Here is an interesting alternative which may be related to the extra finger. I have seen
a lot of the extra fingers in 4/21.

Does anyone know the true value of each of these or is there still a lot of hype???

I just opened a box of 4/28 after being almost shut out today.

    Received 13-001's in that box.

I have 44 more box's sitting on top of my computer desk right now which I have listed on Ebay. . I don't know if I should pull my listing's and open a few or not. You never know which box holds the key coins. Maybe I will just wait until tomorrow as I have a bunch more coming.

4/29. Opened 1 roll and found 13 DDR-001 and 8 DDR-002. All the coins are bright with no spoting.

Anyone know the values of an individual unit cent with each type of error? Thanks.

I looked on ebay and they are going for from abour $5 to $30 a piece. DDR-002 seems to be doing better than DDR-001. There are a few DDR-003 close to $30.
  • I went through 3 boxes dated 4/16 and other than something that look like burn marks and some die chips on the finger tips of where the DDR might be, nada.

  • << <i>I have 5 boxes of 4/13 and haven't searched them. Any luck with this date? >>

BTW that date on the box seems to get the most money on ebay I have noticed, just the other night I saw one sold for $41.00.

Opened a couple rolls from my 4/15 boxes and found five DDR-001 and four DDR-002. Think I may sell a couple and cover my original cost then sit on the rest for a while. There does seem to be quite a few showing up but I guess if they only come out of these mint boxes they may end up being quite rare.

Would it be beneficial to grade these or sell them raw???

    Thank Much!

I would advise waiting to see if they are going to be recognized by the tpg companies which I feel they will.

    I haven't opened my 4/16s.
I hope I'm not clogging up the thread but here is what I've learned about that date from following it. (thx LVT!)

mheffner2 1st post have 4 boxes dated 4/16 I'm thinking about busting into.

then 2nd post I went through 3 boxes dated 4/16 and other than something that look like burn marks and some die chips on the finger tips of where the DDR might be, nada.

So far I can report my 5 boxes stack neatly on the shelf. I move the light around a little bit so I can enjoy them from different angles.image

image that's one way to enjoy your purchase. Like most of the dates the 4/16 boxes are a crap shoot, you may wind up with nothing or maybe something. Who knows you find one like Lee with the doubled book. From the way things are going any one of these boxes can have another major DDR or DDO that has yet to be found. Some may think another find might push these out the door like the extra tree's but what if you find a full doubled reverse or obverse, it may be out there and you wont know til you look. Think about it this way, did you buy these to flip or open and enjoy the new cent reverse or just hold onto a plain jane run of the mill ordinary mint white box?

  • I have 4 more 4/16s, and I'll open each of them. That's until my eyes can't take it anymore - this guy needs a scope! I wonder where orders placed in the past week, due for mid-June shipping, will date.

I opened one box of 4/16 and 4/21

    And found nada. No DDR's

I did find a nasty Diecrack? not sure what to call it.

It runs from the edge of the E in States down to around Abe's nose, just missing his head.

The raised metal is about as high as the rim and has a jagged edge to it. The coin surface is distorted at the end of the crack, like an earthquake split the ground.

I did a scan of it but not very clear i will try to post the pics later.

    Anyone else find this?

I have another 4/30 box that arrived yesterday and some 4/27 (3) I will open later.

All of my DDRs have a very significant die crack across the mallet. There are also noticeable die cracks and material on the shoulders and elbows.

I broke down and opened a box from 4/14 and found 1 off center strike but that was it no DDR's

Can we see the off-center strike? That is a cool find ~
  • thanks for the heads up on this one, i opened 10 boxes dated 4-28-09 time 10:55,10:42. i opened 8 p rolls and picked out 61 ddr-001, no extra fingers. also got 34 that have a die crack on the reverse at the end of the log at the 3:00 area. the other 2 rolls i did'nt open because the ends show a ddr-001. thanks
  • I guess we got lucky with the 4/28/09 boxes

Here are the pics of the Die crack?

Maybe someone could tell what this is or caused it?

These pics are from my scanner and of course are poor.

I will be more specific later, but I opened 2 boxes today while at the hospital with my son whom just had surgery. The first box was dated 4/24..8:46 and I found not a single DDR. The 2nd box proved much more valuable. It was dated 4/29...12:58 and 35 of the 50 pennies contained some form of the variety(although until I get a chance to look under the magnifying glass I don't know how many of each variety I have) Given that i purchased them on Ebay for a minimal investment I am very pleased with the results!

I opened all 5 of my 4/29 P rolls but 1. I found about 40 DDR-001. and about 20 DDR-002. The roll I kept together has a perfect DDR-002 on the end. I just placed the roll on ebay.

I saw an end roll DDR-001 go for $280 earlier today. We will see how I do with my DDR-002.

I just did an official count of my 4 opened rolls dated 4/29. I found 49 DDR-001 and 29 DDR-002. I found about 5 others that I think they are calling DDR-003.

My other roll has a DDR-002 on the end.

    Here it is:

I just opened the4/30 box that I just received and
    9 CDDR-001
    8 CDDR-002
    7 CDDR-003
11 with the die clash on obverse

In the 4/27 box I found
    5 CDDR-001
    1 CDDR-002
    10CDDR-003
13 with the dia clash on obverse

Much better than yesterday's 4/16 and 4/21 boxes.

From what has been listed on DDR finds, looks like WDDR-001 & WDDR-002 are the most. What iv'e seen so far from the listings, looks like the WDDR-004 are not being reported that much.
    I opened 1-roll dated 4-20-09,found 7-WDDR-004,nothing else.

This is one I found in a few rolls. I had to start adding my name to my pictures because people (forum members???) were using then in eBay auctions..

I tallied up my finds from the 2nd roll from 4/29 and I found 13 DDR-001, 12 DDR-002, and roughly 4 that i believe too be DDR-003? I am pretty pleased with the findings.
