Don't forget that most of these have been discovered by PCGS members and if no more get found in the remainder coming out we still have a pretty low number we are working with.

Well I can account for the first 3 with Billy Crawford. If there are less than the minn. extra trees then maybe we might have something.

Nope - I don't recall the die clash having any DDR

    Just opened 5 boxes all dated 4-27. Three #9883 boxes & two #9774. 250 coins & 92 doubled dies - 36% (chins not included.)

    Wexler numbers

    7 DDO1

    4 DDR1
    32 DDR2
    49 DDR3
    49 Chin Whiskers
  • Hate to say this, but the word saturation is correct. There are way to many of theses errors out there. In no time u will be able to pick these up for less than a dime.

  • << <i>Hate to say this, but the word saturation is correct. There are way to many of theses errors out there. In no time u will be able to pick these up for less than a dime. >>

Hmmmmmm........I disagree completely. The term 'way too many' is out of context to the entire mintage of this coin, IMO.

BTW, what is the entire P mintage?image And, would you say there are 5,000 found.....or 10,000......or 50,000? Once the grading begins, the whole picture will shift once again.
  • ..and I am feeling like a dork. I've opened 17 boxes and found WDDR 001's, 002's, 003's and some interesting die cracks but nothing else. No DDO's 004-0999"s

    Nothing...

    or....

do ya think I'm having issues with actually seeing them....this means I have to go back over, oh, 700 or so coins again....guess I need a Dino Lite
  • one more thing..

    << <i>And, would you say there are 5,000 found.....or 10,000......or 50,000? >>

I would love there to be only 50k divided among the different varietiesimage
  • pitbosspitboss Posts: 8,643 ✭✭✭

I agree completely and I still feel that we(PCGS members) are finding the bulk of them because we are the only one that knew about them.

Who's finding the wddr-006? (extra long 6th finger) They seem a bit scarcer -- I've only found a few in 4/23 boxes. Anyone else?

They are becoming my favorite quarry since that long finger is neat and challenging to find.

You should have a good opportunity in the 9 boxes you just bought off of me. I wish you luck.

I brought out the microscope (AmScope), and went through the 2 rolls I searched by loup. I set aside nothing new.

    From now 3 rolls opened, I have about 13 DDR-004 and 5 DDR-005.

I did see one I would call skinny thumb (but looks fully stuck... can see thumb nail).

I felt on many the shape/height of the hand at the juncture of the thumb is not consistent.... there may be many very minor varieities going on also.

    On to another roll!

Anyone know which one this is with the doubled book binder?

Could be machine doubling like the extra pages Lee sent to Billy Crawford. You can see Lee's on the 4th supplement now. That 4th supplement also has info on the obv die clashes too.
P.S.- check out who sent in the die clash coin.image

  • I thought I would celebrate Father's Day and the 1st day of summer by building my supply of DDR's

I opened 3 rolls (4/21, 4/28 x2) and found NONE? Weird how "common" these are

I did find this in the 4/21 roll....since I'm away from my photo setup image was taken outside (cloudy, misty, windy, 61 degree 1st day of "summer") hand held with my Canon point and shoot:

edited to add: very nice coin otherwise with no major hits . Might be worth getting in a slab

  • Just an update but looks like Anacas has gotten on the tight side also. Here is the results from 1 of my sets of 5 coins I sent them. The last coin is a CDDR-001/Struck thru grease obv. I might be proud of the DDR-001 that made 67. The first 2 coins are CDDR-001 while the second 2 coins are the CDDR-002 and the last is a CDDR-001 with the struck thru. Sorry no pics yet.

I found this today. Usually on machine doubled coins, it only shows in certain areas on the coin, here, it appears to go all over the coin. Is it something other than machine doubling?

Out of all my boxes I only have 1 box dated 4/30. Wish me luck. I would also like to thank Lee for the auction I won with both the ddr-006 and the ddr-009 in it I won for only $22.50 as a 4 coin lot.

  • Opened my first 4/30 dud box yesterday. Four previous boxes have been the Motherload.......but this one only had a few 004's (but very few with spots)

does anyone have good closeup pictures of the die markers for the WDDR-009 penny? Has anyone here found one? Is the extra nub of a finger obvious?

No pics, but here's the full die marker description:

    2009 1c FY WDDR-009

Description: A small partial extra finger can be seen just under the bottom of the book.

Die Markers: Die gouges can be found above the 2nd zero and the 9 in the date. A die gouge can be found between the 9 and the rim. A die crack arcs northward from the upper left B of LIBERTY while another runs south from the lower left B. A die gouge can be found below the R of PLURIBUS. Small die gouges can be found between the upper U and S of PLURIBUS as well as to the left and right of the upper M in UNUM. Die chips can be found at the top and right edges of the book.

I see the early date boxes are starting to disappear from Ebay.

Who knows how many are left untouched. Ultimately there may be fewer unopened LP2s than LP1s.

    Thoughts?

I still have not found any "Bootstrap" die cracks -- anyone got a lead on box dates on these?

Also -- there has been no word on DD's coming from anything past 5/5 boxes...yet...right?

Haven't seen any bootstraps in my search in the boxes, I've checked almost every date from 4/13-5/06.

Haven't tried any of the newer boxes, but with 31 DDRs now, the may be coming from the recent dates.

I've seen some of the newer DDRs on Ebay and asked the seller, some of them are coming from bank rolls.

Thanks Papl, I had not heard any ddr's coming from regular rolls yet -- perhaps the Bootstraps are coming from those instead of LP2's...?

There has been no confirmed finding's in any of the bank roll's as of yet. At this point if someone claimed they found some in bank rolls, I would have to say," no". I have looked at about 40 rolls of "bank rolls" and seen nothing that even resembles one.

I have also not heard of anything beyond 5/5 being found.
