Here is one in the opposite direction. The bottom seems to have dropped out of the 1808 quarter eagle market since I bought this one. Not that the "bottom" makes it an economy priced coin, but this is the #2 coin among the early type pieces just behind the 1796 No Stars Quarter eagle.

An example in an MS-61 just sold at the latest Stacks-Bowers action for less than I paid for this one, which is graded AU-50. But the MS-61 did have a noticable mark on the obverse that is distracting.

PCGS Guide price is $3,000 ... I paid close to $4,300 with juice (about a 1.4x toning premium) ... but I didn't care.

Back in 2010 I believe I paid in the 2K area give or take a few dollars. I didn't care what it cost, I just had to own it.

I paid about double the PCGS coinfacts value, but I dont care. I plan to hold this coin for my heirs and hopefully by then it is 4-5x what I paid.

Being a four year old thread, I'm wondering how really buried some of these buyers are today. By the looks of the quality, I'm thinking most will do well in the end.
