A little bit further into the 1st box.....An Andy Marte Bazooka back 7/25, and a Guerrero bat to round out the box.

2nd box has yielded a Tommie Smith relic... and a Konerko bat. As the famous P. Pig said...that's all folks!

OK, due to my mis-calculations, here's my revised needs. Sounds like others have done this as well. Thinking they were "that" or "this" close to finishing, only to go back and actually check the binders to find out that's not the case. I suppose with trades flying all around, it's bound to happen. Come to think of it, I probably traded the cards I still need by putting them in the trade pile before the binder. Oh well.

    Regular Back minis: 43, 49 & 318

Flags: Puerto Rico, Russia & Thailand

    Emperors: JC

    ARods: 251, 256, 258, 262, 263, 273

By the way, did everybody settle on what the master set is? I heard talk about the snakes and flags & Emperors being part of it. Wouldn't that assume the regular minis (since the flags, emperors and snakes are counted) are part of it?

Finally, opened 10 random packs from the hobby store and pulled another Rolen relic. Happy (uh, as happy as one can be about a relic other than Mr. Lee) to report it was a bat rather than a jersey. I know his jersey is becoming scarce, what with everybody having 2 or 3 pieces each.

I hear you, I've sorted piles of cards only to find stuff on my trade list show up back in the unsorted pile.

It's generally accepted as reg base set + sketch cards, plus a reg mini set (or maybe A&G), plus flags, plus emperors, plus snakes. That would be my take on a "master" set as well.

If I added anything to that, the first thing would be the extended mini's. After that, probably the N43's, National Pride, and RIP cards. You could also add black borders, no numbers and bazooka's in there somewhere. Then the auto's and relics. Finally the 1 of 1 stuff.

The regular back mini set is done! Depending on the post office of course. I'll pay $16 delivered for each of the snakes I need. Thanks to everyone for helping me complete this great project. It took the combined efforts of almost 20 people. All of the minis I have left are available for sale if anyone needs them. I'll give all of you great deals before they go off to ebay. I can also help anyone out with the base set, just ask.

  • OK guys, my one (probably) final plea for help in completing the mini set - I'm looking for either back of the following 2 cards:

    1, 336

I'll be very happy to make a lopsided trade or work something else out.

Please shoot me a PM with ideas/offers, thanks.

  • Topps has produced "oddball" A&Gs for shows at various times. I think they did some football players in 06 too.

They also did six ex-presidents through their e-Topps site. Limited print run. A&G design but on refractor stock. Kind of a hybrid A&G-Fractor set.

Yup, getting me an 07 set also. The presidents are too expensive for me though.

It would be cheaper for you to go to etopps, create an account, and then go to cardtarget.com and buy the president cards. Then have Etopps ship em to you for like $10.00... Would cost you about $100 that way.

All right, so a selling question. I picked up a bunch of Bazookas and No Numbers during the early frenzy of A&G with the intention of selling them (no way could I complete either set) to help offset the cost (astronimical these days) of my purchases. My question is do I do it now while the product seems to be drying up from a buying perspective or wait until Winter/Spring when there's not that much out there?

Also, if anybody has A&G back requests, please let me know. I just got in about 50-60 cards from a lot sell that I have duplicates of. I just don't have the time or energy to post them, but could look through if somebody has some holes. Nick & Jason, I didn't see your cards you need in the lot. PM and let me know what you need.

My two bazooka auctions (Kazmir, LaRoche) ended at just over $14 each. My five card lot of no numbers (Durham, B. Molina, Borowski, Hillenbrand, Slaten) went for $41. It seemed to me there was still plenty of competition out there as I had a pretty high amount of watchers and the prices realized were for mostly common players. Hope this helps with your Decision.

  • If anyone is interested, I do have 1 allen ginter president set available. I would need paypal $100.00 dlvd w/delivery confirmation. The cards are still sealed in the original bags/holders and have never been touched. If anyone is interested, email me at tsalems1@yahoo.com
1st to confirm gets it. From what i remember , its a nice low numbered set out of the 999 made. I will have to dig the set out and check the #

Do you all think that there are no number set builders out there or master set builders? Perhaps both and that is what is
driving the price of these up. By Kuom's numbers its better to sell them one by one rather than in a lot..is this true?

I will not be doing the 2007's...
tired of looking for the no#'s and the black variation ticked me off. Many people are selling these as #/50 which is wrong!

While I agree that if two collectors both need the same no number the price would be higher, there's also the risk that one or even worse zero people need a specific card. In that case you're out of luck. In my opinion if these collectors want a specific card bad enough they'll spend enough to buy the entire lot and then sell or just keep the extras. In the end I would bet that the prices would average out whether you sell in a lot or separately. Either way, I'm happy getting an average of $8 for common players.

I've been tracking the market on Bazooka and NNO minis. Bazookas have recently surged again, selling individually. NNO are selling very well in lots, they've been steady, but are picking up a little. It appears everyone finished the "easy" mini sets and are moving to a stiffer challenge.

Welcome to the board. I have some of the cards you need. Please turn on your pm's and I'm sure we can work something out.
  • Just a follow up to my other post on the presidents set for those who are interested...

I have set #50/999 available, still bagged up and sealed in the plastic cases.

    Bill,

Welcome, I thought I'd see you here eventually. by the way Topps has been great to me with regards to replacing damaged cards - very responsive as well. you;ll just need to list the cards you want replaced, show a receipt as well as a upc and/or wrapper from the pack(s).

All: Bill's a standup guy, feel free to trade comfortably with him - Just save your blacks for me! image
