Let's talk about our "Jimmy the Greek specials"

perkdogperkdog Posts: 29,342 ✭✭✭✭✭

So we have some "Action" guys here, myself included so I figured we could do a thread where we can discuss our picks, parlays and games that "Can't miss" but often times do

I went 0-4 and 1-4 last week on 2 parlays so I'm looking at turning my dismal showing around

I lost 2 of 3 after going 4-4 on week 1. I haven’t looked yet but should have a take on TNF soon.

    Baltimore-3
    Chiefs-6

this season, at least to start out, i budgeted 200 clams for gambling purposes. half of that i stuck on the Chargers to win it all, and the other half was for weekly action. i wanted to see if i could make some magic happen with 100 before it unmagically disappeared. i'm up a meager $30.35 after two weeks. the Raiders' meltdown really stung me; it prevented my ROI from surpassing 200% heading into week 3. but that my friends is gambling -- if its and buts were candy and nuts, we'd all have a Merry Christmas.

letting it all ride in week 3. for some reason my book doesn't have a ML posted for LAC-Jack, so i used a teaser just the same. if the Chargers can't beat the Jaguars and/or the Bengals can't beat the Jets, then i should be forced to reload. at least that's how my distorted mind views it.

oh, and just in case anyone was wondering, the reason i post a screenshot of my bets is to hold myself accountable. i've been known to make an impulsive -- and therefore foolish -- wager or 10 in the past, so knowing that everyone can see my action helps prevent that from happening...........in a weird sort of way.

GL to all in week 3

    At draft kings I'm showing
    Chiefs - 5.5
    Ravens -2.5

I like those two and also
    Titans +2 against the Raiders
Bills, maybe the moneyline against Dolphins but the spread looks pretty good also.

My thoughts, the Titans head coach isn't going to stand for 3 bad games in a row.
I imagine he's pretty ticked off and has them practicing really hard this week for the Raiders game
I think they're going to click in week 3 and show they're still a pretty decent team.

Regardless of what the Dolphin's offense was able to do against the Ravens, they're not going to
repeat that performance against the Bills.

Ravens also will be ticked off, I think Lamar and co. score early, late and often against the Pats.

Rams seem to stomp the Cardinals on the road and vis versa. Don’t really care what Murray and Tua did in one quarter of football. Can they do it for 60 minutes like Mahomes and Allen.
That embarrassing playoff loss is enough for me to add the Rams -3.5 to the lock of the week

I asked this somewhere else but I didn't see an answer. I am curious....it seems like there should be great value possibly in-game when the team you like to win gets down in whatever scenario. Are you given then an in-game betting opportunity? I see win percentages during games, and this is what I am basing this question on.

    Yes.

Case in point when the Giants were down 13-0 to Tennessee week 1, the Giants ML was +1000 and two of my buddies split a $100 bet and won $500 each when the Giants came back and won

I have been meaning to ask. I saw one of the sports betting commercials (think it was draftkings) that said you win if your team gets up by 10 points. Is this real?

If so, is this to get more wagers as you wouldn't have to wait until the end of the game?

    @2dueces there's a point spread but no ML, and that's what i don't get

@thisistheshow yes, some books have an in-game option, but they adjust the lines accordingly

Yes, if you bet the ML and your team.gets up by 10 points you win regardless of the final score

Tonight they will let you win if your team goes up by 7 you automatically win

$50 max bet and it's only good fir ML if you try to hedge and bet both teams it voids the bet

I think it may have to do with how they would be granted licenses and taxed. I live in MO which is also currently debating the issue, where as Kansas does have sports betting.

I live in Kansas and tried to open an account with draft kings, everything went fine until they tried to locate
my computer. Said they couldn't locate me. I think that is actually better for me, I have to drive to the casino
to place bets. If I sat at the computer and made bets I would probably overdue it. So I just use draft kings to
get the odds on the games.

@Darin @Alfonz24 So are you 2 going to Hollywood Casino to make your bets, or is there another venue close to the KC metro that I need to know about? I'm not sure what I was expecting the Hollywood sports book to look like, but will admit that it exceeded whatever low expectations I had. I was actually mildly impressed.

I just caught the tail end of the radio discussion this week about the status of the gaming bill in Missouri. It's passed the House, but still caught up in the Senate??? Then something about a special session coming up this fall, but the bill isn't on the docket unless the governor adds it??? Otherwise, Missourians have to wait until the regular session resumes in January before they take it up???

Last night until the last play every teaser would have hit. It’s called a 4 way. No matter who you picked or over/under Vegas paid.

The long delay for the first down mark and the last 9 seconds makes me go hmmmm.

I am near St Lou. I quit casinos when I moved to St. Lou as I could never win down here. Did great in Northern IL and Vegas. As for sports betting I quit long before that as I bet with my heart, not my head.

The only reason I knew about the KS - MO sports betting issue was a news story that the KS betting sites were turning away people with a MO ISP address.

    count,
I've been going to the Kansas Star casino in Mulvane, south of Wichita.
Boot Hill in Dodge is closer to me but last I heard they don't have an in house sportsbook yet but should very soon.
What I don't like about both those casinos' is they got rid of poker (Texas hold em) when covid broke out
and they decided not to bring it back.

I was surprised this answer was on Jeopardy today... category was sports wagering.

Answer- Because Darin bet on them to win the game.

Question- What was the reason the Chiefs fumbled the first punt of the game on their own 3 yard line.

Oh crap. I read it wrong. That’s almost like hitting 5 lottos #’s and having 17 instead of 16. When I played high stakes black Jack I had a winning night and I saw a buddy of mine near the roulette wheel. We stopped and chatted and I flipped a black chip on 22. As we were talking the dealer said 22. 35-1. It was a good night.

here's my take after 3 weeks: it's going to be difficult to make money this season, fellas. there is some serious parity going on. with the exception of one or two games, last week's lines were tighter than a drum. same holds true this week. basically Vegas is saying, "go ahead and bet, sucka. but you're better off flipping a coin."

now for last week. ever place a wager and feel an increasing amount of unease as kickoff approached? that happened to me with the Chargers. but here's the thing, it shouldn't have. after all, they were playing.........Jacksonville. at home. with Herbert announced as the starter. i'd estimate that 98.5% of the straight-up picks i saw went the direction of L.A., and the other 1.5% probably just finished snorting something before they picked the Jags. yet after watching the money flow (i'm an incessant line watcher), the little voice in my head told me that something was up. sure enough, about 5 minutes into that game i was looking for a fork to stick in myself. the only saving grace was that i knew my parlay was shot to complete hell early on as opposed to the final play of the game.

so with all of that said, naturally i hopped back on the horse and fired up a 125$ 2-teamer :D

    good luck mis amigos 🍻

    -100 for the season

He got up shaking his head to clear the cobwebs. Staggered a few feet and buckled. No way he returns. So the team doctors say he staggered because of a back injury? What BS. I’ve seen plays stopped for much much less and the player remained in concussion protocol for an entire week. Tua trotted out and played the entire 2nd half.
So I guess if you say you hurt your back, privates, butt you can beat the protocol. BS
