I was able to add another to a cart that I have not bought with today.. but was not fast enough to also check out. Hopefully there will be another small window tomorrow for that.

Sent it from my house, unopened, stright to PCGS. What are my odds of a graded 70?

    80/20 in favor.

    Don't quote me on that.

  • Thanks dmwest, I will report back when it is graded. Upon logging in at PCGS, it says processing.

What is this optimism based on? Certainly I hope not population reports for which the 69 to 70 data is meaningless.

If it was that easy, 70 prices should be much lower.

I'm an optimistic guy? The ones I've seen all looked pretty darn good and PCGS has said itself that they've had good results with this coin. I don't have any facts to back though...just pure positive speculation.

If you have one in your cart for the next day what is the process?

How do you know when it is available?

Just have everything ready for checkout CC with CV number and the place order button ready.

You can have several windows of the same checkout. At exactly 7:30 AM EST just hit the place order button. I use my computer clock. That is the exact time the mint puts them up for sale. Some say there may be a 10 second delay after 7 30 AM. when they become available. Not sure and I would not wait.

Repeat process in the other windows you have opened. Don't worry about seeing if it went thru, Don't waste your time just go to your next open checkout window and hit the place order button.

Go back in this thread. It has already been discussed how to check out with one in your bag already.

    Good Luck.

  • I need advice from the experts with multiple accounts to tell me what I did wrong. After reading this thread for a few days, I set up a 2nd mint account in my wife's name...new e-mail address, new shipping address and new CC number. The only thing that was the same as my account was last name and the cc billing address. This morning, 4:30 am (PST), I get on line. The coins open up for sale....I toggle over to the other screen (great advice) where I already have one in the cart and ready to go. I hit complete order and it begins processing (I was so happy) only to come back with the message "Household Limit For This Item Has Been Met".

What happened? The only thing I can think of is it is filtering off the cc billing address. Now I am wondering, as other have asked, what is the determining factor of "Household Limit"?

The good news is my original order just arrived this morning and it is being mailed off to a buyer for $2,100.00!!.

I believe that HHL being determined by CC billing address is the correct answer. I assume they have computerized cross-checking, but I'd posit a few lucky buyers have theirs slip thru the cracks.

Once they cross ref the same credit card number being used in two different accounts with two different ship to addresses; they will “link” the account history and you will lose the ability to game the HH limit system.
This HAS happened —you may have games the system this time, butaybe not the next.

Been doing it since 1998. No fear, I have many email accounts and many credit cards.

And, of course. Dozens of people ship to the identical address without difficulty. So, it remains simply untrue that everything has to be unique.

It remains a mystery exactly how they determine unique household, but we are all doing it without difficulty.... and have been for YEARS

Anyone ever asked a rep/agent how HHLs are determined and gotten a valid answer?

Here's my SWAG as to how US Mint household limits are applied. It takes a bit of computing power to examine and match all names and addresses for 15,000 orders. Generally a household might be defined as people with the same last name and living at the same address. It would be reasonable to sort by last name on account and last name on billing address for matches and then match the billing addresses for duplicate orders.

  • jwittenjwitten Posts: 5,144 ✭✭✭✭✭

Make sure your billing address is not one you have used yet. I am pretty sure they just want the zip code to match the actual zip code you set your card up under. In other words, any billing address with the same zip will process ok. I've used made up addresses just to get the zip code to match.

Again, this is what I have done so far.
Different Mint account using different email address. Different shipping address and same billing address with same credit card. I have gotten 3 of my 4 orders and the 4th is pending with the credit card already charged. Now, maybe I’ve been lucky, maybe not. Don’t know, as long As I can keep getting this awesome coin, don’t care.

    Don't quote me on that.

If you make everything different, shipping , billing, name, email, phone, credit card, from your other account. I would also make sure your billing and shipping address are the same.

Might not be necessary, but its the surest way.

Any guesses about next years production limit? They can't really go lower after a 5 minute sellout of this years 15,000. But how high could they go? Maybe keep the same number but pump up the selling price?

I see a few tiny spots to the left of the eagle's head, but it is pretty clean other than that. Nice rims, which looks like that will be a rarity.

It's amazing with only 204 coins not sold that, this far out, they still seem to offer a few each morning. I'd think that they'd be getting towards the very end very soon. That said, with so many orders stuck in "processing" clearly they cancel quite a few and put them back up the next day. Once there are not more in processing I'd guess we'll finally see them change to "sold out".

Hope my Sister's Sunday morning order is only a day behind - "processing".

Congrats on your coin! Very glad that this forum made it possible for you to get it.

  • Yohoooo. I just was able to get my first coin after trying few days in a row. Paid via Paypal and my CC showing already pending charge from US Mint. Thank you guys...

I saw that opening at 7:30. They were available for about 2 minutes. I put one in my bag and then tried to pay and it said they were gone. Congrats.

One of my friends was able to check out today with 1 through the mint website on his cell phone this morning. He added it to his cart yesterday morning but flinched on his CC security code, he completed the check out this morning.

Try again tomorrow! I got one in the cart yesterday and managed to complete the purchase today. I think we're all going based off this guide: https://forums.collectors.com/discussion/1003947/american-eagle-2018-one-ounce-palladium-proof-coin-18ek-currently-unavailable/p12#Comment_12087031

I'd like to know why they are canceling valid orders and then putting them back up for sale. I'm thankful for what I got, dont get me wrong, but to cancel an order based on their not being any in inventory only to sell them to someone else (who is also buying just to flip) is outrageous.
Actually, this whole thing is outrageous! Has socialism infiltrated the mint?? Lol

It sounds like some of you folks have gotten like 10 or more coins. it's incredible that people have been able to set up so many different accounts without violating the household limits to get so many coins. Congrats to those who have been able to pull that off.

Makes you wonder what the record is for number of purchases by one individual directly from the mint at issue price? My guess is someone out there got more than 10. Maybe even 13 or 14. :*

Yes and the listings are decreasing last couple days, I wonder if the raw prices will put pressure on the 70 prices?
Some 69s are selling for $2400 also.

Question: Does PCGS have a process to get dust off the coins before grading? A few of mine have had a tiny speck that appears to just be just dust, not damage, and I don't know whether I should try to get that off before sending in, or let them do it. I've seen graded coins with little specks of debris on them before..

You'd think they blast them with air prior to slabbing them, but I agree, I've seen the same thing.

I've got a RP dime graded 70 and looking at it closely, there's a big speck of dust front row center....grrrrrrr.....how is that even possible? Needless to say it was graded by NGC.
