So I did a show today about an hours drive away. The only reason I did the show was Doc Gooden was an autograph guest. I am a sucker for any of the 80s superstars. Few burned as bright as Doc. The show was abysmal for attendance. I managed to sell a hand few of things and picked up some stuff to stash.
I chose these to get signed because my best cards of him were already slabbed and I did not want to crack an 80s 10.
The good thing about the show being so slow is I got to talk to Doc for a bit and I decided to buy a jersey he had there as well for him to sign
When I got home my wife had my latest sub ready for me to open from PSA. Here are a few highlights. Very happy with the 92 Fleer Lumber Companies.
This guy is one fo the six 300 game winners who pitched the bulk of their careers with the Braves franchise. Obviously, contemporary stuff is a bit out of my league, so I've been looking for something like this.

Picked me up a nice case! Not sure if I’m gonna BBCE it, or have a massive ripping fest! 🤔
Love 1986 Topps! Before you ship that big boy to BBCE, you might want to email Steve about it first. 1986 Topps cases weren't taped at the top, they were glued. Typically Steve won't wrap boxes as "From a Sealed Case" if the top of the case is taped and the factory glue underneath isn't still intact. The only way for Steve to know, I think, is for him to carefully peel the tape off the top and then see if the flaps underneath are still properly glued. But when you are doing your math on how much it will cost to wrap vs. what the value of the end product will be, you might want to discuss that issue with Steve to make sure your numbers are correct. I have a case like yours, and I'm perfectly happy to have it sitting on my shelf! Nice purchase!

dictoresno - how was the sub experience with CSG. Turnaround, grading consistency, communication, etc.
Every big game that Derrick Henry has makes me itchy to sub my small stack of Optic RCs and Prizms. Even if I don't get "PSA prices", they are too nice to sell raw.
submitted back in April before the surge when they were still meeting their 30 day bulk turn arounds. didn't even open my package till June and literally just returned. for $8 a card, can't complain I guess. I would use them again, but probably not really for my PC stuff. ill stick to PSA for that I think.
That is a nice looking Kareem. I focused on key rookies of him, Brown, and Aaron for years and have seen a lot of cards, unless I am missing something, like the smudge near Milwaukee, edited to add I also see a smudge near the top, or a small crease that I cannot see it is under graded. IMHO that is a fine example that took a ding under the recent modern grading scrutiny.
That exact example of card is why I would have avoided the recent 1969 Topps Tallboy unopened pack with West and Havlicek showing that sold at auction for 20K. Unless you somehow hit a PSA 8 or above Hav in addition to a Kareem PSA 6 or above, or some other PSA 9 star you would lose money if you opened the pack.

Diesel month for card browsing. Love the signed 62 Robinson and Goodens. That 74 Ryan is a favorite Ryan and that is a great example atop a cello. Great Mick rookie, too, lots of fun stuff to scroll thru.
Pumped to add my ideal signed 56 Mantle to my signed 50s Mick collection. Abandoned the 60s and completion as the two big ones have really become cemented at 200k+ each. This 1956 completes the look I was going for in terms of a uniform aesthetic for them all...

I hear you. Don't have a koufax or Clemente so any card is better than none. Being a Yankee collector I feel the same way about Mantles. Even low grade are out of my price range. We do what we can do.
The nu-card scoops mantle is awesome!!! As is the Cobb is out of the world.

Most (all?) people who buy fifty-year-old packs either do it with the intention of keeping the pack sealed or can afford the pleasure of opening something potentially valuable with the expected value much less. No one buys packs like this with the expectation that there is $30,000 worth of cards inside.

I get it but in this case if you did open you would be lucky to get 5K in graded cards. I guess it's why I only buy unopened when I had planned on opening it. It's also why I haven't bought any since members of the board stopped doing the large group rips from BBCE around 5 years ago. I think my last was the 75 Topps minis.

I know for most this looks like a worthless card but these Hand cut cards are a bitch to find let alone in a very high grade. Wish these weren’t even part of the registry cause now I have more or the Steelers to find.

Yeah I agree. Not worthless at all and the Braves team signed hand cuts from the late 70s have been a quest for me as well. Nice card!!
