I didn't watch the game, but the highlights show the Cavs scoring early and often down the lane. These kind of "substitute" games can be hard to figure out, sort of like pre-season MLB. Once the players got accustomed to each other they played fine and seemed to have an extra gear for the 4th quarter.
Sure, Brady argued plenty of missed calls but I don't ever remember there being a time where he didn't get one, started to leave the field then immediately went back out to midfield where he dropped and threw a temper tantrum on the turf like some 6yr old girl in Walmart whose parents wouldn't buy her that My Little Pony doll sitting on the store shelf.
I caught 99% of Tom Brady's career NFL games live and it's realistically possible that I may have missed that happening during one of the handful of games where I wasn't able to tune in.
EDIT: Look I get it, plenty of fans get put off by certain players actions or comments and will voice it, It sounds like you may have had one with Brady at some point which really isn't any different than how I view Lebron at times (or how Steven called out Tatum following that Cavs game on page 9 of this thread.) Everyone here has a free right to single out a certain player for something said or done so, Go For Yours!
I didn't really "call out" Tatum - I just thought it was stupid to bash the opposing team so early in the 1st quarter
then how he looked after they ended up losing! Kinda different if you are up 23 with a few minutes left then by all means start the dagger party.

You had every right to point it out and I agree Tatum should have done his talking after a win was in hand. What i will say in his defense though is there's almost certainly a other side to this story where someone on the Cavs was trash talking with him and we likely just got the end of it (which did make Tatum look like a fool.)
Yeah, you never know the whole story - just what the cameras show. I see Tatum is playing tonight - I heard yesterday he might not because something was wrong with his knee.
"When they can't find anything wrong with you, they create it!"
Foul trouble will do that, both Brown & White each fouled out for the first time all season. With as physical an overall game that it was, OKC had the luxury of getting to the line 35 times to just Boston's 12 and that was pretty much the difference in a 6pt loss for Boston. Absolutely great overall game though with a playoffs type atmosphere.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander tends to get a lot of calls go his way (IIRC he shot as many FT attempts as the Celtics team did as a whole or very close to it) which led to his two main defenders fouling out.
The GSW v. Kings game last night was a treat. 130-111 win for the Warriors. 13-2 since acquiring Jimmy Butler.
GSW played very well on both sides of the ball.
GSW shot 58% from the field and 56% from three. Constant passing and moving on offense resulted in wide open shots from beyond the arc and uncontested lay ups and dunks down low. A very fast paced offense with all five players on the floor being a scoring threat. 11 GSW players scored, including 8 players who scored in double figures. Curry took 9 shots and Butler took 5 shots.
Kuminga played his first game since being injured in early January. He played 20 minutes, had 18 points and was electric. His quickness, speed and explosiveness is amazing. He can get to the basket at will.
Next up for GSW will be the Knicks, Nuggets and Bucks. If GSW manages to win all three of these games it will be quite a feat.
I was checking some scores yesterday and caught a short clip on the Mike Patrick Show. He was going on about how the National media doesn't seem to be too excited about the Cavaliers. He made some good points, principally that they aren't very flashy. Thing is, their body of work this year is pretty good. Starters are solid, team defense is good, their bench is among the NBA's best and they have now had three 15 game win streaks this season. Patrick ran down the team's standing relative to other teams at this point in the season and I think he said they rank 5th.
I understand that they aren't flashy and could go one and done in the playoffs, but what they are doing so far is pretty special. The fact that they've done it without a marquise player and been under the radar is quite a feat. Based on what they have done so far I expect them to match up with Boston for the Conference Championship. The games should be outstanding and win/lose the series they won't be a secret any longer.
If we're lucky enough to get a BOS/CLE conference finals then that should be a very entertaining matchup but we all know that there are no guarantees here for any team. At this time a year ago I'm guessing not many people predicted a Celtics/Pacers or Mavs/Wolves conference finals or even a Celtics/Mavs Finals. You really can't even takeaway anything from a 1st place team owning another playoff opponent during the regular season either, just look at OKC last season. They finished 1st out West and had a 3-1 regular season record vs the Mavs and Dallas ended their season in 6.
I don't pay any attention to any of the national media stuff but I'm guessing many are taking a wait & see approach with the Cavs and their possible playoffs success. They do deserve plenty of praise for their play this season and even more for how they've gone about building that roster but playoffs basketball is an entirely different animal where your flaws get exposed (and they still have some, imho.) What Cleveland has done is put themselves in the best possible position to take that next step come playoffs time, we'll soon find out if they will.
What do you see as their flaws?? If anything, I see them as not having a solid 1-2-3 in their starting line up. Boston has Tatum, Brown and Horford. After that they are average. Cleveland has Mitchell and nobody else that really stands out. To be sure, in the playoffs I think the bench is a key and that's where the Cavs seem to excel.

These are just my own opinions and need to be taken with a grain of salt.
Come playoffs time, I'd expect to see both Darius Garland & Jarrett Allen repeatedly get singled out in the pick & roll while on defense. Garland doesn't have the size to handle stronger/longer offensive players on a continuous basis and ballhandlers are probably going to drag Allen out beyond the 3pt line then blow right by him on the way to the rim. Mitchell is lacking in length too but he's built like a tank so probably less so.
One positive in the Cavs favor regarding that Allen part is they have Mobley to help protect the rim behind Allen but if Mobley is guarding a shooter it becomes do we give up a 2 or a 3 there?
While I think that Donovan Mitchell can score on par with some of the best in the league I'm not sure that he's the guy to lead a team to a championship. He had some very deep rosters behind him In Utah that included plenty of 3pt shooting & defense, a multiple time DPOY winner in Gobert and a very good HC in Quinn Snyder yet the Jazz fizzled out of the playoffs pretty quick during his tenure there. In B2B seasons Mitchell & the Jazz had the #1 overall seed in the West and didn't get past the second round.
I'm in the camp that tends to believe that NBA stars improve as they get older so maybe Mitchell in Cleveland redeems himself for those past failures, another wait & see.
This one is less of a flaw and more of wait & see too. The Cavs top 4 players (Mitchell/Garland/Allen/Mobley) have all sort of been injury prone throughout their careers and have all to this point been surprisingly healthy, will that hold up long enough for a deep playoff run? Again, playoffs basketball is its own beast, basically a war of attrition to see who will be the last man standing after an additional two months of tough physical play.
To counter this last part, its absolutely in the realm of possibility that this doesn't become an issue at all for the Cavs.
In regards to the main gist of your comment, I honestly don't think that you've watched enough of your Cavs, or even Celtics games, if you really think that either team doesn't have players that stand out after the main stars. I've been praising the Cavs front office all season for putting together a well rounded roster around Garland & Mitchell and I've meant every word. Their supporting cast is as good as it gets IMO, they're just not as battled tested in the playoffs as some other teams. When it comes down to crunch time though, Cleveland will have their starters out there, not their bench.
For Boston, Al Horford is like Boston's 6-7th best player behind the Jays, Jrue, Porzingis, Derrick White and even Payton Pritchard at this point. Holiday & White both just helped Boston with the Finals and then Team USA win the gold and that was after they were both named to the NBA All-Defensive teams.
Having said all of that above, I'm not knocking Cleveland in any way, just pointing out what I think could prevent them from beating the Celtics or winning the Finals. Some of it could be a real factor, or none of it. Their main 7-8 man rotation that will play in the playoffs has plenty of talent, they're having a great season and there's definitely a best case scenario where they could win it all. They're just not the favorites, imho, even though they're sitting in the #1 seed so take that FWIW.
Well, they played badly but should have been expected to lose eventually. A loss like that and maybe even the next game really releases pressure from the staff and players. Any long winning streak in an sport eventually has to end.
The record is 33 games by the Lakers which is hard to wrap my head around. That's half the season!!!

Maybe he's a bit fatigued and has been trying to play through it? With 13 games left on the schedule you'd hope that Atkinson starts giving some of these guys a night off here & there before the playoffs start. Although, I'm not sure of the exact number of actual days off but the playoffs teams get (I think) a week of rest during the Play-In tourney to see who gets the 7-8th seeds which should help everyone.
Cleveland has the East #1 seed pretty much locked up at this point but they're still fighting with OKC for that 1st overall league wide which sets up who would have home court in the Finals, if they get there.
I caught the final 15-18mins of the Cavs/Suns game and Mitchell was definitely having a brutal night shooting, I don't remember him hitting a single shot during that stretch. Unless we hear otherwise I'd just assume he's got tired legs which tends to rear its head in a player's shooting percentage.
I wouldn't worry above the Celtics catching the Cavs in the standings over these final 12 games of the season. The Cavs are too good to have a monumental collapse like that, they're just having a bad week.
Think about it, in the last 6 days, March 16th - March 21st, the Cavs lost almost 25% of their season total of losses. I think it's the result of a long season meeting overscheduling right after the longest winning streak in the NBA season. Teams typically play every 2-3 nights, not 4 games in 6 nights. That would fatigue anyone.
Every few years a team starts out so hot that I feel like someone is going to threaten 70 again... and then I remember that it's a nearly impossible task.
@Steven59 said:
And Mitchell out tonight with....................wait for it............................sore groin! Go figure.
I bet its a hernia from tossing all those bricks over this past week. 😎
Boston caught a legit scare last night when Tatum rolled an ankle on a made three. It didn't look good but thankfully word came out postgame that wasn't serious.
So Cavs finally win but now have to head to Detroit tonight for a game tomorrow - back to backs after a one day rest from the West Coast swing. At least Mitchell looked a lot better tonight.

Looks like the Cavs have finally shook the funk off in the 2nd half to win going away - BUT: Mitchell plays 21 minutes and goes 0-5 from 3.

I bet its a hernia from tossing all those bricks over this past week. 😎
Boston caught a legit scare last night when Tatum rolled an ankle on a made three. It didn't look good but thankfully word came out postgame that wasn't serious.

How come the West road trip doesn't seem to be giving Boston any problems? Back to 4.5 games.

They played lights out last night even with no Tatum in the lineup. Hopefully they sit him for their next game at SA on Saturday.

So Cavs finally win but now have to head to Detroit tonight for a game tomorrow - back to backs after a one day rest from the West Coast swing. At least Mitchell looked a lot better tonight.
