Not a chance....for many reasons....first, I love my work. second, I like collecting. I imagine it's just like cooking....I really enjoy cooking nice meals, especially if I'm hosting a party...but to do it for a living doesnt sound like much fun.

Very much so Back in February when Andy posted a similar thread, something like "Would you work as a full-time numismatist for a dealer?" and John Maben posted to the thread that he was looking for someone... just so happened that I live close enough to the office, and fit all his requirements... so, now I find myself working at a job that I enjoy, making a good bit of money to feed my collecting addiction, on top of getting to see some cool coins at work
Hmmm. Work a few hours a day, make millions a year, have customers "refreshing" your website all day long like Pavlov's dogs and then vying for position when newps come out...sounds a lot better than my job.

I have already moved into numismatics full time and for less than I was earning in the corporate rat-race...and anyone who has work for me to do in web development or other numismatic ventures that does not require that I move from my current home in Southwest Missouri can feel free to contact me.

Actually im a 9 year veteran of the Chicago fire department. So is this what your Saturday night consists of? Chasing me from thread to thread trying to embarrass me?
I'm in... in another year or so... and would have moved to Austin. The only downside is... they'd better have alot of Jeffersons for me to grade, because that's all I look at.

Yes...for the right job in the right location.
somehow i doubt i'd make as much money though.
and i can pay for my own health insurance. I don't get "benefits" as it is now as i am a contractor.
60 years into this hobby and I'm still working on my Lincoln set!
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Similarly, I wouldn’t want to become a gynecologist, either.
<< <i>Would you leave your day job for a career in numismatics? >>
Only if it involves working weekends, lots of time away from home, and plenty of time standing in line at airports.
If I had the skills, what's not to love about a job like that.
As long as I could make no less, I'd do it.

Though, I may take a side job doing Golf Tee repair.
However, doing a quick search, there are Janvier reducing lathes for sale, and no shortage of high tonnage coining presses.
Start your own mint....Dan Carr did it!
I enjoy it as a hobby too much.
If it was a job I think that would take the fun out of it.
I hope to retire in six years. Ask the question again at that time.
