No purchases for me this week, so I'll start off today's round of raw cards with some of my 1955 Topps.
I was curious as to why the Harry Agganis card carried such a high book value. I had never heard of him, so I did a little research and came up with this:
Too easy! Yes, each card features a player who would later manage in the big leagues. The only one who didn't is Roric Harrison on the O's rookie card, although both Baylor and Oates did manage to manage.
Collecting Clemente master (#6) and basic PSA registry sets, Hank Aaron master and basic sets, Mantle oddball issues, 1970's mega decade HOFs, 1967 Topps pin ups, and high grade Topps Clemente and Aaron. Numerous transactions with over 100 board members.
got to go to a local mall show and picked up some 70 topps and a 55 topps for my sets

I found these in a box of stuff I bought back in the 80's. I bought the 72 Rose and 74 Robinson auto'd cards from a dealer so I don't know if they are good or not.

That Unitas is absolutely beautiful! I owned one from about 1987 up to a few years ago. I bought it at a local YMCA show for $25.00. It was before football cards became popular and it was about a PSA 5 to 5.5. I sold it on Ebay for around $180.00 and bought a 1977 Topps Baseball set and some 70's PSA graded cards. I miss having it in my collection.

Wow, what a sad story! I'm surprised that someone hasn't made it into a screenplay (like the movie about Ernie Davis that will be coming out soon).

j, I don't know about pre-1970, but the Cubs used the heads-only format in 1971, 72, 74, and 76-81.
