In October 2017 I upgraded the Capped Bust Quarter in my Type Set, replacing my MS62 with this MS64 that appears below. While it is graded by PCGS and has a CAC, I paid $7,750, which some would say is too much. But as the OP says, I don't care. When I see a real nice coin with eye appeal that looks very special to me (despite the booger that just came out of Liberty's nose), I don't mind paying extra. I enjoy having it in my set.
Since PCGS now has their quarterly grading special, I just sent it in for $50 as a "Reconsideration", and lucky me -- they gave it a Plus!. So now it goes back to CAC with a $3 fee for automatically reapplying their sticker, since the cert number remained the same, and it did not get to the next higher whole number.
PCGS pop as a 64+ is only 1.
A day without fine wine and working on your coin collection is like a day without sunshine!!!

I probably have paid to much for most of my coins, but it's the hobby I love and always come back to after all the other hobbies I have kicked to the curb.
Well heck, it's been over 8 years, I suppose I could post another coin...
By the standards of when I bought this coin, I didn't overpay too badly. By today's standards I'm buried in it. Still, I just don't care, IMO it's a beautiful example of the coin.

Northern Sky just because the Capricorn Constellation...
Unique concept...$2300 which I will never can realized in the second market but I love it.
Fun coin. What does the "reverse" look like?
I hate the queen too. The young hot queen wasnt so bad. Now theres a 150 yr old bat on what is otherwise great coins.
Is your coin australian mint? I collected their constellation series of domed coins.
This one. I love it. It's 'too dark'. The Japanese market wouldn't like it. I spent a crapton (my standards) on it because I happened to have the 'fun money' at the time and the wonderful person who sold it to me had some lovely, lovely coins I wanted. This was one of them.
Logically I don't think it was 'worth it', but in hand it's just so pretty. It's in a PCGS slab obviously and out of curiosity I sent it to NGC. DNC which DNS (did not surprise). No one will ever pay what I paid.
I've seen a couple similarly toned ones in NGC slabs and was too chicken to price them out. It would depress me. That said, this is also a 'no border' version so is generally a bit more costly anyway so maybe the NGC ones (a 64 and 65 IIRC) would be 'less' and I could console myself that way. NGC does not do the variants nearly as well as PCGS.
Kind of glad it didn't cross (I didn't really need it for my set over there and I can put this in a custom set in this slab anyway if I wanted to...someday I will tweak my Japan Type set over there with the better coins but not until they get their formatting figured out, but I digress).
I really aught to make a video of this one. Here are some 'tilted' shots I nabbed. Absolutely zero editing done, just dropped the jpg right into the collage maker. The lighting is one of the GE daylight bulbs with camera settings to correlate. This is in pretty much in hand.

I wonder how J.J. Teaparty feels about some of those posts on Pg. 7 ?
They all sold to the same collector. Seems like we should be asking for kollectorking’s opinion and insight. JJ Teaparty was a market-maker in many coins graded less than ms63. But we all know for key or semi-key dates...any grade can set you back and make you think you paid too much and don’t care. JJT or any dealer on the show circuit or all the people selling coin on ebay..wherever they come from there are great coins everywhere. And what is great to one person may be junk or a waste of time to another. Lets all enjoy the hobby and not worry so much about keyboard ninjas and how numismatic experts in a forum feel. Don’t cry over spilled milk and live with no regrets.

I should put a pic of every coin in my collection then? Well, these two probably.

Wow!
That looks like a coin I used to own in an old fatty NGC as 64RB.
This was a bargain at 25% over price guide.

Chance favors the prepared mind.
Might be throwing that coin up on ebay just to have fun.
