Ok, ok, it’s Monday morning, but it’s a holiday, and I’m having my morning coffee.
Seeing @7Jaguars K5 just above, with the lead in “…now here’s an Eagle”, reminded me of my favorite. It’s not rare by any means, although what it represents is indeed rare and highly sought after.
Here’s the photo, and below it is the info:
This is a silver round made by the Intaglio Mint, sold at limitedmintage.com. It has a 39mm diameter, just a hair wider than a Morgan Dollar, and comes in 1 oz. and 2 oz. versions. The 2 ounce version is about 1/4 inch thick! These sell for about $40 and $80 respectively, plus reasonable shipping. Not bad for a piece of beautiful art on a chunk of .999 fine silver.
“Screaming Eagle” is the #1 cult wine (it’s Cabernet) of Napa Valley. To get on the mailing list, you first have to wait on the waiting list. My understanding is the current wait is estimated to be over 15 years. I’m fortunate in that I made it to the actual mailing list over 20 years ago. Once you’re on the mailing list, they will sell you only three bottles a year!

Good morning all,
Here is a token I sold to a big dealer, and when he auctioned it, I bought it back for less. Must've fell through the cracks:
It's a duplicate piece in my collection, but they're so hard to find this niece in brass. Joseph H Merriam storecard, NGC MS65 MA115-2b.

Good to follow the OP today! Back home so that means Red Eye Saturday! Interesting that my offering today is similar to the OP’s in that it’s one I sold & bought back at a much later date:
I originally let it go as part of a swap. At the time, I didn’t realize how rare it was/is. In BN, it’s a pop 1/0 (there are 9 circulated ones at most). There’s also 1 RB in MS64; no RD’s. Bottom line is it’s a VERY tough variety that I regretted parting with almost immediately. I never thought I would see it again, let alone have the chance to own it again. Beautiful toning - I’m a “sucker” for those!
This is such a great place to visit Saturday mornings!
.
This morning I was compiling and sending a list of a lot of books and auction catalogues to some friends. I am helping another friend unburden himself with bookshelves full. He gave me a really favorable deal (and first shot) at some material, and so I am trying to make it as easy as possible for him, and I am spending a good AU58 CBH's worth of funds to up my library game.
.
Maybe this much???
.
A girlfriend that's been with me for a while, from a fellow board member. Thanks Ken!

O-105 (105.2), r.1; Deep thick luster with fully original skin and an attractive mix of russets, golds and teal colors, much deeper on the reverse.
By private treaty, however when formerly offered by David Kahn it was described with the following, "The die state is a little interesting, with this being a full "a" state, but for the missing die crack. I've studied Bust halves for over 35 years and never seen that crack."
“We are only their care-takers,” he posed, “if we take good care of them, then centuries from now they may still be here … ”
A dear old friend of mine has a eight year old son who has cropped up an interest in coin collecting. He started a 20th century type set, so I picked up a few things to send him. Here's one headed his way. And one of my favorite cups-a.
Currently checking out this cherry though I wish I could’ve been here this morning to show her off but nonetheless I am happy to say that I finally memorized my wife’s drink while standing in line at Starbucks in the hotel lobby this morning.
Americana café grande Hot with two Stevia and two pumps of sugar-free vanilla. And for you sir?
Double espresso.
Whatever floats your cream, right :-)
This morning I picked up a great addition to my recently started Proof Barber Dime set. Pedigree Simpson and “Young-Dakota”.
There are 11 graded either PR67DCAM or PR67+DCAM (6 by PCGS - 4 at 67DCAM and 2 at 67+DCAM, and 5 by NGC - all at 67DCAM). Of those 11, only 2 merit a CAC sticker.

Lost & Found today. Contemplating why I ever let this one go while sipping my Red Eye on this beautiful Saturday. Sparkling clean, lustrous, beautiful color, cool variety, loads of striations, near PL. And, I know where it is residing in another’s Registry set. I asked but the current owner rightfully doesn’t want to let it go. Too bad, but my fault in the first place!
GM Saturday folks - Went to the Yankee/Red Sox game last night and got home late - missed tennis and going to play pickleball. But before PB - here are my 1797 JR-1 dimes. What I love about these babies are the progressive die cracking in the die.The first one shows a slight die crack on the obverse just above the date which I consider an early middle state. The other one is a very late die state where the date is completely gone. I think that's one of the finer late die states around. Isn't collecting early US mint coinage so cool? Oh yeah - off to getting a coffee before PB
All coffee’d out by 10am, but can’t get enough of this little gem dollar picked up a few months ago..
time to start looking for a private mint cousin, at least keeping my eyes open for one
@EastonCollection said: @Inspired70 - I can totally understand spending a good amount of time looking at your 67 Seated Dollar. Absolutely fabulous example.
Thank you @EastonCollection. The OGH case is a little beat up but the coin is really nice. She is an MS64 CAC with a strong possibility of being under graded. Think she would pretty easily plus, with shot 65.
Everyone sleeping in today? 😆

Here is a fabulous new purchase: The Antiquary/Great Eastern reverse. PCGS MS65BN
Even though I've been in selling mode lately, this CRO offering spoke to me. It's a rare muling that uses Lovett's harbor scene of the Great Eastern towering over other ships. The Antiquary motif is usually paired with John Curtis' advertising info, so this is pretty neat. And it is the most visually stunning Antiquary I've seen, very clean.
Have a great morning, all. Wake up and get caffeinated!

Red Eye Saturday is here & it looks to be a beautiful day here in the SF Bay Area. We have a doubleheader today - a wedding & a college graduation party! Also thinking about today’s coin:
This is one of my favorite coins of all time - certainly in my top 10. This one proves it doesn’t have to be a pricey, extreme rarity to be great! I’ve seen & owned woodgrain pieces before, but none come close to this one. And the luster! It fairly drips & enhances the coin’s exceptional eye appeal. I’ve owned it for a long time overall; I did sell it for a brief period once when I bought Tom Bender’s 66+. But when I had the chance to get it back, there was no hesitation - an absolute YES & “welcome home”!
While this hobby is a great a wonderful place for my inquisitive mind, my soul is replenished when I immerse myself with mother nature. I arrived home last night from a wonderful trip. The image above is from Tuesday morning, while kayaking on Fourmile Lake in Southern Oregon. That is Mt. McLoughlin, from the NE side.
Five lakes in five days, about 30 hours in the kayak paddling and fishing, some of that in difficult (and arm straining) winds … many miles of water covered.
When it comes to fishing, I am a hook-and-release guy for the most part … almost always have been. But, I know I caught at least 9 different species of fish (somewhere over or at 70 successful hook-and-releases … and 4 failed ones … it’s easy to lose count of actually fish when the fishing is good however). The biggest was a fantastic Rainbow that went all of 21” and probably was pushing 4 lbs. A 7” Perch was probably the smallest. I never expected the Bluegill, but I will say this, they were fighters despite their small stature. Anyway the ones I caught were;
Rainbow Trout
Tiger Trout (a first of this species for me)
Lake Trout
Kokanee (land-locked Sockeye Salmon)
Chinook Salmon
Smallmouth Bass
Bluegill
Perch
Crappie
As I circled back against the wind to figure out what to do with one failed release (a large 16" rainbow) on my final day, a magnificent Bald Eagle came across from a spit of land and stand of pines where he nests, and plucked it from the lake, probably 25 yards from me. A circle of life moment, and a stunning way to witness it. The other failed releases had similar moments and outcomes, but that was special. I’ve also fished that particular lake at least 4 times in the last 7 years, so I am familiar with that particular bird. I don’t remember him the first time, but I know he has been there since.
On that note, for birds of prey I saw while paddling, I witnessed;
Bald Eagle
Golden Eagle
Osprey
Cooper's Hawk
Peregrine Falcon
Redtail Hawk
... and at least a few more I'm not 100% sure about.
Sorry to bore you. I still have a wave motion in my upper body if I walk slow or lay down. Kind of like Sailor legs from the waist up if anyone understands the sensation. Hahaha.
Anyway, it was a great trip. Refilled my soul.
And since this trip was mostly about Rainbow Trout, but this board is about Coins, here’s a CBH with some pastel rainbow-like colors (and a magnificent eagle on the reverse ).
Have a great Saturday, whatever you’re doing.
