for those that like a little onery-ness, so we CAN have blue coins w/o being MS70ed!!!!!!!!!!!

I can understand both sides but to suggest I should just buy one from another source that’s already been “opened” and graded would be a haystack too large.
This one if I’m not mistaken is top 34 so what are my chances or cost if I did find one. And honestly you have to ask yourself, is that really gonna be good enough.

I got my order of quarters from my bank yesterday. For the first time for me, I got a BU box. I was hoping for Maya Anjelou's, but got Nina Otero Warren quarters. I live about 50 miles north of the Philadelphia mint, in NE Pa. So, I thought they would definitely be P-mints, but I got a surprise. They are Denver minted coins! I don't know how I got D-mint coins over here, but I will take them. I found my first 2022-P Otero Warren quarter a day earlier. Now I have 2,000 --- 2022-D's.

@Treashunt the coin has MS68 type of surfaces but the hits will drag her down to 66/+ and that’s OK too because the toning fits the set I’m building.
Now to find more that have been treated a little better :-)

    It'll be an amazing set.

Picked up 10 rolls of pennies today. Find so far is this 1972-D DDO-004. No designers initials at side of building.

Pretty worn but still identifiable by the reverse die break on column 11.
This is the first 1972-D DDO that I have found.

Thanks Coinscratch! I did not know that. How do you determine which are the tougher ones to find? Is there a rarity scale somewhere?

I don't know what to make of this 2018-D Cumberland quarter?
DDR? TDR? QDR? or something else? Please tell me what you think! Thanks!
I cannot find any info on any of the DD websites.

I'm struggling with this one...no expert for sure.
I'm thinking because the doubling is following along the curvature that's it's some type of die deterioration doubling.
But also it's looking somewhat legit in places.
I'm going to say out loud that I think it's some type of deterioration + mechanical doubling??

Impaired proofs are always fun! I jut have no idea what to do with them lol

Some very odd die wear I'm thinking...

Hey @Coinscratch just added these to the search piles. My teller apologized, "all I have is new ones for you"
I said "let me tell you about a little ongoing challenge regarding amazing dimes...those are EXACTLY what I want!"

@kurisu I'm seeing luster on those dimes :'(
You could make a chandelier out of those impaired proofs - not sure if that's legal though.

I like the W but I like the background on the picture even better. Nice art work on that one - picture perfect.

@Fraz....Nice catch on the W quarter. I am still hunting for my first 'in the wild' W quarter. I pay with cash a lot, get lots of quarters, even new ones, but no W so far. Cheers, RickO

  • KurisuKurisu Posts: 1,994 ✭✭✭✭✭

The last two finds in the nickel box and a pretty nice W last night.
And I was just thinking that it seems like about a month since I spotted a W!

This is a total of 18 boxes, I search 6 boxes a week. I normally don't get that much silver. That was a good week getting 12 pieces of silver.

Don’t feel bad @Kurisu I think I’m an addict too.
Some good luster and toners but we’ll see if any are good enough.

ya thanks. it is the lone example i've found that big by far. wasn't much interest in it surprisingly. perhaps there are a bunch elsewhere. doing roll searches results can vary extremely by region. cest la vis. ;)

    happy searching
