Thanks for the link, But that is freaking rediculous for an Eddie Matthews Auto. Please. His auto baseball is $40. Waste of money at the $1,000 mark. Did you see the Spahn? It got to $400+ before it disappeared. Anyway now Im gonna have to buy some Target retail. Is it true that the 205's are 1:4 packs???That would be nice. Would get about 8 a box. None are really selling on ebay it seems though. Kind of high priced.

I have started to put my set in binders today since it looks like it has officially been determined that it is 655 cards. Should take 73 sheets to do it. I'm not counting the Smoltz or Johan super SPs.

How is everyone lining up their sets in pages with reference to the green backs/black backs? I think im gonna go with black backs inserted next to their green counterpart. For example, 1, 2gr, 2bl, 3gr, 3bl, 4, 5gr, 5bl, etc...

Nice, second auto out of the first half of my first LRCARDS case. Hope that ratio holds up for the last case and a half. I'm giving away one of the autos that I pulled. Check out the giveaways link below if you're interested in a shot at this auto. Here is the most recent inkster:

    oh man nice auto!!

I have always put larger variation sets in the back of the binder, but next to them is cool. I always hated the 10 card sets that topps
does and they are awkard in binders. 73 sheets huh..good to know!

will 655 cards fit in a regular Ultra Pro binder or will there have to be 2 volumes?

  • Options

As an example, a 1972 Topps baseball set is 787 cards and it fits nicely in 88 pages (front side only) and a 3" D ring binder.

my 73 set almost looks like it takes up more room than last year's Heritage in a binder

Zep - Your 1973 set is a good comparison to this year's heritage as far as number of cards since the 1973 set has 660, but this year's 655 card heritage set will look a lot thicker in the binder because of the thicker card stock.

Speaking of heritage's thicker card stock, for all the guys that store their cards or extras in boxes, something i found interesting/helpful with heritage is that it only fills card boxes at a 70% rate. For example, the 2007 base set of 384 cards fits just about perfect in a 550 count box.

Kurt, still no actual ink, but I did get an Aramis Ramirez redemption. I'm still evening things out after getting a Ryan Howard auto last year, and a Santana auto plus the Wright wood mini in last year's A&G...

I'm using one 3" D-Ring black binder. I've used that for the last four years of Heritage. Somehow the 2003 set fit into a 2" binder.

    Guys.

Although I no longer collect baseball cards, I just love this thread. And I have to say that I wish to god that Topps put out a decent Heritage set. I absolutely LOVE the autographed cards from the set - especially from the common/semi-star players who were in the original 1959 Topps set. It blows me away.

I have recently begun a signed 1957 Topps football set, and just love the look of autographed vintage (including Heritage) cards. Is anyone trying to collect all of the autographed cards from the set?

After my five boxes, I'm a little disappointed in the collation (sp?)

There are some inserts (NF's, BF's) that I've got three of, yet I'm 51 BASE cards short of the set!! Yuk!!

I'm going to need a lot of help, through trades, eBay, and more boxes.

I'm also short 41 black backs, but have 45 doubles. Terrible.

I'll post a trade list later, my chromes and game used are for trade.

Well, I've got black refractors of Penny, Kemp & Ethier so far, so I might go for master player sets of all five Dodgers (Kent & Martin are the others).

I think I might do the relics, too. Haven't quite decided.

Yeah, it's probably not something I'm going to go nuts over, but I'd pick them up in trades/buys if it worked out right. I managed two black refractors - Kinsler and IRod.

Kind of an off-the-wall comment, but as I finished putting my partially completed set in a binder tonight, I realized the all-star cards at the back of the set have NL card with red borders and AL cards with blue borders. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Or was this done the same way as the 59 set? Usually red is associated with the AL, and blue or green is associated with the NL.

I completed the seat relic set, and probably have most or all of the jersey/bat set.
The autos and refractors don't hold much interest for me though, and I'll probably just list them.
I do have a full panel set, that was top of my list.
With the regular set, chromes, variations, sp's, relics, seats, panels, etc it has taken a 3.5" binder and a 2.5"- pretty much the same as '05 with the back variations.

For those of you who didn't have enough to do, here are links to most of the big past heritage release discussions! Big thanks to

    The Official 2008 Heritage Post

As you can see the first few years were sparse as far as collectors. 2005 was the first year for an all out blow out of traders. If we based
it on previous posts, the official 2009 heritage post will be due up any day now and will contain more than 100 posts by next month
and by Feb of 2009 will have more than 700 posts and will most likely break the 2,000 post mark.

I think a certain post on the 01 list rings the loudest....talking about fickle modern day card collectors and the longevity of heritage..."only

Thanks for the links, Kevin. The 2005 Heritage thread was when I passed from lurker to contributing member here on CU. Lots of good memories there. A few names in that thread that I don't see much of anymore. Anyone seen John Basilone or Dan (softparade)?

Talked to Basilone tonite, he's buried in work. Haven't spoken with Dan (Softparade) in about a month but I believe he is in the process of moving and I think just had a baby. Both seemed to be doing well but neither had plans to make a big push on Heritage this year, at least when I spoke to them about it.

Good plan Travis, when you look up and see the mountain of empty boxes, wrappers, and gum and no more boxes it just kind of leaves you with an empty feeling inside.....makes you want to order another case. image

Has anybody come across a team card retail variation. Since there are no cut autos in retail and, in prior years, the checklists varied between retail and hobby, I was wondering if anybody has come across a variation (retail - no cut autos listed or Target/Walmart specific that show the T205s or Perez subsets)? I have opened a few boxes and have not seen any differences. However, I have not come across a retail version of the last team card.

    Hi,
I'm Scott and have gotten hooked on Heritage the last few years. I love the cards.

This is the first year that i broke down and bought a case of Heritage. I pulled 2 autos
from my case, Bob Blaylock & Vito Valentinetti, nothing much else that was too great.

I have a question that hopefully someone can answer. One or two of my boxes had
cards that were damaged. I'm not sure what happened. Does anybody know what i have to
do to get Topps to replace these. I have 125 to send back and would prefer to just send 1 package.

    Thanks,
    Scott
