Im happy to report the Mets took the home opener from the Marlins handily, 9-3.
I'm enjoying coffee with my kiddo over breakfast right now.

Good morning! Coffee in hand, going through the whirlwind of a week I had with coins.
Last Saturday I was kind of taking a breather ... a new auction purchase in hand that hadn't cost a lot ... thinking of how to get the war chest fatter for summer. And then other stuff happened!
Since Sunday ...
Sold four 1/4 ounce Eagles through the BST (had kind of planned on this)
Won an 1806 Draped Bust Half in a premium grade (completely unexpected)
Sent a box to PCGS of some raw stuff (I had been considering for a while)
Sent a box to Heritage for an upcoming venue (also in the works for a bit)
Got two coins back from PCGS (about 100 days - both nice CBH's)
Damn it, this coin thing ended up being a lot of work!!

I’ve been building a ms 67 S uncirculated womens quarters 2022 set. I’ve been lucky to win the Maya and the Sally at a great price. Added these couple days ago. Only the Anna May left. Goal was to pay under $100 total. Looks like I will come in way under

Awesome 1943 Walker @Eldorado9! One of my parents born in 1943, so always a favorite year of mine. She looks like she has good luster if you rolled her in slab.
An unexpected addition to my personal collection arrived in time for coffee this morning after a recent negotiation with a long time collector friend who has supplied me with several rare pieces over the years. Atwood-Coffee NJ 290B, a 32mm black hard rubber token from the Gloucester Ferry Company is one of four issues of the company, 5 and 10 denominations in black and brick red hard rubber. The 5 black is by far the scarcest token in the series - it has been at least 25+ years since one has been available so I wasn't going to let this one get away. One more brick in place while trying to build an impossible wall.
I knew I was looking at something special. Pogue’s didnt really do anything less than the best, so what you have there is freaking Godzilla! Wow Buddy! Newp?

I'm a sucker for high grade bust halves, especially those with provanence. Pouge had a great eye. The luster on this coin is over the tope for something from 1824!

Won number 5 this week. FDOI which is nice. A complete set. I’m learning to set achievable goals and not feel the need to compete with deeper pockets. Set a goal of all 5 for under $100 total. Came in about $8 under 😁.
A cup of morning blend and now to build a 5- slab display case.
Here is some cheap, interesting fun that Im enjoying on this foggy morning with my coffee.
This token represents an early form of American military "challenge coins." Those familiar will remember that challenge coins are carried by members of a unit and once a "challenge" is presented at a bar, everyone needs to bring them out. The unfortunate bastard that left his in the barracks is buying drinks 🍸 😆
The story goes that during the Korean War the 17th Infantry Regiments's Colonel, William "Buffalo Bill" Quinn who got his nickname from the call sign he used, had these struck for his men. Rather than keeping these nickel sized coins in their pockets, a hole was made so the soldiers could wear it around their necks with their dog tags.
Pretty neat! The Buffalo is well executed. A little research and I see that these come with other dates, and this is the second year of issue after 1950-1951. Have seen 1950-1953, 1950-1955. Might be cool to collect them all.
The 1812 date on the reverse represents the first year the 17th Infantry was activated during the War of 1812.

Impulsively bought two coins this week that both happen to be dated 1877. The Seated half is AU58 CAC and the Trade dollar is XF45 CAC.
The Trade dollar is by far the crustiest coin I own. Still trying to decide if it’s too crusty for my liking.
