Nothing like the wonderful coins in here, but back when I put the set together, it was a labor of love on a very tight budget.
1877 & 1903 - My two fave coins from the Dansco. The 1877 unfortunately came back as AG details with environmental damage.

Recently reviewed - it stayed 64RD but PCGS neglected to add back the S-2 designation. Now also has the CAC sticker. Submitted again for them to correct as it’s the only RD S-2 known. I used to own this years ago & jumped at the chance to acquire it again.

@joeykoins: thanks for posting! I’m not sure about the crackout - do you intend to flip it? First of all, I like the rev, even though the pic is small. I’m sure a lot of the noise on the obv are slab hits, but what about the scratch in front of the ear to the jawline? If that’s on the coin, I’m afraid it will come back as “details”. JMO….

Graded 66+RD. Pop 5/0. Spirited bidding for this one in the HA auction yesterday. Even though I don’t do much with RD IHC’s anymore, I decided to take a shot at this one. I was the underbidder; winner paid $24k. Congrats to him/her - great coin!

OK Steve - I have an answer. They don’t. But, they do have an arrangement with EERC for his submissions. He tells them ahead of time what variety the coin is & they include it on the label.

I am now just down to 1860 to complete a Copper-Nickel Indian Cent proof collection from 1858-1866!
Here is the 1865 (Plain 5), recently acquired. 77%CU 33%NI, giving it more of a white look. Ex Newman.
The 1858, 1865 "Plain 5", 1865 "Fancy 5" and 1866 are patterns.
Grades are as follows:
1858: PR64
1859: PR64
1860:
1861: PR65
1862: PR65CAM
1863: PR64CAM
1864: PF64CAM
1865 Fancy 5: MS65 (non-proof graded, but appears proof like)
1865 Plain 5: PF65

Thanks Ken! The Newman specimen has the metrics on the slab. Interestingly, the original envelope that came with the Newman Specimen indicates he thought this coin was pure Nickel. I am guessing an XRF determined otherwise. I work for a company that makes XRF guns, I need to inquire about seeing what kind of discount I can get!

Concluding correction: in the first post, I said “FS” instead of cherrypickers. A couple of these do note FS ID’s. Accuracy prevails, just late.

Here is a pickup from last nights Great Collections Auction. This is one of the 10 1859 with Shield "True Proofs" that Rick has in his census. It is very rare. I really wanted to buy the Blay example, PR64, but it was just too much for me to swing.
This one resides in an OGH and I when I get the coin, I might consider having it regraded. I really cannot see why this only went to PR62.

First of all, I love this thread; I found it buried on page 7. I have a new one today with a shoutout to @redraider - thanks for making it available! It’s perhaps the finest known of this unusual variety. On the obv, there’s a digit sticking out of the lower hair curl next to the ribbon end. On the rev, there’s a die gouge between the arrow quill & lower olive leaf. As a bonus, the coin is 80% RD.
