Chuck and I just returned from South America yesterday. He accompanied me on a mountaineering expedition to climb Aconcagua. in Argentina. At 22,841 ft, it is the highest peak in South America, so Chuck had ample opportunity to clear his head and think about his past. (i.e. hitting Olbermann's mother in the face with an errant throw to first base, HGH, domestic violence, etc, etc).

The only Knoblauch jock sniffers during the trip happened to be pack mules. The few people I met on the summit were mildly amused that I was snapping pics of some baseball card hero while trying to catch my breath. A few notes of interest. First, Chuck has vertigo. Doesn't do well with heights. Soiled himself a few times in fact. Second, Chuck's Spanish is sadly lacking. The ladies were not impressed, and I ended up eating Baby Goat instead of rib eye steak on account of his lackluster language skills. Third, Chuck gets very lonely away from civilization. While we mountaineers use body heat to stay alive while sleeping at high altitude, Chuck decided to sleep in the buff. Let's just say he's half the man he used to be.

As for the rest, here are the highlights of our adventure...

East Face if Aconcagua. Our approach was up the North Ridge.

Chuck was continually enamored by our pack mules. I don't think anyone has ever paid them this much attention...

This mule was particularly found of Chuck and got a little closer for an extra sniff...

For some reason, Chuck thought we were going on a ski vacation. Too bad it's summer in Argentina and the ski resorts are closed. Being from Texas, he assured me he had grown up skiing...

Chuck got a time out in the rim of our Land Rover until he could get ready for the climb and stop the b#tching and moaning...

Finally, we were off for our adventure (Also, Chuck soils himself for the first time)...

Chuck was about as handy with an ice axe as he was with the baseball. No way in hell was I going to rope up to him.

The summit was beautiful, but very high and VERY windy and cold. Just behind me is 9K of pure air. (Chuck soiling episode #2)

Once we pulled Chuck together and got him off the mountain, he was ready to go home and join his CU brethren. (He may have contracted Giardia on the way off the peak just FYI for the next lucky sole who shows him around). Chuck was a blubbering mess in the Santiago, Chile airport as we bid the mountains and mules a found farewell.

Goodbye, Chuck, from Argentina. We'll miss you bunches and bunches.

2) His record will be wiped clean, again assuming he stays out of trouble
3) While I cannot comment on what really happened, it got blown out of proportion due to his "celeb" status

If I remember correctly the purpose was to show what happens to a card mailed in a PWE. As much as it changed hands I think it held up pretty well.
