I have not been on the forums very much recently. I just read about @ricko's passing. I am utterly speechless and in disbelief. He will be missed and his wisdom thankfully will be carried on within this forum.

I joined here about 3 yrs ago, but have been collecting for decades.
I havent been around much, but do check in from time to time.
1 of the FIRST things I noticed when I joined was how classy RickO was!
Being a modern US proof collector, we shared the clean blast white preference.
I read the obit from the other thread and didnt realize he was basically in my neck of the woods.
I've worked in his area, and knew a friend who lived there for a while anyway.
I feel I missed a chance to meet a great guy.
you all lost a galaxy of blast-white love, courtesy, and knowledge; all you got to replace it is this lousy box of churlish apples. Clearly he was loved and cherished.
I have always felt a connection with @Ricko as I live about 50 miles south and have a great view to the North where he lived. When I'd read his posts, I'd relate more knowing that the voice that I was reading was from just among those beautiful hills of my home. I'd corresponded occasionally with him but never met him. I share everyone's sadness at this loss.
But we must stay positive and realize what vast wealth we still have here in our contributors. And new faces are coming on all the time while the existing ones become more knowledgeable and contribute more. Sad as it may be, we'll be OK as long as we have more like @Ricko among our ranks. Embrace and support them and the future.

Very sad indeed. I exchanged many PM's with RickO over the years. He always had such a reassuring and comforting attitude. Very at peace with the world.
It's hard to believe he's not with us. We will not soon forget "Cheers, RickO."

Thanks for sharing that with us @Goldbuster it’s nice to know that he went, peacefully. I, too, was cheering him on towards 100,000. He was so close and would have gotten there soon. What I liked most about Ricko was that he always commented on my posts. He was reliable and consistent. Almost always positive and the rest was just honest, constructive criticism, which was also appreciated. Whenever I PM’ed him, he always answered me right away. You could always count on RickO.

Well, I am very late to this sad news as I do not visit this site as often as I used to. I am very upset to hear of this monumental loss to the forum. I was fond of Ricko not only for his always-gentlemanly and interesting contributions to this forum, but also because I, having a love for toned coins, knew I could gently tease him and get away with it. Also, being a musician (singer) in my other life, I had corresponded with Ricko via email numerous times and knew that he was a distant cousin (or some relation, I forget exactly how) to the famous longtime conductor Eugene Ormandy, of the Philadelphia Orchestra. We had even tossed around the idea of him coming down and doing a coin show together, where he could sell some of those blast-white coins! RIP dear friend Ricko, and Pat, thank you for telling us of his peaceful end. I am so sorry for your immense loss.
