So, which one of you guys is picking up Lester and taking him to the airport now that he's going to be starting against Cleveland?

I hope Lester's comeback is very successful, but I think that just the fact that he has made it back to the big leagues after everything he's gone through is a huge success already.

Now, let's score some more runs for Wakefield today!

How about Lowell has as many bombs as Manny, not sure if thats a good thing? But at any rate we are fortunate to get away with the win. Hopefully we can keep pace with NY, they are on FIRE unfortunately and the schedule does not bode well either. At least we got Tavares in the penn now, I dont think I could stomach him falling apart after getting rattled again.

A family of New York Yankee fans headed out one Saturday to shop for the youngest boy's birthday.

While in the sports shop the son picks up a Red Sox jersey and says to his older sister, "I've decided to become a Red Sox fan and I would like this Boston Red Sox jersey for my birthday."

His big sister is outraged by this and promptly whacks him upside his head and says, "Go talk to mother."

Off goes the little lad with the jersey in hand and finds his mother.
    "Mom?"

    "Yes, son?"

"I've decided I'm going to be a Red Sox fan and I would like this jersey for my birthday."

The mother is outraged at this, promptly whacks him around the head and says, "Go talk to your father!"

Off he goes with the Red Sox jersey in hand and finds his father .
    "Dad?"

    "Yes, son?"

"I've decided I'm going to be a Red Sox fan and I would like this jersey for my birthday."

The father is outraged and promptly whacks his son in the back of his head and says, "No son of mine is ever going to be seen in THAT!"

About half an hour later they're all back in the car and heading towards home. The father turns to his son and says "Son, I hope you've learned something today?"

The son says, "Yes, Dad, I have."

"Good! And what is it you learned?"

The son replies, "I've only been a Red Sox fan for an hour and I already hate you Yankee b@stards!"

They're all coming out from behind the woodshed now! Where's "baseball" and and rest of you guys? A few rounds of beating up the Devil Rays has given you some hope, I see!

I figure by October 3rd the Red Sox will be fighting for a spot in the PO via the wild card.

    The Yanks? Divison champs again.

    Good for you.

And don't forget Dice-K, and Schilling (back this week). Be nice, or I'll have Papelbon make mean faces at you.

7.5 games up. Im not comfortable at all with this lead, it has shrunk to this dangerous level before and we weathered it.. Time to go to work again. Tough games against Cleveland coming up, we need to play good baseball! Lets go Sox!!! image

FYI, Thursday is Girls Night Out at the K. They are giving away pink Royals hats with pink rhinestones for the KC.

I think David Glass should make a bet with George that when KC wins 3 of 4, the Yankees have to get their team pictures taken with those hats on.

well, it won't hurt so bad to see the Sox beat up Cleveland I suppose. I am still rooting for the Sox to lose every single day but if they do win, why not it be a team ahead of the Yanks in the Wild Card race? image Does this not suck fellas? Usually the Yanks are in this spot. While you are enjoying winning a ballgame you know that really what the win is doing is helping your nemisis get a chance to beat you when it counts ..... OCtober. Non-the-less you still have to win or else the Yanks are gaining on YOU image

Four baseball fans - a Cubs fan, a Cardinals fan, a Red Sox fan, and a Yankees fan - are climbing a mountain and arguing about who loves his team more.

The Cubs fan insists he is the most loyal. "This is for the Cubs!" he yells, and jumps off the side of the mountain.

Not to be outdone, the Cardinals fan shouts, "This is for the Cardinals!" and throws himself off the mountain.

The Red Sox fan is next to profess his love for his team.

He yells, "This is for everyone!" and pushes the Yankees fan off the mountain.

Gotta hand it to Lester - very nice game tonight, and just seeing him back on the mound is a great thing.

By the way, Coco is on fire!

just got back to civilization after a few days in the Pacific. Nice to see the Sox on top (7 in the loss column, and that's all that matters). Heard about Lester and that is great news. Julian in the bullpen, I hope. And let me guess, JD Blew is still a waste of $13.9 million/year?

Dice on the hill tonight! Hopefully he can silence the Tribes bats! And Maybe we can pile on some F-IN Runs in support of him...

Let's score F-IN Runs in support of him

With the M's struggling as of late, go ahead and take all 3 from the tribe...would help them keep pace even as they struggle.

    Good guess and right on.

"Was that KC intensity or Sox suckiness?"

A lot of Sox suckiness I thought, but then the Royals fans pointed out to me after I complained bitterly that the Royals have had one of the best records over the last month or two.

Not much offense to speak of, but a great pitching effort for the Sox tonight. We've got to be happy with the result.

Looks like the Yankees are rolling past the Royals pretty easily so I'm really encouraged that we've been winning right alongside them.

Anybody else think it looks like Youkilis is starting to get it together again?

I hope your right about Youk! We definately need him healthy AND hitting like he did at the start of the season..

HUGE WIN TONIGHT. We need to strut right alongside the Yankees while they tear through this weak schedule of theirs, I love the pitching tonight, only 1 run against the tribe? Ussually that would meen a loss right? Going back a few frames on this thread I remember a few of us mentioning ( I know I did ) about being one pitch or one hit away from winning a close game well this game tonight will make up for one of those losses. LETS KEEP IT UP BOYS!!!!

Trust me, I'm not talking any smack but ever since a new alias started "rooting" for the Sox, your lead has shrunk.

    Coincidence?

Well 2 more games against the Tribe, then we catch a break and the shedule gets a little easier with TB and Baltimore coming up hopefully we can at least split the next two against Cleveland ( worst case realisticaly thinking) then maybe we can plow right through the next few series.. Wishfull thinking maybe? I hope not because the Yankees are scaring me.

A 5 game losing streak to terrible teams will do that to you. The Yanks aremaking up fantastic ground and beating teams they are supposed to, something the M's have forgotten how to do. Why the Mariners continue to let Adam Jones sit in Tacoma while Vidro stinks up the league is beyond me. Vidro should be riding the pine, Ibanez should be DHing, and Jones should be in LF, and this move should have happened months ago. Jones has proven himself for months that he's ready for the show, why management in Seattle is so adamant to sit Vidro and his 8 million salary is beyond me.

3 big questions when facing the DRays....1. Will Carl Crawford be healthy? That guy can make the best team lose on any given day all by himself. 2 and 3. Will you have to face Shields and/or Kazmir?
The DRays offense is not bad...and when their two top pitcher are on, they are TOUGH to beat.

Beckett has looked good so far, but Carmona's looking better. We need to score some freakin' runs already!

By the way, why did Coco try to score on that Ortiz hit? I know it was a one-run game, but with Manny coming up next it just didn't seem necessary at that point in the game.

Ah Yea I agree 100%, I was at the gym during that play and I kinda made a scene...

Crisp would have scored easily on that play if he kept running hard.

Naturally Manny was on Deck not doing his job (as usual) giving no help to the runner like he's supposed too. Not that I'm complaining image

    Go Tribe.

P.S. Thanks John Farrel (former Indian) for helping Carmon harness his good stuff last year...

P.P.S. Victor Martinez has really improved his throwing behind the plate.

I know these 1-0 games are considered "good baseball" by some but you know what? F that $hit! A buncha crap 1 run in two games gimme a break! I respect the tribe but their pitching is a not that good so we cant score on these guys? GOOD. Im glad we lost this game. We didnt deserve it.
