Spending some time with a few raw things this morning. As a collector I struggle selling off things knowing the will be destroyed. So much history is being lost in the "Great Melt of 2026". The hobby will take a hit for sure as less material is out there.

I have a perfectly nice and original chopped 77/7-S in PCGS/CAC XF45...so I bought this one from a euro auction...because? Just force of habit, I guess. Not terrible surfaces and I like the variety but the chops are questionable. At least it was cheap.
Well, seems like I haven't had a Saturday Morning at home all year.
Actually, come to think of it, I haven't!
The first one I was with my oldest and his wife in Visalia, CA. The next one I was travelling home from FUN. And last weekend ... well ... I absolutely lucked into that early afternoon museum as I was freezing in Omaha. But man, what a great time that was!
Anyway ...
Today is regular pour-over Italian Roast, black as night and bold as the recent PM move ... in the quiet luxury of my small home office.
.
I found a few coins at FUN, including one that I won in Sheridan Downey's auction, and one that I purchased privately, both of which formerly belonged to a friend and former Club Member Dick Scorzafava. Rest in Peace, Big Game Hunter.
To kick off the 2026 Saturday mornings of new coins here, I start with those two.
.
The first is an 1811 O-111a in P55 which I showed in the first purchase of 2026 Thread but will repost and share here. This one graces the Die Marriage Set for the 111. She's just a lovely coin in hand, and super photogenic as well.
.
The next is an 1833 O-102 in P58cac which I won in Sheridan's MB61 Auction, which was an upgrade to the 102 I had. This one has better color and surfaces, and should hold the spot for many years to come.
.
both of these were imaged by my friend @lkeigwin

Cool write up on Byron Reed, Pursuit. I was in Omaha last year for the college world series because my son's little league team was also in a tourney there. Would have made time had I known.
Currently it's a frigid 42 degrees here in So. Texas and I'm looking for some high grade moderns to help fund my new addiction. Plus I added my second CBH that should be here next week.
Thanks @Coinscratch I would imagine a great deal of people do not know that exhibit is there. And just a hop, skip and a jump from the stadium and all the cooler parts about that area of downtown.
Love your 33-104 She's a fine looking girl!

Made some espresso today for the first time in a while. Hit the spot.
Fresh back from the sticker factory.
1835 O-109. When I saw this in the lot viewing for the early cents auction at the last ANA, I knew I had to own it. There was a 20-103 that was outstanding but this was the one for me (also I would’ve never lasted in that bidding war )
Enjoying my trade dollar album and pondering the upcoming week which will be chockful of fun coin stuff. Potentially expensive as well...depends on how things go on Tuesday in the Stack auction.
This 76-S has obverse 2 and reverse 2 with a large mintmark which is a very scarce variety. This came out of a NGC 45 holder.
Cold this morning so enjoying some hot black coffee on this last day of January. Enjoying and marveling at how this 1858 half survived all these years in good shape.
Happy Saturday, all. Is there a better indoor hobby in the winter than coin collecting?
Here is a collage I made of the extant Merriam & Co.'s Toad Press tokens. (They're not all mine!) A few others are out there, Im sure.
Very popular, they are paired with the Good for a scent obverse die.

Happy “Red Eye” Saturday everyone! Today’s combo is a Melozio with a Diavolitto boost.
I’m posting my first post FUN buy. I saw this coin on display @ the show; it was an offering in the Ohio Collection that went live after FUN. As I was looking at the collection, I couldn’t take my eyes off this beautiful, lustrous, proof like piece:
The Browning 4 is a R-1. This is only my second CBQ; I owned a 1831 Small Letters many years ago.
I always liked the design of these, even a little more than the CBH’s - it just seems nicer on the smaller diameter quarter (uh oh - that last comment could get me in trouble with the CBH guys)!

The same here, except in my case, it's this 1877-S WB-6 picked off of eBay after looking at about 150 or so 1877-dated halves.
"...And There it IS! Wow! That's it! Position of the bump on the "F"? Correct. Mintmark position? Correct. Leaf tip missing? Correct. BINGO! Date position? It's a WB-6! How much?"
Had some extra time this morning for a second cup. Finally got around to taking a photo of this one. I kept the coffee out of the way as not not spill on it

Three new girls from the FUN show time.
The 1814 is an O-102a that is a stone cold original that was brought for me by a Club member/friend.
The 1832 is a tough Die Marriage (O-114) with a great grey-dirt skin from the purveyor of grey-dirt CBH's, David Kahn.
The 1828 is a lovely original O-115 with just the right amount of color over a powerful strike and lovely luster which I won at the HA Auction after the show (I viewed this coin in hand at the show prior to deciding to bid).
Hopefully I'll have glamour shots to share over the next few weeks.
