Not to interrupt Nick's rip, but I busted a box and got a bunch of nada (Uehara auto, Josh Johnson & McCann jerseys, 3 black minis). I'll sell it all for $25 dlvd to anybody looking to build a set.

Dear bunchobull,
i did get the card i will be sending it in for grading, I was dissapointed that the card wasnt a black border like the picture you used. On expensive cards like this im waiting till i get a grade back before leaving feedback. I think we should be fine as far as that goes ------------------------------------------------------------

He seems fine with the whole thing upon reply. Nothing to worry about until there's something to worry about. He was okay with it since there aren't any black borders.
On vacation in NC, but snagged a red auto Kazmir last night for $29. Not bad. Also got a Pedroia auto from a few packs the other day. Not too deep into it this year.
Wow, I'm not linking to my auctions as this honestly isn't spam, but I had no idea the market on older A&G had fallen so much.
I have master mini sets from both 2007 and 2008, and I'm going to be really lucky to get $200 apiece for them. It sucks to be in a place where I need to sell as opposed to picking the right spot to sell. I thought these sets might be decent investments when I put them together. I'm going to take a bath on these. Hope you all have better luck with the 2010.

Just curious, when you say master set, are you referring to base mini plus short print mini (1-350), but with none of the other insert minis? Probably most of the logical buyers of that set would have more spendable cash when there is no new Ginter hobby for them to bust.
By 2007 mini master set Greg probably means the mini set 1-350, the Snakes, the Flags, and the Emperors. At least that's what I call a mini master set.
Good luck with the sale Greg. I hope you get at least $250 for it.

This exactly.
Same with 2008 the base minis plus the other mini insert sets. Basically all minis except for the black borders, A&G backs, or minis from rip cards. I think most people call this the master mini set.

On another note- I wonder when is Topps planning to release print runs for A&G? There are several autos that only 1 or 2 have shown up on Ebay. Either the print run on the SPs is lower than 49 this year or sellers are holding on to certain cards until the print runs are published and keeping them off ebay for now. Pujols / Longoria / Halladay / Holliday / even Alex Gordon just aren't showing up as frequently as the short prints showed up last year IMO.
<< <i>2008 was a freaking nightmare for ginter. >>
This. And 2009 wasn't much better. I'm tepid on the product now too. Just lacks the oomph it once did. Remember the first couple years when it sold out quick? Local grocery store still has 2009 blasters, marked down to $14.99 (and even when they do a 30% off, they don't sell).
I wish Topps would take it hobby-only for a year or two. Cut the print run, cut the checklist, make every card potent (while still keeping some goofball minis and whatnot).
Nolan Ryan & Edgar Martinez are my favorite players...

I still really like this set alot, but I agree with everything you said. Less retail seems like a good idea. My biggest complaint is with the autos checklist. Why would Topps think that autos set builders would want to see the SAME autos in '10 that were there in '09? Superstars like Ryan Howard and Evan Longoria are fine year to year, but do I really need back to back years of Cameron Maybin, Juan Rivera, and Max Scherzer? NO.
Cameron and Max are in there because they are cheap.
I think what really killed it for me this year was the total disregard for any kind of legit pack odds. I opened a case with no silks, no bazooka backs and no decent autographs. It also lacked a rip card. To a long time Ginter collector that is just brutal. Compound that with 6 hit box breaks above and that really sours my stomach. It is obvious that not all cases were alike and it seemed like early boxes were just loaded with crap. Most of the Straburgs looked like they came from Texas. Topps has almost no say in how these cards are produced and packed, I would really doubt if they even knew what was in the product. Delaying the print runs saves them from having to answer more questions like where are some of these cards. For the first time in 5 years I have thought about not doing the set. I also sense the lack of effort has chased away some collectors here, this time last year and the year before the trading frenzy was massive. Maybe we just need to accept that this set and heritage suck now. I would almost rather bust one box of 06 Ginter for the same prices as 3 boxes of 2010. Remember when you could open a box and pull two autographs, one being a Hall of Famer?

Plus the fact that some of us have been waiting for retail, and the only place I've heard of retail being found is in North Carolina. I checked some of the Plano (Dallas) area Walmarts and Targets yesterday and they still don't have it. Hobby came out what, two weeks ago. My desire to buy retail is slowly waning. I may end up just getting two or three blasters this year.

301-350. I'm guessing the Brees relic is one of the rarer ones? I haven't tracked the relics at all. >>
I am a big Drew Brees fan so I am not sure if it is a harder to find relic, they seem to be going for $10 to $15 on eBay. If anyone is interested in any of the cards I posted let me know. I don't really care too much for this set and I am especially looking for Magic the Gathering cards if anyone has some for trade or sale.
Happen to go to Walmart today when the shelves were being stocked. Dude had 10 "value" packs of A&G. Bought 'em all and got carp except for a black mini of Ubaldo Jimenez and a Nelson Cruz jersey card.
