Ditto. I was not overly impressed by the issues this time but remain an ardent fan of Carr and his coins!

No love for the 1891 Columbia overstrikes? I collect the classic commemorative coins so I couldn’t pass this up.

It’s one of my favorite commemoratives but there is something about the two Carr versions that made me not want them enough to pick up at issue price. If these fall in the aftermarket I might consider them then. I also like the toned pieces Carr has done over the years and if these were toned, that would have possibly made the difference.

@U1chicago good luck in your aftermarket search. I never see much ( or any) decline in his issues, but patience is a virtue.

The 1921 Peace is one example…I bought one from Carr at issue price of 145 and then saw them get as low as $90 (I picked up an Anacs slabbed one for more than that but less than the 145).

I saw this one on eBay and just about purchased it. I think it's kind of cool. I am unsure of the mintage though.

That’s the type I was referencing although the one you show is a much more limited version of the original (non double strike). I’m guessing only a handful exist of the double strike.

I'm guessing you haven't yet looked at the mintages (so far): http://www.moonlightmint.com/blog_61.htm

That is, if any ever appear in the aftermarket, I bet they sell for a premium -- especially if slabbed with MM's typical high MS grade.

That is the mintage so far; it’s not final. And that is already about a 100 each, which is usually more than enough to not bring much of a premium unless it’s a popular design (like a capped bust or an Oregon Trail). My experience with many of the recents releases (last few years) is that they don’t go up. People ask for well over issue price on eBay but the items don’t sell. And when they go to auction, there are opportunities to pick them up for under issue price (like the 1921 Carr Peace which was 145 issue price and would sell at auction for 90-120, even if slabbed by Anacs).

I do not believe he would do that due to the legal ramifications. An 1855 DDO Indian Cent might be fun though.

My first Carr's were 1964D's bought 2nd hand off flea bay in 2013 and on. Fun start for me.

Oddly at the moment I have no expanded Carr Art requests.

For years wanted to add a couple or more Cameo 1965D's or P's or S's Peace Bucks as that is wifey's birth year.

From the Mint I bought the 2023 Peace & Morgan proof and reverse proofs. A mixed roll of 20. They all turned out problem free, though laser etched cameo dies are kind of weird. They play well with the Carr Fantasies. $80 to $92.50 a piece for 9/10oz 999 fine. I am sad I passed on their 2021 Peace Unc issues.

Maybe Santa Carr takes requests, that is, if you've been good ?

This might be cool. Quarter Eagle would need to be a small eagle though, and no double eagle.

Same price on the 1793 ($125). I agree with @COCollector: the price increase probably reflects Dan's cost for finding (more) suitable Trade Dollars to overstrike.

I hope my Trade donors do not have plugged holes. From what I've noticed plugged hole remain evident after fantasy dies are applied. I wonder if there are chop marked donors ? I've never considered acquiring Trade Bucks so I am excited to learn about the series.
