Well, so far I've opened 3 boxes out of my hobby box, kind of disappointing, so I'm going to take a break and go look for some retail.

    Here is the breakdown

    1- YT
    1- NA
    2- Arod
    2- FB
    2- TN
    4- Mantle
    2- Chrome
    1- Refractor
    12- SP

    Box 2
    3- YN
    1- YT
    1- NA
    1- Arod
    2- FB
    2- TN
    4- Mantle
    2- Chrome
    1- Refractor
    12- SP
    1- CC Wainright Jersey

    Box 3
    3- YT
    1- YN
    2- NA
    2- Arod
    2- FB
    1- TN
    4- Mantle
    2- Chrome
    1- Refractor

Hopefully I'll have a trade list put together tonight or tomorrow.

I should probably quit while I'm ahead. After busting the equivalent of only 7 hobby boxes (5 hobby and 6 blasters), I've pulled 6 CC relics (Zito, Santana, M. Ramirez, V. Martinez, M. Cabrera & Berra) and two autos. I showed the blue Kell earlier in the thread (from Hobby box #1), and the red beauty below came out of my 5th blaster box:

    image

I still think, as in past years, that there's a regional component to card (especially SP & variation) frequency. For example, I've pulled 30 Yellows, but 16 of them have been dupes (including 3 Clemens and 4 Riveras!). I've decided not to complete the chrome set this year, so I'll be posting my trade list soon: all of my dupes (23 SPs, 16 yellows, 12 inserts), chromes (20 including 4 refractors), Mantles (27, incl. 21 different), Arods (8 different) and felt box toppers (5 different) will be up for grabs.

There's a guy on EBay trying to sell 4 blank cards. He says they are error cards: No. 145, which does not exist. I got two blanks when I ripped two cases. I was thinking of sending them back to Topps? Anybody else get blanks?

    Hey guys!

I finally got around to creating a tradelist for my baseball cards (see link in my sig)! I'm mostly looking to trade for cards I need for my 2006 Topps Heritage set or the other cards in my wantlist, but still, PM me if you need something from my list. I haven't had the time to look at all the wantlists that have been posted yet...

    Thanks!

Well the retail run resulted in 45 packs, no blasters. The packs left a lot to be desired only 2 refractors and not much else. Topps really need to work on their quality control, I had one blank card, one pack that only had four cards, and about 6 cards that looked like they had been bent in half (but the cards on either side of the bent one were fine). Oh well, still have 9 more hobby boxes to go.

I would be interested in a blank card (for my master set). Not sure if it is worth anything.

    Well, I start collating tonite!

I got all the basic subsets from previous sets complete.

And, I was only short 2 Mantles - #22 and 39. Not bad.

I had one dup Arod - #62. So if I want to do the set? I have 11 of 25 - did I do the math right?

    Quality looks OK - overall.

    Now the fun work begins.

Has anyone determined if the ARod subset belongs in a master set? I had decided most definitely not, but last night I noticed on one of the checklist cards that it is listed. This made me think, if it's on a CL, maybe it does???

i opened mine and got no ink.. nothing super special, a few mickey mantles and stuff..

i see that card #85 omar vizquel is on the SP list and on the "yellow team" variations, is this right?..

are all omar vizquel base cards considered SP's? and if so, is the "yellow team" variation more scarce?..

I think if it is on the checklist then it should be included. Down the road....you will see all sorts of different "Master Sets"..some will include AROD cards, Felt Set, Chrome Set, etc.

Perry - I think we're all considering the Yellow Letters and Yellow Team Names as additional SPs. They're seeded as such. The cards that have a "yellow" variation and are listed on the SP list (#13 Ledesma, #23 Kotsay, #50 Buehrle, #58 Swisher, #76 Hamels, #77 Furcal, #85 Vizquel) seem to pull at about the same rate, so I'd say that there isn't one card that is scarcer than the other.

I think the reason that the ARods shouldn't be included is because they are simply a continuation of ARod cards inserted in other products, for instance Topps Series 1. They don't have the Heritage logo, and they are not a complete numbered set available only in Heritage packs, i.e. the Mantle 42-card set.

Even though the HR #'s 50-75 are exclusive to heritage and are on the checklist cards as such....just like the Mantle 42 HR series? I agree that they don't go with the heritage look, and I am disappointed every time I open a pack and see the white card stock at a profile, but I just haven't made my mind up or not whether they will go in my binder or not. Not a rant (well sort of), I just wanted other opinions.
  • Options
The A-Rod cards are no more than a marketing tool, to get card buyers to purchase other sets. Topps is hoping for a cross-over effect.

These have no purpose in the Heritage set. There is no connection to 1958, but they provide Topps with an additional number of special cards to include in each pack. That way they can increase production. That's what it comes down to.

I don't think my AROD cards will go in the binder. I still need a handful of them, but if I do decide to complete the set I will keep them to the seperate. They have no business in this set.

BTW: I just bindered my set up last night and DAMN it looks awesome. I my favorite cards are the Chien Ming Wang and Aaron Rowand cards. The colors on the Wang card just pop of the orange background and the black background of the Rowand card just looks awesome. I wish there were some more black background cards and less yellow. The AS cards look much better all together than they do individually as well.

    just came from Target.

They had 5 of the 20.00 boxes that contain 8 packs.

I bought one because the wife was standing there.

I had visions of buying all of them.image

I am having a hard time locating them now. I would have had a hard time leaving 5 of them on the shelf. Good luck I hope you pull an auto image

BTW Goose did you ever get your hands on a basic set?

My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at the age of 2 (2003). My son was diagnosed with Type 1 when he was 17 on December 31, 2009. We were stunned that another child of ours had been diagnosed. Please, if you don't have a favorite charity, consider giving to the JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation)

<< <i>I think if it is on the checklist then it should be included. Down the road....you will see all sorts of different "Master Sets"..some will include AROD cards, Felt Set, Chrome Set, etc. >>

I think the reason that the ARods shouldn't be included is because they are simply a continuation of ARod cards inserted in other products, for instance Topps Series 1. They don't have the Heritage logo, and they are not a complete numbered set available only in Heritage packs, i.e. the Mantle 42-card set.

    Geordie >>

No way should they be considered part of the set for reasons already stated. I may collect the Mantles to try an put a set together, but as far as I am concerned, they are just filler material. Same with the ARod set, filler material. They are nicely cut and look ok, but I am sick of these HR subsets Topps is producing. Let's see, we have Bonds, two different Mantle sets, ARod, J Gibson, and what else? Who cares.

I'm working on sorting right now and this card pops up - the irony is...

I was thinking while sorting - "I wonder if anyone ever found an auto while sorting?"
