    I really like all of the cards shown so far this weekend, especially that Ozzie Smith OPC rookie. It's a real bear to find one centered - good job gator! As usual, the cards that Brett and julen show off are first rate!

    These probably won't be raw for long, as I'm trying to get the energy to do another sub. I've had several 8.5's out of this group, but can't seem to pull a 9. Maybe on the next sub. Either way, these have been some beautiful 56's. Chiti got cut off in the scan, but may be the best of these 6.

    Brett - Do they all share a rookie card with another player? Meaning their rookie card is a multi-player card, and not a solo photo.

    Nick, I can't say for sure that they all share a rookie card with another player or players, but they might. I hope that's not the case because that's not my mystery theme. It could just be a coincidence. I'll give you a hint, though. You are on the right track with your multi-player card theory. Just dig a little deeper.

    Those 3 are a good clue to the answer. Look a little deeper, think just a bit harder and you'll get it. I did a little checking just now. I think Rudy May's rookie card is his 1970 #203, on which he stands alone. If that's accurate, then my mystery theme remains intact.

    IN 1971 all the cards, shown from 1974, were horizontal(long shots).

    We have a winner! Michael, you are correct. I tried to include all the players who appeared on solo horizontals in 1971 and were also part of the 1974 set, but I forgot about Jim Fregosi. Most of the cards scanned were from 3-player rookie cards. Those familiar with the 1971 set know that not all of the "Rookie Stars" cards were horizontal. The majority were 2-player cards in the standard portrait format. Through the recent upgrading that I've done I have developed a renewed admiration for the '71 set. It really is a beauty.

    Just got back from the show in Cincy, my son got the Votto card autographed, the others were my bounty. Joey was a very nice guy and posed for a pic with my son.

    Nice stuff pete, pretty decent selection of 50's stuff from 4-5 dealers. I couldn't dig too long I had my 7 yr. old son with me. I'll say it again Joey Votto was first class. Prices were pretty good for a show and they were willing to deal a bit. I met a dealer with some other stuff I liked and got his info. My kid is still talking about meeting Votto, that was worth the 280 miles round trip alone.
