Doesn't matter though with the way the Saints and Rams are playing. Going
to be very tough getting out of that conference anyway.

As a 58 year Eagles fan, we are used to it. The Eagles don’t have “dynasties;” they have single seasons. We’ll have to wait three or four years after the management gives up on Wentz. He’s toast, and it’s not unusual after that kind of injury.

It’s one more reason why I don’t like the Rams. They ended his career.

The Eagles will lose the next two and perhaps have enough pride to beat the Redskins.

A lot of Patriots players gave up on the last play and let it happen. When guys who are supposed to be able to run 50 yards in 5 seconds and let Miami get away with that many laterals, some people were sitting their butts.

Well this Eagles 2018 season could be summed up that despite the great thrill of winning the Super Bowl last season which also brought along the hope that the Eagles could be a dominant team in the NFL for a number of seasons to come, the Eagles this season for various reasons already noted throughout this thread, just couldn't put it together in a good enough manner to win enough football games.

Good luck to everyone whose teams are still alive to make the playoffs and possibly move on this season to greater heights. 🏈

There's a report out that Wentz will miss the Rams game with a back injury and could miss the remainder of the season. If the Philly front office thinks he's their future they might as well shut him down with the playoffs looking like a long shot at this point.

  • BillJonesBillJones Posts: 33,960 ✭✭✭✭✭

I agree. If Wentz has a future, there is no sense in jeopardizing it on three meaningless games. At this point losing might push them up on the draft pick lottery.

reaching the apex in any given season is obviously quite the task. but staying there is exceedingly difficult. the Eagles are the latest in a long line of teams not named the New England Patriots to find this out.

Wentz did not look right all season long. i bet that knee maxed out at about 75%

you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet

Wentz will probably fight tooth and nail to not be shut down but If the Eagles are smart they should be parking him on the sidelines regardless.

I just saw everywhere on the internet, with Nick Foles now at QB and considering what he did last season, that the Philadelphia Eagles are now the overwhelmingly heavy favorites to win the upcoming Super Bowl.

  • BillJonesBillJones Posts: 33,960 ✭✭✭✭✭

Foles came through in the pitch last season, but he's just a good back-up. If I were the Philly general manager, I'd look into trying to pull a Tom Brady in the draft. I don't think either of the current guys are going to take this team to the promised land.

Frankly, the odds of Foles taking the Eagles to the Super Bowl this season are below zero. I'm not even worried about it any longer. I'm already looking forward to the 2019 season.

Wentz will get plenty of room to succeed in the future. Without question, he will definitely be the starter again in 2019 and in 2020 if he is healthy enough to do so.

If his 2019 and 2020 season are also injury ridden, then the Eagles will have some serious decisions to make about Carson Wentz moving forward.

I have not given up on Carson Wentz, not even close, and I know of no Eagles fan who has. He's a good kid with heart, and that's somebody you root for...but only to a point if the injury situation seems irreversible.

    https://www.nbcsports.com/philadelphia/eagles/eagles-injury-update-carson-wentz-downgraded-doubtful

Eagles injury update: Carson Wentz downgraded to doubtful

Carson Wentz has been downgraded to doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Rams, according to the official injury report released by the team on Friday afternoon.

Just hours earlier, head coach Doug Pederson said Wentz would be questionable for this game, despite also saying that the stress fracture in Wentz’s back will take around three months to fully heal.

Doubtful? Are you kidding me? It should have already been announced that Wentz is done for the season.

Hey Doug, the season is over and you're risking the Eagles greatest asset by far on the team, for nothing. This is starting to really hiss me off.

I'm beginning to think that Doug Pederson is being paid by Jerry Jones to sabotage the Eagles. Somebody check the payroll for the Dallas Cowboys and see if any checks are being made out to a Doug Pederson.

Dimeman...You're close friends with Jerry Jones, check all this out and let us know what is going on here.

I would say that making fun of the Eagles after this game is really piling on. The scheduler has sent them out there for two seasons in a row, which sucks. How would you feel if the Cowboys had to play an away game two years in a row in L.A. given that team’s record? You would not be pleased.

We played them last year out there and lost. You have to play them this year because of your record (and theirs) last year. That is why you are scheduled to play them this year. Our record last year was not as good and we were not scheduled to play them this year.

When the schedule was made no one involved knew that the Eagles were going to have a crap record at this point coming off of a SB win.
Having to play a team at their place two years in a row happens more than you would think. Tomorrow's game in Pittsburgh will be three years in a row that NE had to play a regular season game in Pittsburgh.

All I can say to that is that sort of scheduling sucks, and in the case of Pittsburg and New England, it grounds for accusing the schedulers as biased because both teams have long been known to be consistent playoff teams. I guess the league schedulers are Pittsburg and perhaps LA fans.

NE finished with the #1 seed last season which meant they'd be playing four division winners in 2018. Two from their scheduled divisions to play(AFC South & NFC North).
That leaves the Pats playing the Chiefs & Steelers. KC had to come to Foxboro leaving the Pats going to Pittsburgh and honestly that scenario worked out in the Pats favor.
NE has the Steelers number no matter where they play but beating the Chiefs in KC would arguably be their toughest game in any stadium.

NE has won the previous two games in Pittsburgh and tomorrow's game likely won't have Steelers RB James Conner playing so I'm pretty sure the Pats feel good going into this game.

Bill it is not that at all. A certain amount of games in the schedule are based on the previous years record. So if you were a playoff team last year the part of you schedule will be against other playoff teams from last year.

    Very simple really.

You have been spoiled by the games against the Hummingbirds. ;)

It’s the same why I felt when the Eagles and the Patriots lost to the Lions and likes of the Jacksonville Pussycats. Those games weren’t even close, and neither of those teams is very good. Championship teams really have to win those games.

Come on now...the Cowboys had won five straight and had a big emotional game win last week against the Eagles to basically wrap up the division. This game had "let down" game written all over it for the Cowboys. Th Cowboy's loss today does the Eagles no good whatsoever.

The Eagles badly needed a Vikings loss today and couldn't get it.

I'm not sure, but it may be a loss now by the Eagles against the Rams, mathematically eliminates them. Good...now i can go back to truly enjoying my Sundays such as feeding the squirrels, tending the rabbits, watching the aquarium fish, etc.

The Eagles have been zombies, a dead team walking, for weeks. The squirrels, rabbits and fish should not have been going hungry. Sure I looked at the schedule and figured out what the Eagles had to do to go anywhere, but I never had much hope.

Anybody else think the Rams QB looks like Phoebe's squirrely brother on Friends? I think it is him!
