Thought I'd revisit the idea of "super" short prints. I have now busted somewhere in the neighborhood of 17 boxes of '07 Heritage. I have yet to pull any #330 LoDuca, #374 Jose Mesa or #483 Jeters. Seems like I can pull certain SPs at will, but those three are just impossible. Only reason I have one of each is because of trading. For me, it isn't regional either, because my case came from Georgia, while my blasters were all local. Anyone else who has busted a fair amount have those few cards that just don't come up?
You guys are pulling some nice Auto's! I have not pulled one yet, but I am not giving up. I have opened 8 hobby boxes, 20 blasters and one of those 24 pack retail cases. Not only have I not pulled an Auto, but I haven't pulled a black refractor either.
My wife is on her way to Target right now and hopefully they will have some blasters. I have checked every day and so far they have not had any. My local Walmart's must be out as they have not had any for 2 days now.

I still have not pulled a Griffey. It is interesting that you mentioned regional and I live in Cincinnati. I should have pulled at least one by now. I just tallied it up and I have ripped 376 packs.
My wife just called me from Target and they have 6 boxes of Heritage Maybe I will have better luck with the Target boxes.

OK all, I am updating my site once again, with my current chrome list. Im looking to trade my chromes for any autos or black refractors. I also need a few Mantles and Arod and of course Batista..which Im beginning to think doesn't exist.
A few observations so far:
-There are certain SP's which always have surface damage
-Blasters, at least for now, are blowing everything out of the water. I have yet to pull ink out of one, but the chromes and refractors are pulling much better.
-Mantle collation is awful. I really think there are short prints in this set.
-Out of 14 game used cards I have NO doubles. Nice!
-Seat cards seem to be majorly short printed (are these numbered?)

Geordie, I think its just you. I pulled all three out of my first retail box. I have another 3 to rip tonight. I'll PM ya if I see an extra.
Meanwhile I have no Batistas and seem to pull the Visquel SP out of every other pack. It seems to me that the yellow's are easier to pull than the other SP's.
I wouldn't mind comparing Mantle numbers if anyone has some free time. So far NO 39,31,28,22,8 but
6 #7's 5 #1's
Also 5 NAP 15's but missing doubles on many of them
I have pulled 3 Jeter, 3 Griffey, 3 red Sox Team ........ those are the SP's I have noticed being mentioned as possible super SP's. I don't buy it .... I pulled 93 of the 110 SP's from two retail cases. Not too shabby
Edited to say that I have not gone through any yellow variations yet .... just SP's ...
Im pulling Jeter and Grif in the same box when I buy hobby. So far no Jeters or Grifs or Arods in retail, but they do pull in hobby. I also have had a better time with the Pujols SP in retail.
Im not sure if anyone has sat down and looked at condition but here are the cards with the biggest problems so far:
31 Perez..Always a red mark to the left of the head 40 Codero roller marks 67 Mora roller marks 131 Kendrick roller marks 140 Damon...spots and bleeding along the right border 146 Delywn Young...very sloppy..anyone have a mint copy? 204 Spots 217 spots 260 Lowell...o/c always
Where are all the blaster boxes?!?!?!?!?!?!??!?!? My locals targets and wallymarts are barren!!! They have not even come in yet. The shelves are LOADED and there are no empty spaces so where the heck are they?

For those of you contemplating sending cards back to Topps, please note that their current replacement policy [which I strongly disagree with] requires the following PROOF OF PURCHASE. A UPC from the box you are claiming the damaged cards came from, a sales receipt for the purchase of those cards and package wrappers for those damaged cards.
Rant aside, it is my contention that my possession of a damaged card is sufficient "proof of purchase"....Topps needs to improve quality control so that these bad cards do not get out and revise their replacement policy to make it unequivocal that they will make good on the bad cards sent back, no questions asked... Are you reading this thread Mr Eisner ? ? ? Regards, Charlie G ps, I have found that the quality of cards from the four blasters was much better than the nine Hobby boxes I opened.

One reason why they may have changed the policy is that people were intentionally dinging Heritage base (common) cards a few years ago. Topps was including Short-Prints within the replacement cards they sent...so people were sending hundreds at a time looking for free SPs.
Your point is understood, but off center and print splatter occur before the cards go into a pack I pay for, and if it is bad and I bought it sight unseen, then I have a right to be made whole [ get the cards replaced]. Dinged corners and cutter clamp damage also occur before the cards go into the package too as well as during shipping and handling before purchase. It is a 50-50 toss-up if Topps can demonstrate that the card was undamaged before it was purchased by me sight unseen. If I am a collector and I want my damaged cards replaced, I send in twenty five or less and I want a card for card replacement. Topps can adjust their policy for "hundreds of dinged corners' and require more stringent proof of purchase for "big lots" but what is right is right and possession of a damaged card [particularly o/c and print splatter or cutter clamp marks] is sufficient proof. An occarional dinged corner should be a no question replacement...

I just broke 10 target blasters and no ink! I thought if I bought all ten at one store there would ink in at least one box. Wow these autos are tough and it does take some of the fun out of pack busting. Nothing big in pulss to report.

Are they being strict on this this year? They have said things in the past about it but they have never given me a problem. I suppose I can print off my Paypal receiept if they want to see that I ordered 2 cases. Who knows if I can find the box they came out of.....I opened 20......

A Question for all of you: I just found retail packs at target and busted some. They all have the extra filler card from Topps....with some message for kids on it (i forget just now). When i received my retail case last week, none of the packs had that filler card. The blasters from Target also did not have that filler card. Does anyone know the reasoning behind this card? Are the retail cases sent to target/walmart/etc different (with possibly different collation) than the ones released through dealers that I received (via lockwood108) last week?
Turn the card to see if there is an RFID coil on the card [about 1 1/2" square with a spiral wound antenna.] That is the shop-lifting deterrent. It is not on every one of the fillers, but enough to be a deterrent. On the Blasters you will find that RFID on the inside on the cardboard packing.

however, that confirms the fact that topps knows which "retail" cases actually are destined for retailers....since the "retail" case I got from my dealer had none of these shoplifting deterrents.
So, the retail case I get (and presumably many of you) are different than the retail cases sent to retailers.

black refractors. I also need a few Mantles and Arod and of course Batista..which Im beginning to think doesn't exist.
A few observations so far:
-There are certain SP's which always have surface damage
-Blasters, at least for now, are blowing everything out of the water. I have yet to pull ink out of one, but the chromes and refractors are
pulling much better.
-Mantle collation is awful. I really think there are short prints in this set.
-Out of 14 game used cards I have NO doubles. Nice!
-Seat cards seem to be majorly short printed (are these numbered?)

<< <i>Thought I'd revisit the idea of "super" short prints.
Geordie >>
Geordie, I think its just you. I pulled all three out of my first retail box. I have another 3 to rip tonight. I'll PM ya if I see an extra.

Meanwhile I have no Batistas and seem to pull the Visquel SP out of every other pack. It seems to me that the yellow's are easier
to pull than the other SP's.
I wouldn't mind comparing Mantle numbers if anyone has some free time.

Regards,
Charlie G
ps, I have found that the quality of cards from the four blasters was much better than the nine Hobby boxes I opened.

Are they being strict on this this year? They have said things in the past about it but they have never given me a problem. I suppose I can print off my Paypal receiept if they want to see that I ordered 2 cases. Who knows if I can find the box they came out of.....I opened 20......

<< <i>A Question for all of you: I just found retail packs at target and busted some. >>
I got 3 each Jeter and Arod, only 1 Griffey & Pujols SP, no 257 or 312. Is the Swisher issue settled? Does a white team letters exist for him?
Card 397 Tigers team, has anyone seen one that says American League?

however, that confirms the fact that topps knows which "retail" cases actually are destined for retailers....since the "retail" case I got from my dealer had none of these shoplifting deterrents.
So, the retail case I get (and presumably many of you) are different than the retail cases sent to retailers.
