Shocking. He sold his prized collection of Libertas Americana tokens and medals a couple years back, and I had hoped he simply was moving on to new adventures.

This is a big loss of a great benefactor, sharer of his expertise, and overall numismatic knowledge. 😢

I was honored to get to know Martin Logies personally via the PSGS Forum, and enjoyed our discussions & his feedback on my raw AU Bust Dollar and other coins.

I send my sincerest condolences to his family, and wish them strength to get through this difficult time.

My God, That’s way too soon! :'(

I really admired his collection. I interacted with him several times and he was always eager to share and truly a gentleman.

He paid me a huge compliment on one of my coins, one time, and it felt really good coming from him.

We were fortunate to have him participate here.

This one kind of hits me.. :(

He was young. I was fortunate enough to attend the auction where his 1794 dollar was sold to TDN. Cardinal was in attendance and seemed pleased with the results.

It was a bitterly cold night in NYC and Oreville and I chatted for some time afterwards, in part because neither of us wanted to go back out into the cold. I still think about the half disme Cardinal sold that night, which I think was the overlooked super-gem of that auction.

My condolences to his family and friends.

Give yourself a little more credit. You were a pleasure to chat with and I did not stick around just because it was bitter cold outside.. LOL.

It was one of the few times I was happy for both the seller (Martin) and the buyer (Bruce). Laura (Legend) made sure that she would not be outbid on Bruce’s behalf by pulling a well known and effective Pittman routine. I was no expert on these early American silver dollars as I did not even own one until I bought a circulated 1798 draped bust dollar from Peak Rarities just a year ago.

I pm'd with Martin and we discovered we grew up close to each other and went into some of the same local coin shops when we were children and young adults. His home in Middlefield, heart of the local Amish community, is about 15 miles due south of me. I wish I'd have known he was living there. This will sound strange, but although we never met and only knew each other casually here, his face looks familiar to me. Perhaps we passed on the street or somewhere in public and never knew it. He always struck me as a humble, unassuming gentleman.

With each passing day and loss the World becomes a little less interesting. RIP.

aside to @Oreville, did you ever stop into the Rascal House or the Euclid Tavern while you were in Cleveland??

Terrible sad news, and far too young. Martin was a great collector, and I think we are all a little better for having him in our presence.

I only had the pleasure of PM'ng with him a few times, probably 12 to 15 years ago, but I remember his knowledge and passion was infectious ... and he even asked for my address and sent me a small booklet he had published.

My condolences to his family and friends.

I will always remember how cool it was when we had "Copper For The Weekend". i would post something like a CWT worth about 10 bucks. Then Cardinal would come along and post an ultra rarity in immaculate condition. The only difference was 3 or 4 more zeros.
