I did some fast and furious trading with a local card shop owner here and the result of my trades was to give up 60 regular minis, 9 flags and in return I got an Emperor I needed and 8 no numbers (including Griffey ). I had thoughts about doing another mini set, but I do like having a reserve of Bazookas and no numbers. Also, I just got a lot of 79 A&G backs for $18 off of EBay. Don't know what they are, but for about .20 per, I'll take em. Yes, Nick, I will keep you in mind when I receive them. Not a bad week with the Ali auto (although your Cashman is very nice, Kevin), the Edmonds original sketch, a bunch of no numbers and a slew of A&G backs. To top it all off, a buddy of mine called me to say he purchased a lot of 3,000 to 4,000 cards from a guy who buys the contents of abandoned storage units and he said it was filled with about 800 '67's, 1,000 70's, 1000 71's (about 25 of which he said were NM) and 1,000 '74's. He's going to swap out the ones he needs and send me the rest to see what I need (I need a lot of that). All of this for $125.
Is retail buying over or are they still shipping boxes to stores? I haven't seen anything in a couple of weeks but a few leftover retail packs at Target.

I know this has probably been asked but I just bought my first boxes of A&G and I have two questions. First what does everyone store the mini cards in and the mini flag cards?? is there a plastic sheet made for these or one that can easily adapt for them. Second what do they mean by A&G back on some cards?? is this only for the mini's?? thanks al.
Ultra Pro makes a toploader and penny sleeve for these cards. do an ebay search on ultra-pro tobacco toploader. They come 10 to a pack (10 sleeves + 10 top loaders) for around $1. I recently received some in a trade and they are sweet.
Also ultra-pro makes 15 pocket sheets (3 rows of 5 cards) that are beautiful and can be found on the bay easily - around $15 per 100 sheets.

Is it just me or is there are thrill in every pack when you turn over those minis to see which variation you got? The usual product is garbage after you hit the money pack(s), but there is possible big bucks in every card! Mantle bazooka....200 bucks...Griffey, Jeter Arod. I love it!

In the original Allen & Ginter card sets, they had a "Smokers of the world" set (N33 I believe) and his pic was listed as "Old Planter" or "Virginia Planter". Since A&G was a Virginia company, it was their logo.

this may sound like a silly question but if I were to grade some of these, what would they be graded as?? would the baseball players be graded under baseball, the flags under non sport, Brooklyn Bridge non sport....am I making sense???

The cab cards in reg 8x10 sheets look kind of lame and uneven in them

In the original Allen & Ginter card sets, they had a "Smokers of the world" set (N33 I believe) and his pic was listed as "Old Planter" or "Virginia Planter". Since A&G was a Virginia company, it was their logo.
