Love these little coins. I can't imagine the immense undertaking to put together a complete date and mint mark set of these coins.
The 1899 has a mintage of only 27,200. MS-65
The 1899 QE gets little respect. Only 178 are graded PCGS 64 and it's $1000, 84 of them at 65 for $1750. There are only about 50 graded higher. Even the 1898, with 24,000 minted isn't crazy expensive compared to what has happened in the other gold series. I bought the 1898 and 1899 a few years back in PCGS 64. Fun to own and not as expensive to buy.
Thanks for info! I am just diving into gold, after being focused completely on silver issues...Lot's to learn! I really like the look of this particular coin.
why isn't that in a 7 holder? i see the tpgs cramming all kinds of beat up gold into holders at least 2 grades above what the coins look like and yours looks like a 7 but its in a 5 holder? what did i miss?
Love ya Buddy! I know, that little 1899 is a gorgeous little gem. It glows in the dark, Here's another good one I picked up a few months ago. It's in a 63 holder, no CAC.....It seems very undegraded to me, compared to the bag marked coins you typically see.

I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

LOL.
Totally agree.
Lotsa bling in here.
Here is the only liberty head quarter eagle in my possession in the raw, picked up for the Dansco 7070 gold page.
Do you have an RPD on your 1907? Looks like your "1" is doubled in the date.
To be honest after my heart attack I gave my gold type set to my son.
So I don't have it on hand to check.
I just received the new Quarter Eagle Red Book (Bowers Series) this past week. My understanding now is there may be a few variations of repunching for the 1907.
Here is one of my repunched '07's for reference:
A Barber Quartet is made up of Nickels, Dimes, Quarters, and Halves.
I need to watch for a copy of that QE Gold Coinage book. I have his book for the Eagle coinage and refer to it often
