it is an unfair playing field to sell to the dealers first and even more unfair to allow them to order 10% of their previous year's levels.
I agree, it is highly unfair to the dealers.
Imagine that last year I bought 10,000 proof ASE's for $650,000 and I do this EVERY YEAR. My prize is that I get to buy only 1,000 of them this year and get shut out of the other 90% of my offer because I'm not allowed to buy for 24 hours after release. If the Mint did that to you, you'd be furious.
Bulk buyers have long been at the back of the line, unable to purchase on the day of release. This doesn't even come close to "levelling the playing field". It is a shoddy way to treat a group of people who spend many thousands of dollars promoting your product to the masses.
I remember 2019 when a lot of people on this forum wanted to get have "long-time Mint customers" to get preferential ordering rights for the ERP because it wasn't fair that all the buying clubs and newbies were competing with them. I guess we only like preferences when we get them.
Even just this year with the V75 AGE, people wanted a lottery of "long-time Mint customers" because that was "more fair".
The USM has always held the viewpoint that they “would distribute their products across collectors/customers as evenly and fairly as possible”
This does not mean allowing dealers/bulk purchasers to get their several thousand coin orders in days in advance of the sales opening.
In the 2008 period when we had a number of products that certain forum members, including myself, ordered heavily in order to force a sellout (as we suspected); the USM purposely cancelled some orders to get a “wider distribution of their product”—-and this is where there were no ordering limits.
Given my past experiences and the USM position of widely distributing their products to collectors—-it only seems fair and I support a lottery or pre ordering period for loyal customers or buyers of certain products with HHL’s.
Does it give preference to long term customers or collectors that annually buy the product —yes it does. But it makes sense.
Johnny come lately with their bots and flipping absolutely everything they acquire just ruin markets. When the last collector leaves the building; these guys will have no one to flip to.....there will be no buyers at the end of the rainbow

How about long term customers who don't buy products very often, who might go years (or decades) between purchases? Would they get the same preference based on their long termness?
My father bought from the Mint every year from 1960 until his death in 1999 and I've been buying every year since 1979...first via mail, then telephone, and now digitally...but using the same accounts...so where's my preferred early purchase offer for limited items?
I must have missed that email...oh wait...they still make me pay shipping at the start of every year...guess I'm not "special" after all.
You know what worse than not getting the congrats ASE, getting it but, the PO not delivering it. Ironically I had the ASE and proof set sail through the Memphis depot. Please tell me someone else is dealing with this, we all know the response I get from CS at the PO.
I just completed my first survey with the mint. My major complaint was that the bots and computers are preventing loyal customers from buying coins from the mint. The mint needs to find a way to allow loyal customers to purchase coins. My second complaint was the markup of the coins from the melt value of the coin has percentage wise been increasing over the years. I doubt if this helps but I did it anyway.

After having slept on this issue...specifically the access to these coins by some large buyers/dealers...
Let's imagine that the coins were released early to these buyers, shipped out, and then a major error is discovered before the coins go on sale to the rest of us...and the remaining coins are destroyed.
And the early releases are suddenly worth $1,000 or $5,000 or $10,000 each!
Would anybody have any issue with the early availability then?
No problem. Also just a hypothetical.
Let's flip it a different way. Suppose they sold a bunch to dealers before release and they end up being a dud and the dealers lose money.
Universal truth: if you agree one of the top 20 customers of any industry, you get preference because of your importance to the company. Like it or not, Apmex is more important to the Mint than you are. If you want to be a member of the club, start buying several million per year which includes a LOT of much less popular issues.

This is happening to me as well. I ordered the ASE and have not received it. It shipped the same day as yours. I put in an inquiry with the USPS. They found my package and said it should arrive in a few days.
"What we are never changes, but who we are ... never stops changing."
Available today!! Yep...Big red ADD TO BAG this morning. So I did, and almost caught it. This is the message spewed out afterwards:
"Your shopping bag can currently not be ordered since one or more of the products in your cart have an invalid price or are not available in the requested quantity. Please remove the product(s) with prices marked as N/A from your cart or change the quantities to the available amount. If you have any questions, please contact customer service."

Remember now, I only put 1 in my bag!!
They've started using that message whenever the coin is unavailable. I've had it on my bag for a week or more because of the coin sitting in my cart.
Thank God, also thank you everyone for the calming words, finally moved and should get it today or tomorrow. Now, I have to do it all over again, just bought the 1/2ounce ASE and the 1/10th. It should get bumped up to expedited shipping, I HOPE
Picked up a 2021-W Proof ASE on the 13th of Feb at the 7:30am inventory flip. Shipped on the 25th of Feb and finally arrived today. Quite the bummer seeing so many here having issues getting their hands on coins while the dealers get first/early dibs and have them up for sale, in slabs, before they are even released. Patience is a virtue in a rigged game, best of luck to all.
Okay, to recap, I made an offer for $160 (+3 for shipping) for PR70 Congratulation 2021 W FDOI and @coinsaddict2020 accepted in mid January. Then came the message that he didn't get the coin BUT he offered to provide a 2021 W PR70 FDOI as an alternative. I accepted (for the same price) and today it arrived like this
So appreciative of his efforts to make things right!

I only buy slabbed coins, unless it's an impossible issue (V75) that I will have to pay for evaluation.

Believe it or not, I have less than 10 left!
Didn’t you have like 110 the other day?! What happened?
A few more than that, but I found a retailer paying $100 per, so I flipped 110 to him. That leaves me with 7, I believe.
I was still selling 4 or 5 per day, but they have slowed down. At $116 on eBay, the net after shipping was $103ish. So, on the flip, after fees and shipping I'm netting $96.50 and it was just easier to flip the 110.
I do have 4 that just shipped from the Mint, so I guess I'll be up to 11 again next week! LOL

I think, all told, I flipped 410 out of 635. I made more on the singles, BUT THEY WERE ALMOST ALL SINGLES!!!
On the bright side, I shipped each one using 3 eBay padded envelopes, so I managed to work down my hoard of padded envelopes also! LOL

So, you won't wait for the new design to come out?
Since I'm now down to zero - pending my 4 that are in the mail - the answer is NO!
The trajectory on these things tends to be down. I don't think these will drop as fast as others because of the Type 2 release, but I don't expect them to go up. You have to remember, the only reason the price is up at all is not because these are rare or in short supply, they are simply distributed unevenly because so many people bought 99 (or more). Every sale that is made on eBay decreases the pressure on prices.
Of the 225 I sold on eBay (I flipped the other 410), 90% of them were singles. The person that bought it wanted one. They are the end user and no longer in the market to buy anymore.
Maybe they will have some legs for a while, but I've been flipping these things long enough to know the risk. I sold the $110 at a net +$23 profit. If I held them, I could probably have sold more of them for the +$30 I was getting singly. There's a small chance I could have gotten +$40 at some point. But there's a MUCH larger chance that I would be getting +$0 by Memorial Day (or worse).

What’s this thread about? It seems we have went way off courses.
Nothing this morning
I noticed that a TV vendor was selling a package deal of both the Type I and Type II 2021 ASE.
Proof or Roll editions of the Eagle?
Both would be easy to achieve, the rolls are super easy.
Proof. Of course, the Type II wouldn't be shipped until it's released.

Proof offer.
Bullion offer.
Combo offer.
Note - I am NOT promoting this in any way, shape, or form. Merely posting it for informational purposes.

I think the relevance here, for those following this coin, retailers are still paying $100 for these. So they haven't crashed yet.

apmex is selling the 1 oz 2021-w proof raws w box/coa for $170!!
who in their right mind would buy at that price when you can get from the bay for so much less?!
does apmex doing this drive prices up on the bay? can't imagine it would, but didn't know if others have seen effects from things like this
apmex typically has higher than retail prices
And if you trust Apmex but don't trust eBay....?
Caught one in the bag this morning! Surprised to see the red ADD TO BAG button up this late in the game.
2nd time this week. Very small numbers. Not really that unusual for 1 or 2 to show up until it is sold out.
