Not to pile on but Williams was billed as a generational talent. Guys he’s a California native and the weather hasn’t even turned cold.
New York Jets defense billed as top 5 and all they needed was a solid quarterback.
    Oh and D. Adams.
Congratulations to Drake Maye and the Patriots. They might not be great but I’ve said all season they’re better than a 3 win team

This was my opinion last year of Caleb Williams after I had seen a few of his college games. I might not be a genius at evaluating talent but I saw Bo Nix as a solid nfl qb and from what I saw today of him against KC he didn’t even look like a rookie.

Houston last night going up 23-6 and did nothing in the entire second half was comical, they gave a lesson on how to snap defeat out of the jaws of victory.

That PI no call on their last drive was a nice lil gesture from the refs for Detroit

Why Dallas kept Cooper Rush in for so long is hilarious, they should have at least seen what Trey Lance could do, they should stick him in their for the rest of the season

Um...This is the Weird Scary Part...My bone Dr. Michael is originally from Buffalo; when I'm hanging out at Michael's office I'll have my tablet with me and show him my Hy-Vee, and the rest of my Patrick's...

and my physical therapist Bob is also from Buffalo; so when I'm hanging out at therapy doing my stunts & tricks over there... it's like an ESPN conversation over there with Bob... We've Created A Great Relationship which is So Cool...

when you take a step back and think about it, it really is crazy. they make the proper call there and Detroit is royally screwed. they don't and Detroit wins the game. and everyone is supposed to pretend like it's not that big of a deal and continue to love the NFL. it's as if everyone is completely numb to it now. oh a zebra didn't do his job and it resulted in the wrong team winning? well, that's just the way it is.

it's insane. i wonder if it'll ever reach a point where people can no longer take the NFL seriously. i'm just about there

As I've said there are a lot of things that are now just accepted behavior, you got coaches going for it on 4th down and not only that but the play calling in those situations more often than not are just bizarre, speaking of Detroit they could have punched their Super Bowl ticket last year had they taken 3 points several times in that game but didn't and were sent packing because of it.

The Zebras are making up calls on play and the next they are completely turning a blind eye, I can't count that high the amount of times I've seen flagrant penalties happening right in front of a ref and am dumbfounded at the non call, it's madness and the NFL needs to do something about it.

The NFL is a bad product but keeps us all in because we love the sport so much, adding in the gambling part and that keeps us in it even more so.

Another thing that just really annoys me is the amount of drops from these professional WR's that happens it's absolutely ridiculous and don't even get me started on the poor tackling, that is a complete joke in itself.

Already a horrible call on interception in end zone against Vikings.
Obvious that the ball hit the ground.
    :-(

    Follow up rules question;

Late in game Vikings defender intercepts pass, falls at the 1yard line and his momentum carries him into the end zone where Jaguars receiver promptly falls on him.

Vikings given the ball at the 1 yard line BUT defender was tackled in the end zone, he could have gotten up and ran the ball out of the end zone if he wasn't tackled, so the play should have been a touchback.........yes?

I already know bgr's answer, so anyone else?

    Words hurt Joe.

But the rule would be that the ball is placed at the point in the field of play where the defender established possession. If he fell into the end zone before establishing possession it would be a touchback. There is a situation where it could be a safety but this was not that.

    >
    >
    >

Words hurt? Thought you said you would vote against my team no matter what. That hurt.

So defender couldn't have intercepted the ball, gone into the end zone and kept running with the ball into the field of play?

    Another idiotic rule.

    Well. Packers Rule.

The defender could go backwards into the end zone and then take the ball back into the field of play and advance it. I wasn’t watching the game today so I didn’t see this one. But it sounds like they put the ball at the 1 or so. So they just have determined that the defender had possession in the field of play and was then carried into the end zone by their own momentum and touched down. Ball would be placed at the 1 or so. I don’t know where it was exactly. The officials get these calls wrong almost all the time. To be fair, it’s usually easy with replay but real time at full speed I can see why it’s tough to determine. I think that in this case, even if the defender fell down in the end zone, without being touched, they could still get up and advance the ball but someone would have to double check that.

I know that I am a dinosaur, but when I watch football, I try to use common sense.

The defender couldn't make that catch without ending up in the end zone. I don't see that it matters if he got possession at the 1-2 yard line, he wasn't yet touched by a defender so he's free to "take a knee" in the end zone or try to run it out.

Since he was tackled/touched down in the end zone, my thinking is it should come out to the 20 yard line. In fact, I think that was what was originally called until the refs changed their minds.

At least it didn't decide the outcome of the game.

This thread is awful quiet considering we had a Thursday night battle for first in the division and Chiefs-Bills 7.0 Sunday

Unlike most years I really doubt this game matters except for seeding. Bills schedule is not easy and 12-5 might get the 2 seed. Chiefs and Ravens have an easier go at it from here on out. My hope is for the first time in 3 years the Bills get healthy, get Milano back in Pro Bowl form. Von Miller maybe the wildcard in it all

    Skoal Vikings!

Darnold played very well, sure is nice to see a guy who's able to avoid a sack!

    Edited to add;
How am I doing so far on my predictions? :-)

Dallas - after the fumble was picked up by their own lineman and then he fumbled and Houston picked that up for a scoop-and-score, I asked my teenager what the lineman should have done. "Go Down". Even my teenage boy knows better than Dallas linemen.

Still not convinced the Steelers are legitimate. 6 field goals isn’t going to get it done against a Detroit, Philly, Chiefs or Bills team. I realize it was a division game but Tucker missed to easy FG’s. Wilson and Pickens are not elite. The defense has looked good but playing a 3rd place schedule helps. The Chargers also played some pretty poor offenses and I think their points against are somewhat deceptive.

Steelers are one of those teams nobody really wants to play, Im not buying into them regardless

  • 2dueces2dueces Posts: 6,487 ✭✭✭✭✭

Just yesterday Shannon Sharpe said the Steelers were the best team in the AFC.
I’m sure 7 FG’s in 6 quarters are the signature of a great team. I’m thinking random drug tests are in order.

I just hope that the front office actually finds weapons to surround him with. The talk around here this week has been that Maye's play has likely changed the outlook around the league as far as players wanting to sign here in free agency. Tee Higgins is the one name that keeps getting mentioned there assuming Cincy lets him walk.

I still think that the team's first priority in the draft should be rebuilding their OL, PFF recently posted overall Offensive Line Grades and New England's is still dead last.

I love the idea of power ranking mascots. Tiger should be 1 though, they kill bears in the wild even brown bears. Dolphin is way to low. Theyre known to kill sharks and none of the birds would be able to do anything to them

I was thinking the same thing. It's really hard to take this "animal mascot" fight ranking seriously without knowing more details on the official rules.

fighting a brown bear and fighting a grizzly is like playing the Jacksonville Jaguars and the Detroit Lions, respectively. no comparison.

a tiger would fight like hell, but ultimately there would be buzzards circling its dead carcus. zero chance a bengal tiger takes out a grizzly bear

and don't get me started on a polar bear, which would take out a grizzly and annihilate a tiger

It wouldnt be a clear cut winner every time but Bengals have killed Grizzelys in the wild.

Polar bear is just a monster, in the arctic it probably wins almost every time, if it gets to south though and loses its energy from being to hot that could be a different story.

I do find it interesting the Bengals picked that one instead of the biggest breed when its not like theres a bunch of Bengals running around Cincy lol
