I dedicate this thread to Tony Curry

  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,421 ✭✭✭✭✭

The Tony Curry card brought out the Phillies win today.

    Thank you Tony!

Gee I almost feel bad by making fun of the Phillies...…..but naw….I don't. I actually would love to see them break that 1961 record of straight losses! B)>:)

Please don't disrespect Tony Curry who played in 1961, my new good buddy who was instrumental in the Phillies win today.

Good win tonight over the Giants.

Especially nice to get a win over another team contending for a playoff spot.

Won again, 10-2 over the Giants.

Nothing like a good fight between the Mets and Phillies! :)

  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,421 ✭✭✭✭✭

Now tied for second place. Nothing to really celebrate but for now I'll take it. At least the Phillies are hanging in there.

Seems to be setting up for a dogfight for the two wild card spots. Wouldn't surprise me if it comes down to the final game of the season.

Urgh, losing 2 outta 3 to the White Sox.

The Phillies lost that first game...they had the White Sox down by 1 run, top of the 9th, 2 outs, and an 0-2 count on the batter. You have to win a game at home against a team like this in a situation such as that. But the Phils didn't.

That game and a few others, may come back to haunt the Phillies when it's wildcard spot time at the end of the season.

I really don't know at this point? :|

Mets are on a 9-1 tear, and possibly back in the hunt for a wild card spot.

    I don't like it...no, I don't like it one bit. 😒

  • stevekstevek Posts: 29,421 ✭✭✭✭✭

The good luck in that Tony Curry card might be used up.

May need to post another vintage Phillies card to get a fresh dose of good luck.

Look at those Mets go! B)

Pesky Mets are the hottest team in MLB right now.

I think the manager has been putting PED's in the dugout water cooler.

Way to help us get a nice road win! 👍

Woooo, happy to see a few more wins accumulated by the Phils lately. I have been preoccupied and not following closely in recent weeks

I just hope it's been "preoccupied" in a good way. :)

I was completing a work project which is now over. The search for gainful employment begins again along with more Phillies victories.

May your next project be fun, interesting, and profitable.

Hopefully along with it comes the Phillies getting into the playoffs. :)

Another loss to Arizona. The way the Mets are playing so hot today, the Phils and the Nats have to worry about being dropped down into 4th and 3rd place soon.

If the Phillies finish in fourth place, seems unlikely that Gabe Kapler will keep his job.

I like Kapler and had high expectations for him. However if he's incapable of motivating this team to perform better, then the Philles will have to find someone else who can.

Still plenty of games left this season, so we shall see what happens.

I always wondered why in the "name of humanity" would Casey who coached the Yankees (great team) want to go and coach the "Mets"! :p

I'm hoping this beefs up the Phils pitching.

It gave him a job in baseball, which about all he had to keep him happy at the end of his life. As for the Mets, they stocked their team with as many old Dodgers, Giants and Yankees, in that order, as they could get. Willie Mays and Duke Snider were the big prizes, and they got both of them at the end of their careers.

I remember in 1962, Casey thought that Willie Mays for Frank Thomas would been a good trade for the Giants. Thomas was among the league leaders in home runs that year.

Well, still a lot of season yet. And while i remain hopeful, it would be a bit naive to be optimistic.

Playoffs are still in the picture, but a NL pennant seems very remote at this point.

The season started with a bang. It isn't a bust yet, but sadly the "bang" has fizzled out.

Phillies office just announced they are replacing their current hitting coach with former Phils manager Charlie Manuel.

Just when ya think the Phillies may drop out of it, they seem to get a win.

Very nice, needed win against the Cubs. Let's see if this success can be sustained.

This was one of the few games where I felt conflicted, I wanted somehow for both Nola and Hamels to get the win. :D

Hamels did win a lot of games for the Phils in the past.
