Bought the 37 because it is about as mark free as the come and it meets my requirements. Bought the 1833 half to finish my year set of 1833. 1/2 cent, cent, half dime, dime, quarter, and now the half.
Found these in a little mom and pop. Just getting into the game, so I haven't attributed it yet. Actually found a few nice looking ones for cheap (I think). Honestly, I almost felt bad
I’m one of the suckers who have collected every American Innovation release , proof and reverse proof, from the mint. I figure that at least I’m paying release prices and not more trying to add to the run from the secondary market
Consolidation of losses 😂so to speak. In that vein, I noticed that I didn’t buy the 2020 AI proof set and went to look if they were available from the mint. Unavailable every time I checked. Then last week, middle of the day, I checked and the little red button was all lit up. $24 later and I was an owner. Went back next day, unavailable again. I guess the point is you never know with the mint 😁
Collection now up to date. Normally I would bail on these but I needed somewhere to waste a little money and hey, I’ve got the whole run😂. My new purchase 🙃

Everyone has their collecting preferences but I must tell you that I’d find that compulsion to own every mint product run terribly burdensome and just no fun.

Yeah, its a bit rough... But its an 1809!! I'm all in at just under $140 for this one.

After years of random buying, I've decided that I'm gonna specialize (kind of!) I will focus on a set of 1964-1970 proof/SMS halves. After that I might expand to other 20th century proofs.
This thing has a deep cameo obverse and a nice cameo reverse. I think I got it for a great deal.
Another GC pickup from this past weekend. It had been years since I won a gold CAC coin on GC. Never expected to own a 66CAC $5 Liberty. Bidding was low this past weekend. My benefit I guess. The very low CAC pop (12 at grade and 5 higher) drew me to this date. That and my interest in 1908 gold coinage.

I did not think I had a chance to win this one last night. Didn’t plan on having a 64CAC $3 gold piece but it was a slow night at GC.
Dang! You’re on a roll! Splendid piece! The $5 too! 👍🥳
Thanks @asheland , two coins I never thought I had a chance to win. I put in lowball bids and sat and watched. It was a strange GC auction Sunday. Maybe the holiday lull.
That is FANTASTIC! Score. Is it graded? If not will you go though pcgs and get trueviews ?
Thanks! It’s raw. Was not sure how it would grade with that spot on the obverse bottom left. Open to grading for sure.
I went ahead and looked it up. It says Restrike. I’ve not seen a Restrike of this one. But, then again I’ve never seen a Pain
token with a bird/devil on the giblet before. It looks brass to me too…….is it?
Also, if it’s a Restrike I’m not sure pcgs would grade it but NGC will.
Also as far as the s-or goes, can you take an up close image? I can’t tell what kind of spot it is.

Yes I will
I won the auction last night. 1870 restrike. I went through about 500 coins today looking at images and it appears the restrike took two different coins and made one (didn’t find any with the back and front matching) and then they added the bird and deleted the hanging rope. Definitely an interesting piece from the 1800’s

Yes, super cool @johnny010 there’s a conder token place on Facebook run by Gary Groll. Maybe post it there and ask.
I would love to find out. Restrike san be rarer than the original. Would be awesome if pcgs recognizes it.
If you can find the NGC number assigned to it then Pcgs would do it.

I've been anxiously awaiting the arrival of this NEWP, which arrived today. As you can tell - it's a BIG coin!
It's a 1 1/2 Taler from 1655, weighing 43 grams and 55mm in diameter - a Morgan dollar weighs "only" 26.7 grams, and is about 38mm!

Picked up a nice upgrade from my old MS65RD on Great Collections. Not an expensive coin but needed in my 1960 set.
