Nice to get the coins that I got, but it burns me to see later orders honored after my previously confirmed orders are nuked.
Hmmm.... the Mint canceled your illegal order violating the HHL and you are calling that nonsensical?
I'm sorry, is that too combative?
"My illegal order?!" Seriously? Have I committed a crime? Lol
Who do you think is getting online at 730am to place orders every morning?
People are flipping these, my friend. Try and keep up.
You, yourself said that you bought two, committing (dare I say it?) an illegal act!
It is hypocritical to come on with this "holier than thou" attitude about how things would be done if you were running things at the mint. Hysterical, really.
No sour grapes for me, guys. As I said before, I'm thankful for the coin I received. But I do not understand the reasoning behind canceling a confirmed order that is already PAID FOR and going to a SEPARATE household (which is their rule, not mine.) Especially when they then let somebody else purchase multiple coins on a date after that. Just doesnt make sense.
Nor does it make sense that people come on here, talking about how they bought 10 coins on the aftermarket and then criticize those who purchased from the Mint with friends and family for resale as "greedy."
Is the "collector" with 10 coins keeping them all? Probably not, but why should we even care? I dont..
We are all conducting business here, and everyone had and has the same opportunity to order from the Mint. Or you can pay more on the secondary market, if you will lose sleep over such immorality.
All jest aside, this was a fun offering from the Mint. Made me feel like we were back in the good ol days, circa 2006-2008, when everything from the Mint was on fire. I was able to add a lot to my collection just by reselling those coins immediately after purchase.
For anyone with modest means, this too was an opportunity.
You miss my point entirely. First of all, it was half a joke aimed at your calling me combative. But, the semi-serious point is that they HAVE a reason to cancel your order. You refer to it as "nonsensical". It is completely "sensical".
I also said that I would not have gotten two if I were in charge of the Mint. This has nothing to do with my being holier than thou or hypocritical. [That is the filter of your dislike of me.] It is a criticism of the Mint's procedures. My biggest criticism of the Mint - despite my taking advantage of it - is that they don't seem to be able to actually enforce their own HHL. In a data-driven age, that seems almost unforgivable.
That was not meant as a criticism of you for trying to buy as many as you can. It was more a very minor criticism of you for getting mad when every now and then the Mint seems to catch on. HOWEVER, in your defense, I will also say that the Mint reasons for cancellation are not 100% clear from what's been posted here.
Nowhere can I find an official Mint definition of "separate household". It should, as I mentioned, be billing address which should match shipping address. The Mint does not seem to cross-reference these properly. In fact, they end up rewarding people who commit a minor fraud by putting in an incorrect billing address to match the alternate shipping address.
1) One person having more than one account at the mint using different email, CC, billing and shipping addresses is a violation of the spirit of the HHL. The HHL is done to provide more opportunity for more collectors to obtain coin(s) directly from the mint. It's essentially cheating. Modern data base comparison might be able to detect it.
2) One person having friends and relatives order for them is a much smaller violation of the spirit but technically still a violation. More on the level of a white lie. "Do these pants make me look fat?" lie level. More power to ya. Good luck.
3) Hiring actors or employees to stand in line or order for you on their own or a company's computers is major cheating. This might be detectable if say 50 orders come in from the same IP address.
What the mint could do to violators of the HHL?
For 1, a suspension of ordering rights for some period of time.
For 2, not much can be done
For 3, blatant organized cheating could result in longer suspension or even revoking ordering privileges. Repeated violation might result in returning all purchases with proved violations (refunding money paid? Some fraud results in forfeiture of property so acquired. Ask Mr. Manafort.)
I don't expect the mint to do anything for 1 or 3 above. They might be doing it already. I also don't expect the mint to explain in detail any cancellation of an order. Why would they give someone a guide on how to work around the rules?
In my humble opinion, Type 2 is a man of deep integrity. He posted on this forum he would pay a bonus to those willing to purchase for him. I had no interest in this coin, but I messaged him I would give it a shot. I was able to get in an order and messaged him ( knowing these sold out in minutes, and we’re on fire). He even raised the bonus.
This was capitalism at its best. No extra accounts were needed to beat the system. Type 2 made out and I made out. It was a pleasure to work within the system and everyone makes out.

Yes, he was more than fair and completely honorable.
I am appreciative of the passion this issue is creating with the forum. I wholeheartedly agree, it is beautiful, maybe the most beautiful Mint coin made in quite awhile.
It is only because of the high demand that this argument is been made about household limits. I believe the next issue will have a higher mintage. Way too fast of a sellout.
I'm not so confident on more being minted next year Miles. Both years have seen 15,000 made. Both years generated lots of attention. Something the mint likes.
I don't know if it's in the authorization law, if it is, I'd like to see in addition to a 1oz, proof or unc., a half ounce version.
I'd estimate about 3 to 5 seconds. Raufus, you're da man. This process reminds me of Tim Robbins in "Bull Durham". You have to roll your eyes up inside your head and get "in the zone", lol.
Q: Are You Printing Money? Bernanke: Not Literally
I know there's no way to find out, but it would be really interesting to know how many coins are sold on these like 10 second open buying window mornings.
I can't imagine that too many people know about this 730 phenomenon in the grand scheme of things. Although I'm sure there so few coins offered that the few people that do know or scaring for them everyday.

I would like to see a fractional size too. While it would have the largest premium, I believe a 1/10 oz version would be very popular as more people would find it to be affordable.
OK...I'm going to go out on a limb here and repeat that these are actually gone...in the spirit that no recent confirmed orders will actually be filled. This statement is based on the following:
Using "clean" accounts from relatives my confirmed order from last Wednesday was cancelled on Friday and my confirmed order from Saturday was cancelled this morning. In both instances, credit cards were tapped.
And again, these were unique accounts where a platinum coin had not been purchased.
Thanks my 2 cents irregardless of anyone who thins there're going to snag at coin at 7:30. Both of my cancelled orders were placed during the early morning window within the past few days.
Yeah, They are just messing with forum members for fun at 7:30 AM Eastern standard time. Gives them a good chuckle, Particularly when they can come here and read about their escapades.

I wonder how many UPS Drivers are going to arbitrarily send them back on their own?
I've seen on our security cameras drivers from various carriers knock once quickly and just walk away at the door for just seconds.
I would be having a heart to heart talk with that driver and if things escalate so be it!
Fortunately, this was not an issue with this coin. Wevr sent video to the various companies before and they seem to take it pretty seriously.
Of course with most products it's just an inconvenience as it can be resent if it gets sent back. As you note where it really matters is extremely popular us mint issues that are otherwise sold out such that if they get sent back it's gone.
Watch your Credit Card Accounts very closely. A few years back I had trouble with the theft of a full 1 oz Gold Eagle I had returned for a Credit. I called a bunch of times and spoke to way too many illiogical CSR's that delighted in their strange statements. My Credit Card started getting hit down in the Memphis area not long after all that BS. I think it had to be related to the thieves in the returns center. From information online, Memphis has a lot of Ghetto Areas. You don't need to hear my opinion about employees from such an area.
I contacted the mint, and they had shipping numbers for both of my pending orders, including one on the 11th. Neither has
been marked as shipped in the system yet though. Looking promising though!

Did you ask them to look up both of them at the same time? I would think that would not be a wise thing. Plus did you use a different phone and a different voice when talking to the Mint. Wonder if they have voice recognition there yet.
I had an order placed 9/19 that I spoke with customer service about. They told me it shipped and gave me a tracking number then 20 minutes later or so there website updated as well.

I just used the online chat function, and did not ask about both at once. Signed in with each account to check.

Again, I'm mostly just playing with you.
I opened mine up to see what it looks like. It really is a beautiful coin. The fields are so deep and watery.

Probably orders that are being filled now are returns; so buyers are taking a chance in getting substandard material.
