Group A is what you want.
You get 10 rookies per group.
Group A gets you the Crosby & Ovechkin.
Group B is pretty decent. Vanek, Getzlaf, Lundqvist and Perry.

Send them in. They might just give you something.
    You have nothing to lose.

Even though they are not huge $ cards it makes me sick. Over the past 6 months I have pulled 6 remeption cards and 5 of them have been expired. This one hurts because they were the cards I was looking for. Hopefully UD can throw me a bone on this one.

I always look to see the results of your rips. If the wire shelving houses your unopened boxes, where does all the opened product end up?

Were hoping his extra Dale Murphy's do not end up in his closet, were hoping they find another home. BTW, the Aikman rookies, two of them, fall within the centering criteria for PSA 10s. Good luck on the 84 OPC.

Can't go wrong with bust 80's OPC

My wife is out with her friends tonight image. I will be opening a box of 87 Fleer baseball and either a box of 05 Bee Hive or 05 UD series 2 Hockey. I will start ripping at 8:00 central. Which box of hockey should I open?
    image
  • MphilkingMphilking Posts: 1,570 ✭✭✭
05 Upper Deck is my vote.
  • jswietonjswieton Posts: 2,870 ✭✭✭
Will start with the 87 Fleer and will then do the hockey. I will open half the box and then scan. Please vote on what hockey box you want to see.

Just get him to tilt his head to the left and it should fix the centering

Beehive! I've never seen it, and it looks cooler!
  • Again I have lost interest with the appearance of hockey.
  • jswietonjswieton Posts: 2,870 ✭✭✭
I just got a call from my wife and she is on her way home image . I will have to rip the Hockey once she goes to bed. I think I will send Bill some hockey packs and pull him over to the dark side. The Bo and Moyer are nice looking cards and might get a 9 if the Bo falls in the 60/40 rule.

Thanks for doing the rips. I love junk wax, so it's great to see it opened.

In other news, I still heart 1987 Fleer.

The UD hockey was a fun box to open. No Ovechkin but it pulled some nice inserts.

WTF!! This is not my week. I pulled a well centered Nicklaus from a pack of 82 Donruss golf. The gum looks like it is melted to the card. Is there any way to save this?

Try putting the card in the freezer for an hour or so and see if the gum comes off easier. Still may be stains on the card.

Liquidating my collection for the 3rd and final time. Time for others to enjoy what I have enjoyed over the last several decades. Money could be put to better use.
  • I would send it to PSA like that and see what happens. There should be some type of grade for cards like that since you cannot get more authentic than that.
  • gameusedhoopgameusedhoop Posts: 3,634 ✭✭✭✭
Doug is correct. Try the freezer. One of 3 things will happen:
    1. Gum will break off cleanly, just gently drop it gum side down on the desk from a few inches, leaving in the soft sleeve
    2. gum will come off, but take some of the finish and picture off of the card
    3. gum may not completly come off, and/or leave a stain
Most likely 1 or 2 in this case, I've seen much more melting. Your's doesn't look too bad, probably 50-50 odds. Good Luck!

<< <i>I think I might cry. I have opened the parhurst and power play packs so far. I think I might cry. I pulled two rookie redemption cards out of the pow play. I don't know what they included but I am pretty sure they would have included both the crosby and ovechkin by what it reads. They both expired in 09-08 image. WTF this is why I hate ripping modern crap. MY rips are done for right now. Does anyone know what these redemptions would have included?

    image >>

I spoke to UD today and they pretty much told me to get "F"ed with these redemptions. They said if they are expired they will not honor them even if they are expired by 1 day.
  • daddymcdaddymc Posts: 3,080 ✭✭✭
That sucks about the redemptions, but kind of what I expected out of them.

How did the freezer trick work out for you?
Currently working on: Kurt Warner PSA 9 or 10

  • Yeah, the redemptions suck, Topps did the same thing to me, I sent my redemptions in and because they didn't get to them in time, they rejected them. Maybe Paninni will get it right, even though they are a foreign company.

Opened a box of 94 SP basketball. The Jordan is flawless and is a low pop of 4 in a psa 10. The Kid has a shot at a shot at a 10 but more then likely a 9.

I am hoping that Jordan pays for my next sub. It should come back a psa 10. The card is flawless. It is probably the best looking card in the entire box. Do you know how much that card sells for in a PSA 10? I have tried doing a back search on ebay and there are no psa 10's listed. Please let me know if there are any other cards you are interested in.
  • fujfuj Posts: 559 ✭✭✭
If that Jordan were to grade out a 10, I'd guess that you could get somewhere between $50 and $100 for the card. The upper end will depend on if the #1 Jordan registry collector has that card or not. He will outbid everyone for PSA 10s that he does not have.

    Brian,
Are you just looking for a raw example? I've got several but none would grade higher than an 8. If that fits your needs, let me know and I'll drop one in the mail for you.

Well I got out of work early today so I figured that I should atleast enjoy the rest of the afternoon and rip a box. I will be ripping a box of 05 UD MVP Hockey. I am trying to put a non auto RC set together of Sidney Crosby and Alex Ovechkin.

The Sid has a good shot at a psa 10. All of the specs you see in the scan are either on the penny sleeve or on the cs1.

  • SWEET nice box agreat pull on Sid the kid. How much do those go for?

PSA 10's go for about $100 and 9's are $50-$75 usually. You can find nice raw ones for $30 -$40.
  • jswietonjswieton Posts: 2,870 ✭✭✭
I got this in the mail today. This what the 2005 Power Play redemption card that I pulled last week would have been if it wasn't expired.

I have picked up some wax over the past few weeks. I opened the 05 BeeHive and the 05 Parkhurst. I really didn't pull anything that exciting out of either. I did get a Crosby Jumbo that I wanted for my set but I had already bought one off of eBay a couple weeks ago.

Wasn't Brian (neenish) the guy that put up $175 for you to be in a group rip once when you were kinda broke?
  • jswietonjswieton Posts: 2,870 ✭✭✭
Yes Brian was the generous person who paid for a box of SP golf for me. I would not have a problem giving him the card but another person had already made me an offer for it which I had already excepted once it was graded. I have told brian that he is more then welcome to any of my cards that I pull from my rips. He just happened to request the 1 card I can not give him. I will be happy to give him any other card from my posts.

I want to get this straight: You pulled card and somebody says "Hey I'll give you $x for that if it pulls a 10" and you think you're obligated to hold the card for that person?
