Don't hold your breath on that one.
  • I would think there would be a date announcement at least 2 weeks prior to the sale date......
  • Does the law require these Proof Pucks be struck in 2010?

If it is true, then why the Mint is still holding back the release date?

Would it be also possible that the Mint did not stuck enough of those Pucks in 2010, and they are looking for ways to work around it?

    A. They are not Proofs.
    B. They were struck in 2010.
    C. The Mint is run by people insufficiently skilled in the marketing arts.

There probably was a typo on the COA and they had to be reprinted...

This could get pricey....silver market is open today and crankin' again....steaming towards $34 and a more expensive P Puck

Can somebody explain why the mintage is going to be so high on this, when they can't sell out the 33K bullion coins at half the price and that was at 7 per houshold.
  • CaptHenwayCaptHenway Posts: 32,815 ✭✭✭✭✭
If they are sold in sets of five, then "Clusterpucks" would be a perfectly legitimate term for the Mint to use.

How many pucks could a puckersucker suck if a puckersucker could suck pucks?

The only way to make sure this is a "fair Distribution" is this..... It has to be by email only and it has to be a lottery. I ticket per household for a set of 5. Tickets are free, they will be e tickets and will go only to those registered on the Mints website or on their mailing list. Sign up and then they will draw 27,000 names electronically at random March 31st 2011, and that's who gets them....

Question ...why would anyone, of moderate intelligence, purchase the burnished version @ 35-40% over spot, when there is a possibility now of getting a PCGS PL or DMPL graded bullion version? What would you rather own...PCGS MS69 DMPL or a "P" PCGS MS69?

bullion puck prices have fallen to the $1550-$1650 range, and these "numismatic rarities" are not sold out yet!

I think they can sell all online without any frenzied lottery. Each issue may actually take a few days to sell out! Imagine that!

Or issue tickets to buy to people who have bought from the mint in the past
  • I just think they should let the AP's distribute them. Everything went so smoothly with the bullion variety......

Now that I think about it if I remember right both versions of the pucks were struck right around the same time....so in reality the AP's at least got SOME into the hands of collectors. The Mint is still pulling a Coins and Things and have released zero coins
