I got three today that I think are 70's. I have 4 at pcgs currently, and I am hoping for one or two 70's from them if I am lucky. I have one package that went missing while at ups... yikes. Two were supposed to be held for pickup today for me, and they could only find one, and the other has not had a scan since yesterday morning.
That is tough, but it happens a lot more than people realize.
I have learned the hard way to look really carefully first and avoid the grading fees if possible. Even then I still tend to get quite a few 69's that have me wondering why even, after I see them a second time and with True View Pictures.
Probably better to crack it out and sell in OGP, but then again someone might want it slabbed 68 with OGP at a similar price. Stranger things have happened.

If that coin was "picked up" by someone on a theoretically possible inside job at UPS or with an outsider friend with the pick up slip, it is not the only one that was lost at UPS or delivered to really strange places on this thread.

Yes, there are several surface finish flaws (spotty white areas) by the bottom of the bust and a horizontal white smear by the date and a speck under the W.
Like I said before you submitted, 70's are not easy, or the price of them would be lower. Even then the price might drop if too many are graded vs actual demand.
Well crap. I had two being held at UPS yesterday for pickup, and they misplaced one, so I only got to pick one up. Today the second one was marked return to sender for some reason. The mint said they could not do anything about it, just issue a refund when it arrives, and UPS has not been much help yet. I am hoping they can stop the return, and re-deliver. Weird.
That confounded Mint! I ordered one of these to flip, but it's too nice a coin to sell. I've gotta keep the darned thing! I don't know if I will ever change my mind. Dang.
I hope that Dimeman never sees one of these in person - he might even change his mind about Moderns and/or bullion coins.

Reason I will not open one of my sealed boxes up. The temptation is too great to keep it. I will not hold on to these.

I'm waffling all over the place on this. I'd already made a commitment to myself that I wasn't going to go off on another collecting tangent. It's nuts.

I'm curious how you got so many, do you have a half dozen addresses Mr. Witten?

I'm wondering if some of that would have come off with a dip. I had one that looked similar (the fingerprint one), but it cleaned up pretty well after dipping.
i am unsure, not familiar with dipping. i havent even seen the coin. sent it straight to be graded. its on its way back from pcgs. I thought the reverse looked good, looking at the true view.
Numistacker unboxing video. Nice video with some history and video of the scanning of the original plaster for the Weinman designed AIA gold medal reverse.
I had a confirmed order from yesterday morning (Thursday), with expedited shipping and credit card tapped...and the order was cancelled minutes ago without explanation.

Did you get one already? Maybe the mint is making sure that any one that rec one cant get anther one so some that are buying are on there system that they rec one already so it will place the order but a day or two later it will cancel then go back up again. They try some are just better at getting around the HHL, if you can do it more power to you. Keep up the good work every one.

Interesting and nicely done.
Only cringe moment is when he said he was submitting it to NGC.

What is my best course of action?
Crack it and sell it on ebay. Ouch Really Sorry.
Better yet crack and send it back to the Mint tell them you want a refund
I think the last 20 coins I sent in to PCGS ended up
4 @ 70
15 @69
1 @ 68
So I know the feeling.
My buddy opened about 35 of these and said the quality on some was really bad. He estimated a couple in the 66/67 range

What is a fair asking price?

Look at completed sales on eBay and decide what is the right price for you and the buyer, given its' condition.

Uhhh! Trying to remain positive.
you want the price to drop so you can get one? don't fret, one sold just before that one that was in hand and they accepted best offer of $3k
Don't quote me on that.
Lol. Raw prices continue to climb. Over $2,300 now. Not enough 70's have sold to really have a trend yet, but most are over $3,000.
There is a David Hall signed one for sale...I bet that does well...
Don't quote me on that.
“There is a David Hall signed one for sale...I bet that does well...”

Thank you. I can see them now.
hopefully they have some replacements. Ups did a number on my package that finally arrived yesterday from day 1 order
Who were able to get one this morning?

Good news. Palladium up to $1,044 this morning. That is +$60 an ounce in three days. Platinum should start to pick up as well.

Only another $1000 to go for these to be worth it.
Reason I will not open one of my sealed boxes up. The temptation is too great to keep it. I will not hold on to these.

can you report back on the grading?
I got another friend to register with the mint and got another one today.
this is really like some kind of fun game got to find another friend tomorrow to do the same thing.
I tried again today and it was gone before I could complete it...so you must have stole the only one
Don't quote me on that.
Has anyone had a coin ship yet that was ordered this week?
Demonstrates the horsepower these Pd eagles have in the market .
