Well...congrats Steve. The Eagles did more with less and won the NFC East. I think you will draw the loser of the 49'er Seahawks game. You will get to play at home, but I don't see you beating either of them.

    Thanks Jon.

My expectations aren't very high of the Eagles getting to the Super Bowl, and you may be right about the upcoming game. But in any event, it feels good to be in the playoffs. :)

Sort of amazing that Carson Wentz, often injury plagued, stayed healthy the entire regular season, but so many of the other Eagles starters unexpectedly went down.

You just never can tell in the crazy world of the NFL.

We had our chance last week. We win that game and this week doesn't matter. We played crappy and lost. I am afraid the Jones will never sell the Cowboys in my lifetime....so unless Jerry becomes a owner and STFU and lets the HC do his job I will never see another great Cowboy team.

I doubt very much if Jerry Jones will ever do it.

He's a super rich curmudgeon with a giant ego. Not a very good combination for him ever keeping his hands off the football game aspect of the team as you so correctly stated he should.

There's a new folk hero in Philly........Boston Scott. Amazing job by the coaching staff also by having all these guys ready and put them positions to excel.

Looks like Seattle lost that game on purpose......so they would get to play the Hummingbirds...…..which will be the same as a bye for them. Well played Seattle.

Lots of posts discussing pocket passers (Brady, Brees), QB’s with designed runs (Lamar), and pocket passers with mobility and opportunity runners (Wilson, Rodgers, Prescott, Wentz). Wentz is playing much smarter - sliding earlier, avoiding big hits, and not forcing passes. Once Eagles are healthy, you have a good leader for years to come. Injuries have really hurt your season.

Now thinking like that makes me realize how Dallas fans can't handle the facts. If you think the Eagles will be an easy out in the playoffs, I believe you are sadly mistaken. The coaching staff has now had time to adjust to the mounting list of injuries and have figured out how to best use the talent of the players remaining. Honestly, ask yourself, if the situation was reversed and the Dallas team lost that many top starters, do you think that the coaching staff would be able to fill in with guys who had played extremely limited snaps if at all and have them be as productive in a game that actually matters against a good team?
The Eagles were home dogs against Atlanta during the Super Bowl run, no one gave them a chance with Foles at QB. Several years back, the lowly Seahawks got into the playoffs as home dogs against New Orleans and nobody gave them a chance either. That's why they actually play the games!

If the Eagles show up early, it will be interesting for a while. If they don’t, it’s a blow out.

Too many Eagles’ players are too fragile. The team will need to re-tool at the end of the season.

I agree...….way too many injuries for Philly to overcome. They just barely beat the Giants and Skins!

I'm waiting to see my eagle (the bird) fly by my work
about 20 ft high looking for food, ya a driveby.
Saw him during the playoffs of 17.
First time, the day before Atlanta
Second time, day before Minasota, he followed me driving down the entrance road.
Super Bowl...The day before, he stood on the very top of a dead tree, it was rainng
earlier so he opened up his wings as to dry off.
Logged, documented and all three times witnesed by others.
We began looking for him after the first.
    Havent seen him....... yet!

Tough call in this playoff game against Seattle.

The kids on offense for the Eagles have done a nice job stepping it up and helping to win enough games to get the Eagles into the playoffs. Now with the faster pace of the playoff games, they will need to step it up even further to get a win today. Are they capable of doing that or not may be the X factor in this game.

And don't forget, this is the first playoff game for Carson Wentz. I'm sure he's hungry to get a playoff game win under his belt, but he needs to relax and not get too juiced-up which could result in overthrowing his receivers or costly interceptions.

I think Pederson can coach up not only Carson Wentz, but his new players as well. Get them in the right mind frame to succeed out there.

Another thing i like, Doug Pederson has seemed to shake off some of the bad game calling habits he had developed, and now seems to be properly game calling. I think Pederson will out-coach Pete Carroll in this game.

Whether or not all this will be enough for an Eagles win, we shall see.

But i'm choosing the Eagles to find a way to win this football game in front of their home field fans.

I know exactly where you are coming from Steve. Seattle is a pretty good team with a very very good QB. Pete Carroll has been know to pull some very dumb moves. If you (Eagles) find a way to win this game with all the injuries you have....I will be impressed. That runt RB is a beast even if he is just a little beast. I think he is so small that the defense can't see him until it's too late. And he is quick! I would say good luck...….but I just can't. You understand.

Wentz is headed to the locker room with a possible concussion protocol. The Seattle Buzzards, with Petty Carol, one of my least favorite coaches, just got a big break.

I hope Baltimore stays in the play-offs. If they lose, there won’t be much for me to root for.

Sanders is even more pivotal than Wentz to that offense.

Petty Carol gets all the breaks after he moved to Seattle. When he was in New England he ran the team to the ground.

Back then, Pete Carol was the same as Dimeman’s Garrett.

It’s over. A beat-up team did the best it could. It sucks when the favored team gets the big break when the opposition’s first string quarterback get injured. Wentz probably would not have made a difference, but we will never know.

Well it was an interesting season for the Eagles, but it's now over.

Good luck to fans whose teams are still in the Super Bowl hunt. :)

The Eagles and their fans have nothing to be ashamed of. The team was missing 90% of their offense coming into the game and then lose their QB. The defense kept them in the game. Anytime you hold the other team to 17 points you have a good chance of winning.

Maybe not this game, but any team that let the Cowboys beat them this season has at least something to be ashamed of.

This is for you @thisistheshow - Jim Rice was actually a pretty good player.

That did look like OPI on that TD by Seattle in the end zone. Dez used to get called for that all the time with less contact than that. Just saying.

Ugly game, yes, but I doubt Wentz would have mattered. Tonight was the official DK coming out party.

Just curious what the sentiment is here? I heard all the media and watched the game. What do people here think about the Clowney hit on Wentz? Clean or dirty? Penalty or Not?

Helmet on helmet hit on a player already going down and from behind as well.

I watched the video and am amazed at how he didn't get called for the H to H hit. Wouldn't you also call Wentz as being in a "defenseless" position?

I sure hope Wentz can recover and have a career.

If I remember correctly (had some SD's) he (wentz was already down and it was H to H. Not saying it was intentional H to H, but it was H to H. Also a QB running should slide feet first not head first. It was a case of Wentz giving it all trying to get all he could for the team. Wentz has guts I will give him that. Hope the injury is not serious and he is OK. Wentz and the whole Eagle team played their hearts out. You gotta love that. I don't know if it is team spirit or coaching on down, but I wish the Cowboys had that fire. Maybe the new HC will get them going....I don't know. I do know he was forced out of Green Bay because he didn't agree with Rodgers on everything and that is a BAD sign!

I haven't seen the replay yet.
Local radio was at a fever pitch, NFL fans gathering tourches and pick forks.
If true, this 1 yard run by Wentz,(with submission) ends up as stated,
I think its kinda clear this was his intention.
Mr. Goodell you can go to your car now, the coast is clear. RUN

One of the things that bothers me is that the referee had the audacity to come out later and say that his crew didn't see anything wrong with that hit. I never really thought there were different sets of rules for the "star" QB's but watching something like that makes we wonder. Later in the game, Wilson is being rushed, throws a pass before getting sacked and the DE Barnett pushes Wilson. He did take two steps before he pushed him and Wilson fell down. He didn't tackle him, he didn't hit him low, it didn't even like he pushed him that hard, but the flag immediately came out. What type of message does that send?
I'm not saying that the penalty on Clowney was the difference in the game, but he was allowed to spear and late hit the QB and force him out for the rest of the game. Without Wentz, the Eagles had no real chance to win. McCown played a gutsy game, probably one of the better performances I've seen in those circumstances...and 40 years old to boot. My hat goes off to him; what a way for you to end your career!

well even if they ejected him he was still hurt. Granted Clowney might be gone too , but it doesn't prevent the injury from happening

The point I was making was that there seems to be different standards for throwing the flag as I stated in my post. I also did state that the Eagles had no real chance of winning once Wentz went out; nothing changes that fact. There was no way Clowney was going to be ejected for that hit; this isn't the college game here ( I think only two players were ejected all year in the NFL). I'm just stating that Wilson draws a flag for basically being given a little shove, while a H to H hit goes without one. Eagles fan or not, as a football observer, it's just not right

It was definitely a hard fought game. Josh McCown came in and played well. I hope Wentz is okay. I read that his wife was called into the locker room, maybe to try to calm him down after he was told he couldn't go back out? If anyone can confirm that let us know.

Several of the reporters here in Philly stated that his wife was called down to the locker room right after he left the field...no reason given. Wentz has not made any statements since the game, but has tweeted that he is feeling much better and will be fine.
