No, the league is too competitive.

In Tampa, other teams keep stealing our offensive coordinators. Why doesn’t Kansas City lose their “defensive genius?”

I agree with ya. I don't think the Eagles are as good as this game indicates, and neither are the Chiefs this bad.

I just saw where the bookies have the Eagles and Chiefs both at +650 odds to win next season's Super Bowl. That's not exactly "lock" type odds.

I'd say capable, but the chances are doubtful.

The NFL is just too dam tough.

I am not sure how much of a ¨genius¨ Spags is, but I have wondered the same thing. Perhaps he is not HC material and the league knows it?

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

I am wondering how much longer Spags and Reid will keep coaching. I didnt realize steve is 65 now. His shelf life cant be too much longer. I dont think Andy will go much more than another year or two. He is in his 60s and doesnt seem very healthy.

No chance of that happening. I only began the thread because of the ridiculous pompous attitude of the Chiefs players, and their constant 3-peat ramblings as if it was a sure thing.

Karma came to them in the Super Bowl. They well deserved it with perhaps the worst collapse in Super Bowl history. A "major collapse" by any reasonable definition.

I'll be on cloud nine until the start of next season. Fully realizing that glory is fleeting. 😎

Not a smidgen chance of changing my mind on that.

Unless the Chiefs win the next two Super Bowls, and start their 3-peat bragging again. 😉

One more comment for me on this thread and I’m done with the topic.
Craig is a huge fan of this thread and claims the Chiefs did completely collapse even though they once again won the AFC west, were the AFC champions and again played in the Super Bowl.
Fine he’s entitled to his opinion. But he also recently wrote that it was amazing to be a fan of the pats during their 20 year run of dominance. What 20 year run are you talking about Craiger? They won 3 super bowls, completely collapsed for 9 straight years, then won 3 more super bowls. How do you, while saying since the chiefs lost a Super Bowl it was a Chiefs total collapse, justify saying the pats were a 20 year dynasty when half of those years they sucked because all they could do was win their division and maybe lose a couple super bowls.
Remember, all you pats fans always said it was sb victory or bust and division titles and afc championships don’t mean a thing, contrary to what I believe.

  • DarinDarin Posts: 7,325 ✭✭✭✭✭

By the way I’m not saying the pats did or did not have a 20 year dynasty, I’m saying Craig can’t possibly say they did while also claiming the Chiefs completely collapsed this year. The 2 statements aren’t compatible.

Craig - Thank you for taking some of the heat off me from Darin's wrath.

I'll tell ya, it's been rough. Sleepless nights, the shakes, and much more. I've even developed a stuttering problem. All in mortal fear of Darin's next scathing post.

    Tthankks Aagainn.

Speaking for myself I've often said the Pats wasted numerous years and left a few Super Bowls on the table.

They collapsed several times, we can sprinkle in a couple years where they didn't have enough pieces in place but for the most part for me it was win the Super Bowl or bust

Thank you perk for your opinion.
For me it’s a little different. I think division titles are huge, especially finishing ahead of bitter rivals Raiders and Broncos. And of course AFC championships mean a lot to me also. So if KC loses in the SB it’s not a complete loss to me, they still had a great year.
And also no doubt Mahomes and crew were embarrassed that the game wasnt competitive so that should light a fire under them for next season.
I look at it as a great year. No other team has played in 5 of the last 7 super bowls.

  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,575 ✭✭✭✭✭

The Kansas City Star is reporting this morning that a fan named Darin and his court request that the Super Bowl be replayed, has been dismissed.

The judge cited some of the reasons for the complaint such as "because the Chiefs lost", and "because Patrick Mahomes had a bad game", and "because Taylor Swift is upset", as not being good enough reasons to proceed with the hearings.

To your point about Division titles for us Pats fans the Division was literally a forgone conclusion that it was an automatic thing since the Jets Fins and Bills were dumpster fires

We had our routine losses to Miami and during the Rex Ryan days the Jets were good for like 2 minutes but other than that it was a joke.

I was more along the lines of at least making the AFC Championship game or the season was a complete failure

Selfishly and deep.down my bottom line was Super Bowl.or bust though

first off, not sure what the ¨Craiger¨ name is all about. is that an ad-hominem attack? have you dropped to the level of calling names???

and second, when the patriots were winning, it was super bowl or bust for me (and the bulk of my peers) I didnt care about division titles, making it to the playoffs, making it to the AFCCG, making it to the SB. none of that. I always ASSUMED we would make it. if we didnt win in the SB, I considered it a ¨major collapse¨

As I consider the current Chiefs team a dynasty, I also consider anything less than a super bowl win a major collapse.

I am also perfectly content if the patriots had 2 seperate ¨dynasties¨ seperated by a number of years of major collapses.

so sorry that division titles dont get me all jazzed up...

Craiger is sort of a form of endearment, kind of like how you call Tom Brady Tommy.
And thanks for clarifying, I’m fine with you saying the Chiefs had a major collapse in the SB as long as you admit the pats had a few of their own.
I completely disagree, I think the pats did have a 20 year dynasty, it’s very difficult to go to the SB consistently and division titles and conference championships are very big accomplishments.
Of course I don’t think KC collapsed either, you can’t win them all. Besides, like I said Mahomes goes to the SB 71.4% of the time so that means about 14 super bowls, just win half and that’s 7. 🥳

thank you for the clarification, it is difficult to read tone into the written word.

this is my thought process/feelings. in 2007, the Patriots had the greatest regular season in history, winning all 16 games and doing so in mostly convincing fashion. they then won their 2 playoff games to have an 18-0 record going into the SB. then they lost that SB by one score on a fluke play at the end of the game.

I call that the greatest collapse in football history. I took no solice that they were the only team to ever go 16-0 and then 18-0, or that they won the division or went to the SB. and then just BARELY lost that SB. it was a complete and utter collapse of the worst kind.

that is why I definitely consider this seasons Chiefs to have collapsed. If I were a KC fan, I would have the worst feeling in my stomach. I never ever felt glad just to have made the SB and to end up as the first loser.

George Brett, Roger Clemens and Tommy Brady.

Craig… I respect your opinion on the topic. It’s funny but even as the Chiefs were getting blown out in the first half I never did feel that bad about it, and I think the reason why is I’m perfectly content with Mahomes and KC winning 3 super bowls. It really isn’t a big deal to me if they don’t even come close to Brady or the pats SB wins. Everything from here on out is gravy to me. I don’t even get nervous now watching them in playoff games. Of course I do wish they could have made the game competitive. 🤨
