions you can decide his punishment, what would you do K6AZ/

You noticed that too huh? At least he does make posts that are longer than 2 sentences every so often. And not all of them drop to name calling, unlike some of the other "bullys" who come straight out of the chute and use vulgarities and other morbid soliloquy to attempt to hammer their points home. It really makes for some mature reading around here doesn't it?

  • Hello There

You all are under the mistaken assumption that I care what you think! The fact of the matter is Matthew set out to run his con. I believe the term of choice in your little club is scam. You all are so gullible that you jumped at the chance to assist him. You all played your parts so well that I even think you all believe in what you are doing. The facts are simple enough even for your simple minds! Matthew has his stolen coin, and he has for the moment his stolen funds! Although I have heard K6AZ doing a lot of crying, I haven’t heard the final curtain call on this show yet!

It's Friday night... not surprising this comes to life. This will be my last post to this thread. Poe, if you're reading this -- I'm surprised you didn't post the whole postal record where in a last-ditch effort to avoid a refund you refused to take the package with your coin in it -- the one you sent me -- which was packed under the watchful and duly documented gaze of the postmaster. The package with your coin in it will sit unopened in lockup until one of a few things happens. We can open it in fact finding, we can open it in a small claims courtroom, or I'll sell the damn thing, in the net graded slab, to make back the ANACS fee after the statute of limitations on this thing runs out. You've got three years. Think it over, then go ahead and file whatever you want in whatever court you want or don't, but bear in mind that if you do, you'll end up paying my legal fees at the very least. You tried a scam. You lost. In the end, you even screwed yourself out of the junk coin you tried to unload on me. Whether you'd like to waste more of your own time and money on this matter is entirely up to you. Since the crux of your argument seems to be that the coin couldn't have been slabbed in the amount of time it took to slab it, you might save yourself some bother by calling up ANACS, giving them the slab number, and asking when it came in and when they sent it out. That might clear up some of your confusion. PayPal should have provided you with copies of the docs I sent them. Request them if they did not; you are entitled. One of twenty-three pages of documentation I sent was a photo scan of the slab. Get the number from there. Or don't. I don't care. I'm done with it.

Edit -- Catfish, I posted that I received a refund midday, August 24. USPS shows the item refused at something like 11 AM 8/24. PayPal refunded when they confirmed your buddy refused the package. Not sure what you don't understand here, but then I've never been.
