I dont think Mac looked especially good today. got the win though

If that pick 6 had stood, I believe we lose the game. Either way, Mac did not look good.

RB Damien Harris, C David Andrews,WR DeVante Parker and RT Marcus Cannon are all out of today's Colts game. Cannon got put on IR and will miss at least the next four games which sucks seeing that he's been playing pretty well since returning to NE.
Also, looks like McCourty,Wise Jr,Barrmore,Uche,Dugger,Phillips and Jack Jones all listed as questionable for this game

  • thisistheshowthisistheshow Posts: 9,386 ✭✭✭✭✭

those are some big names out or maybe out. This is a pretty important game today.

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 8,945 ✭✭✭✭✭

Its tough trying to gauge how good/bad this Colts team may be sitting at 3-4, they've got a rookie QB making his 2nd nfl start but they've also got Taylor at RB who could have a monster game.
From a Pats perspective.hopefully Mac's throws are on point this afternoon.

Winning this game is important. But more important is Mac playing well. Being accurate and smart. IMO. I'm definitely looking forward to it. I'll have to stream it. I'm ready. LETS GO

I agree. We do need that win though to keep pace in the Wild Card race when we're sitting at that 8th spot tied with the Bengals at 4-4. After that its that next tier of teams that are a game or two under .500.
We do have some somewhat tough games coming up after Indy and our bye w/the Jets here,@Vikiings then the Bills come to town. Then @Cards,@Raiders before finishing with three tough ones with the Bnegals & Fins coming to town before finishing out @ Buffalo. Maybe the Bills clinch everything beforehand and sit everyone that week lol.

I missed the game. I'm at the mercy of reading about it. I guess I could find a replay, but still.

Id like opinions...I'm reading some things this morning, but they vary. What says any of you?? 🤷🏈

  • thisistheshowthisistheshow Posts: 9,386 ✭✭✭✭✭

Jones was sacked 6 times. Average time of 2.84. I know we were spoiled with Brady's quick release, but we also benefit from him taking what he could get on short routes. I was McDaniels biggest critic, but I'd give anything for him back. I've been reading that O'Brien might be considered for next year if he is available.

His rookie year his release was 2.6. that was 10th in the league. Pretty good. This year I don't know. What I do know is that when your O line is this bad, the routes need to be very quick developing.

Also, we will be seeing a Vikings team on Thanksgiving that is very motivated coming of a shameful loss. For those of you who do t really follow the Cowboys, they have a world class defense that I consider better than ours. But this Pats defense is very very good. But we have trouble scoring. We will need to dominate the takeaways this upcoming game. Talking something like 0 or 1 turnover and 3 or 4 takeaways. That includes Vikings fumbles and interceptions. Sounds impossible. But either way, what is the recipe for winning when you don't score??

Both defenses played lights out but neither offense really showed up yesterday. The Pats got some yards but couldn't get into the end zone and it didn't help that Folk missed two FGs. I thought I heard the announcers saying that the new punter was the holder on these but who knows if that played into missing.

That Marcus Jones punt return was a thing of beauty and I read somewhere that this game was the first time he had both of his parents there at the same time which was great for that family.

The bad news is looks like center Dave Andrews might be done for the season with a thigh injury while Wynn & Brown both had injuries as well. Not what you want to hear after seeing the Jets D sack Mac 6 times.

Our o line was already bad, and got worse. Even playing a pretty good Jets defense, having no offensive touchdowns is pitiful.

Mac had some snaps where the Oline gave him plenty of time but on most of those sacks the Jets defense just swarmed him and really didn't give him much time to get rid of the ball. NE's D did this to Wilson too. I haven't clicked on any of the articles but it seems like there are plenty out there today about Jets players aren't too happy with how Wilson has played.
I think BillJones mentioned in another thread that the Jets finished with two total yards in the second half which is pretty wild.

Let me add to my comment on the Cowboys vs Pats defense. I realize going into yesterday they were, I think, 2 and 3 respectively. The Pats defense is more than very very good. It is great. I just have seen a lot more of the day to day stuff with the Cowboys and think it is better. Either way, if we can hold the Vikings under 20 I think we can should win.

  • BillJonesBillJones Posts: 33,942 ✭✭✭✭✭

Too bad the Pats lost to the decrepit Bears at home. Every game matters. If the Pats had won, they would have had three losses like the Bills.

Its going to be a tough game. Although Mac is coming off his best performance in that Thanksgiving loss I think the Bills-Pats game comes down to if our defense can slow down Josh Allen's offense. We can't see a repeat of what we watched in the playoff game between these two.

I haven't checked on our injury report yet but hopefully we've got most of our main Olinemen available for this game.

I'm afraid to see what the Pats OL will look like tonight. Andrews,Wynn & Cannon are already ruled out tonight and Brown & Cajuste are both questionable.

Yes, but we really needed the td there, and we looked anemic. Play calling, offensive scheme, and play execution all quite bad. O line a mess. Personnel lacking on offense. I said before the season I would be looking for a cleaned up, much less of a mistake-infused product this season. I'm not seeing it.

As you know I didn't have much optimism for this team, the coaching staff is a joke as well

We still have an outside shot at a WC spot but with their 5 games left its going to be tough getting in. Here's our remaining schedule against the teams directly above us:
    BALT (7-4) - Broncos/@Steelers/@Browns/Falcons/Steelers/@Bengals
    NYJ (7-4) - @Vikings/@Bills/Lions/Jags/@Seahawks/@Dolphins
    CINCY (7-4) - Chiefs/Browns/@Bucs/@Pats/Bills/Ravens
    LAC (6-5) - @Raiders/Dolphins/Titans/@Colts/Rams/@Broncos
    NE (6-6) - @Cards/@Raiders/Bengals/Dolphins/@Bills

We're likely to finish 2-3 leaving us at 8-9 for the season and landing our draft pick somewhere in the 14-18 range. I'd rather just see us lose all 5 games then retool through the draft & free agency while finding someone that can actually run an offense as OC. This two offensive coordinator idea failed miserably and last night is where it stood out the most.

I want to mention again that I would love to see Brady back in NE. I heard rumors of this earlier in the year, and now this story is really picking up steam. I know that it sounds impossible.

So Craig makes a creepy comment about his tommy and this board just shuts down?

Man…………… kind of a weird ending to the raiders game, no? 🫢

  • erikthredderikthredd Posts: 8,945 ✭✭✭✭✭

I've been away dealing with some miserable health issues and watching that abortion in Vegas right after seeing the Celtics blow a 2nd straight home game to the Orlando Magic seemed like the perfect ending to this day of misery.

All I know is Raiders fans should never complain about The Tuck Rule game after this game in Vegas. First the refs gave you the game tying TD when your WR stepped on the line then the Pats offense gave you the game just minutes later.
All I could do was laugh as Jones ran it back.

  • DarinDarin Posts: 6,966 ✭✭✭✭✭

Eric I hope your health issues have gotten better!

The only reason I posted here was to tease the numerous pats fans we have but I like all you guys and you’re all very loyal to your team.
But that was a weird, crazy way to end a game. 😂

After the refs didn't overturn that game tying TD by the Raiders I just figured we'd have a rough ending one way or another. Definiteluy wasn't expecting the one we got though lol.
You know chandler jones will party it up a little extra tonight after that win.

I am curious why the first lateral was made. I know that won't be the one talked about really, but still...

In my opinion, this is not a well-coached team. And neither is the roster, in general, much to brag about.

Stevenson said after the game that the play was set up as a run, then get down. I guess it was reiterated in the huddle. The play was to get down, then play overtime. neither lateral should have happened.

I sure wish I could have been a fly on the wall in the locker room after the game. would have been interesting.

all the coaching in the world cant fix stupid. I agree though, with the exception of BB, this coaching staff stinks.

As an employee at the stadium, and thus a Raider fan, that was darn exciting to be there live. On the other hand we all thought his foot was out of bounds on that catch. I will forever remember one guy in a Gronk jersey, near me, who was in utter shock. I'll never forget that face. I don't think he was mad, I don't think he was sad, I think he was in utter shock! I have been to a lot of exciting sporting events but that last play was probably #1 that I witnessed live!

He was definitely on the white line but said white line was perpendicular to both pilons so it very well could have been looked at as part of the endzone, bottom line they need to make the whole thing black if that's their case as to why he was called inbounds

it's one thing to come up short after you've left your blood, sweat and tears all over the field, but when you literally hand a game to the opposition because you fail to exhibit a lick of situational awareness, there should not be a place for you on that particular roster.

i'd love to ask Stevenson and Meyers what they felt the endgame was going to be with that hot potato/lateral nonsense. especially Meyers. ok so you uncork it across the middle of the field to your quarterback. best case scenario, Jones catches it. then what? he's gonna throw it after they've already run it? he's gonna lateral it to the invisible teammate behind him? he's gonna morph into Steve Young and take one all the way to the house?

both of those bona fide idiots deserved to be cut today -- their teammates didn't deserve that fate

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
