you guys appear to be having quite a bit of fun propping it up, so i'm going to take a stab tonight myself

and a parlay that's the equivalent of Russian roulette....................which game will be the bullet?

I couldn't believe it was so close all the first half,

3-0 and from the 6 yard line on 4th and goal they put it in sineones hands other than Mahomes?

They pulled away but that first half was tough oh and they called the spread perfectly at 11, had KC kicked that first half FG they would have covered

    Note to self

Dont ever bet the point spread in games with the Chiefs

  • DarinDarin Posts: 6,841 ✭✭✭✭✭

Perk they covered at my casino which has draft kings. It was 10.5
I didn’t bet the spread but I have the same parlay as galaxy so I need the dolphins and bills to win now.
Also have a couple more smaller parlays with the Niners, jags and eagles thrown in.

this is my take on the Chiefs. Mahomes is Mahomes, Kelce is Kelce, the defense is playing at a very high level, but i think the lack of playmakers/lack of experience in the receiving corps is what causes them to bog down as often as they do in the red zone. and in turn that prevents them from covering as easily as it seems they should. come playoffs time that could pose a real problem, especially if they were to reach the Super Bowl and play a team like San Francisco.........a team that has serious personnel on defense.

i think KC failed to score a TD three different times inside the 20 against one of the worst defenses in the league last night. if i'm the opposition and they come anywhere close to pay dirt, i guarantee you i'd be doubling up on Kelce every single snap and forcing someone else to make a play.

My $5 parlay is alive. I took Phillies +1.5 runs,ML- KC,SF,Miami,Buffalo, and over 44.5 in Cinn. game. $29.52 pay off. As the Rev. Jesse Jackson said years ago in a speech"Keep hope alive". Best of luck to all.

Galaxy good post on KC, I agree.
Even Mahomes said as much after the game. However he also said it takes time to build chemistry with his young receivers like there is between him and Kelce.
I think the big problem might be Valdez-Scantling. I don’t think he caught one pass last night and he’s the veteran receiver. If he was getting open Mahomes would find him. So he’s contributing nothing and so it’s all up to Kelce and the young guys.
Rashee Rice had a great game and looks very explosive after the catch.
The good thing is KC is winning games while the young receivers are getting acclimated to the NFL.
My feeling is that there’s going to be a lot more touchdowns than field goals in the coming weeks of the regular season and by playoff time they’ll be humming along like a well oiled machine.

that could very well be the case. by the time the second season rolls around, they may be in a completely different place. that Rice kid looks like he could be a stud. and i love Pacheco -- he runs like he's on fire, plus he can catch passes out of the backfield. imo, the thing that separates this KC team from past iterations is the defense. they are legit. best KC D i've seen since Mahomes has been there. so if the receivers become more acclimated and the offense evolves, they will be a handful come playoffs time.

perhaps the thing to do is to hold off on taking KC vs. the spread until later in the season

Not much to report here other than I got crushed this weekend

    Down $650

It all started with me going to bed Friday night with Colorado up 14-0 in the first quarter then I wake up to a crushing loss as that was a key game in a few parlays, I reloaded on Saturday and Wisconsin and Maryland loss to finish off another $450 in Parlays

It honestly made me feel better when SF loss though because they were tied into every play I had.

    Crappy weekend for betting lol.

i was one yard away from saying arrivederci and wishing you guys the best. if the Giants had scored and won that game, i was done betting on the NFL for the rest of the season. it is insane. it is f*****g insane. every time i think it can't get any more unpredictable, days like today happen. the undefeated Niners lose to P.J. Walker, the undefeated Eagles blow a game to Zach Wilson, and the 15.5-point favorite Bills were a yard away from losing to Tyrod Taylor at home. i think i need my head examined for continuing to drop coin on these games. but continuing to drop coin on them i guess i will since Buffalo somehow managed to avoid blowing up my teaser and parlay. but it's probably just delaying the inevitable...............i'm sure i'll be saying arrivederci and wishing you guys the best at some point before the season ends.

The NFL isn't for the faint of heart lol

I'm glad the Bills hung on for you, really it's absurd that some of these games go sideways and stuff that shouldn't happen just simply happens.

I'm not surprised about this weekend's games at all, every year there are a few weeks that the most insane things happen, the book just cleans up. It literally happens every year and this happens to be one of those weeks.

That's why you got to be careful. I chased and it cost me.

I'm embarrassed that I threw away $650, I am usually a maximum $300 budget bettor but I had a bunch of extra money this week so I foolishly attacked it when I kind of knew it was gonna be one of those weeks where no matter what I did I was going to lose.

The games look so easy but they can turn on you pretty bad, like a friend said "If it was so easy everyone would be doing it"

Another good weekend for me with NFL parlays. I did 30 $20 parlays again since I am up quite a bit this year. Will probably continue with that volume of parlays until I lose them all one weekend. Lost a few others with J Chase didn't get over 100 yards, I didn't think Higgins would play so figured he would have another monster game. Got lucky with the last 49ers drive and the throws to Aiyuk.

I have one active parlay for tonight and might add another to give me something else to root for during the game. However, I have found that single game parlays are mostly garbage as it is almost impossible to predict 3 or more events in a single game accurately.

@perkdog i concur with everything you said. for me, it's just knowing when to say when. had the Giants gained that extra yard, it would have dropped me all the way down to roughly my break-even point since i started this running tally at the beginning of last season. that's a psychological dagger i wasn't willing to try and come back from lol. but the football gods decided to keep me alive -- probably just so they can torture me some more -- so i'm going to keep fighting until they kill me. let's get it!

and i wonder if @fergie23 is mulling over his day job. bro you are white hot with the prop parlays!

i'm going to avoid tonight's game itself and prop it up instead. CeeDee has done nothing since week 2 and i think that changes against the Chargers secondary. a nice round number awaits me when i'm wrong lol.

    Perkdog,
When I don't post for like 5 weeks straight you will know that parlay magic has deserted me.

I added 49ers -9.5 to 3 of my parlays as I thought that was the surest bet of the weekend with the 49ers D against a backup QB and a fully healthy 49ers offense...Have to add a game wager every now and then to remember why it is a terrible idea to bet on games for me.

Looks like there was 11 unders this week. That hurt me as I only bet overs. SF and Cinn game overs were my plays/keys. Bad day at Nascar as well Bell lost race by a little over a car length.

My biggest parlays were chiefs, dolphins and Bills moneyline.
So really lucky to get that bills win.
The reason I went those 3 is because they were the home team.
I added SF on three smaller bets and eagles on one so lost those but made out okay.
I’ve already decided next week I’m taking a break from nfl as it seems like most games could go either way.
I’m going to do a several team college moneyline parlay and not risk much maybe $200-300 at most.

Agree, I’m just going to enjoy watching nfl games next weekend without having any money at risk.
Mainly kc-chargers and Philly-dolphins but several other good matchups.
Good luck to everyone and fergie keep it going you’re winning some amazing bets! 👍

I see many games as a toss up. May tread lightly. But just when it seems teams are even the tidal wave of a romp drowns you. My Dallas/Colts+2 parlay is alive. My early parlay for the Week is:Jags+3,over42 Lions game,Steelers +3. Probably will mix a baseball playoff game in with a football game or 2. Like to mix up a parlay,Base, NFL, golf etc. Am still in the Nascar Chase hunt. Have Truex and Bell to come out victors. Either one.

    thisistheshow,
"this weekend you turned 600 into 2600", that is correct. However, multi-player parlays are tough. I had my final one of the weekend needing 90+ yards from Allen to win $500 and change. The final Chargers drive of the 4th quarter, Herbert passes to Allen for 7 yards and I am celebrating and then I see the Chargers nullify the play and accept a 5 yard offsides penalty against the Cowboys...3 plays later Herbert throws an interception and I lose as Allen ends with 85 yards. Herbert also missed Allen on a wide open double move that would have easily gotten him over 90 yards. At least it made the game interesting as I had no vested interest in who actually won.

I am assuming it is tough, because you are hitting on a small percentage of them. But it seems like the way you do it, hitting on one usually gets you at least almost even, and if you hit on two you made money.

if last week almost sent me to the funny farm, i can only imagine what this week is going to do -- 9 out of 13 lines opened at a FG or less. basically grab your balls and flip a coin.

but i did spot a short line i like. the Colts stink at home, Watson might be back, Minshew sucked last week, and Cleveland's stellar D showed me what they are capable of when they chewed Brock Purdy up and spit him out. hoping for a repeat on Sunday. back to 500 if i'm wrong.

I think KC takes down the Chargers and Miami takes out Philly I also cannot see SF dropping one to Minny

Obviously tough road games, I'd say KC is probably the safest bet since I think the Chsrgers are terribly coached

  • fergie23fergie23 Posts: 2,115 ✭✭✭✭

I feel like the Chiefs defense is in for a stinker one of these days. The D has been playing lights out and I feel like they will have a let down game and I think it will be against the Chargers. That said, the Chargers are poorly coached and Herbert has a propensity for bad 4th quarter interceptions.

Can't shake the thought that this will be one of those 28-24 games where the Chiefs rally but end up coming just short. Hope I am wrong as Mahomes is my new favorite QB now that Brady has retired.

I will be adding Palmer or Allen to several of my parlays since the Chargers pass a lot and with Williams out those targets are going to both of them. Might add Everett for over 25 yards to a parlay or two depending on the odds as he has gotten more targets and it feels like he will break a long one (30+ yards) soon. For the Chiefs I like Rice better than Kelce because you can get + odds on Rice normally at over 40 yards and he is getting 5 targets or so a game. He hasn't really broken free for a huge play and feels like he is due. With Kelce, you have to do 80+ yards or so and that is a lot for a TE even with the volume Kelce normally sees. I think he has only cracked 70+ yards once this season. Of course, now that I have written these down Palmer, Allen, Everett, Rice will all have terrible games or get injured and Kelce will explode for 100+ yards, lol.

This is the type of game that gives me pause. It's one of those too logical picks. Cleve. upsets SF. Goes on the road as a fav. against a poor team missing their starting QB. I hope for your bet, logic wins out. Best of luck my friend.

i feel you bro. you may very well be right. all I can do is utilize my two eyeballs and my microscopic brain to dissect these games as best i can. but you know and i know that things can change on a dime. things that should not logically happen actually happen ALL the time in the NFL. last weekend i watched Cleveland's D turn Brock Purdy into Brock Putty. this weekend they may turn Gardner Minshew into Johnny Unitas.

UNC ruined my college parlay. 7 heavy favorites and they were the only team that lost.
For tomorrow I have Rashee Rice over 38.5 receiving yards and Skyy Moore over 21.5 receiving yards.
One of their receivers is out with injury so hoping those two pick it up.
Plus the Chargers D isn’t exactly SF caliber.
And since I put a little thought into those bets bye bye money! 😩🤬🍺🍺🍺🍺

North Carolina burned me too. The only loss in an 11 leg parlay. I don't usually post in this thread, because I'm just a small time sports bettor. Blackjack is my game. I do like to read and see what everyone else is doing though.

I do have a $50 bet on the Chiefs to win the Super Bowl at +600. Caesars was offering a preseason promotion with a $50 minimum bet on a Super Bowl winner, and you'd receive a $5 weekly free bet after each win that season, up to 10 wins. So it was a no-brainer to do that.

I also stepped out there a few weeks ago when San Francisco was -900 to beat the Cardinals and bet $207 to win $23. Any given Sunday and all that, but I just felt like that was free money. Other than that, I'm usually just nickel and dime compared to you high rollers.

In regard to your winning of $23. A win is a win. Got to feel good about that regardless of the amount Money went your way,not the other way. I am in your betting league. Just a small amount "investor".

I live in Missouri, which does not yet have legal sports betting, so I have to venture over to Kansas once or twice a week just to use the Caesars app. Once I'm back in Missouri, I'm pretty much locked into my bets. I can't really hedge or use the early cash out options. Therefore, for the most part, I don't really risk much. The amounts are small enough that it would cost more in time and gas to go back to Kansas to try to "save" that bet than to just let the chips fall where they may.

There is a casino over on the Kansas side that has a live betting window and a bunch of self serve kiosks. They are running a promotion this NFL season that if you bet a minimum of $10 each week, for all 18 weeks, then in January they will add either $1,000 in free slot play or $2,000 in free food comps to your player's card. So I've been making those bets for myself and "helping" 2 other people by providing the money and telling them what to bet. Through week 5, I was still $6.30 to the good, but San Francisco and Philadelphia both burned me last week and I lost all 3 bets, so I'm now down $23.70 on the year for that, but a third of the way to $6,000 in overpriced casino food. Lol
