i knew that little jaunt into the Profit Club would be short-lived. one shot and i walked out with Treviya Lawrence. :s

i was on tilt and stuck this one in right before the SF-LAC game last night. was too tired (and too lazy.......and too ticked) to post it until this morning.

i sure hope Jaleen Hurts outplays Tay Heinicke tonight

I need Philly to win and in another parlay they need to win by more than 2.5

@galaxy27 We are rooting for Philly tonight my friend

  • perkdogperkdog Posts: 29,361 ✭✭✭✭✭

I should add that both my parlays are still going because I was smart enough to NOT trust the Cowboys, I knew they would figure out a way to lose so I covered them +7.5 and +3.5

I think it's a lock that the Cowboys beat the Vikings this week. B) The Cowboys will come in feeling like they should have won their last game. And the Vikings will come in knowing they didn't truly deserve the win. It will be a perfect storm of the psychological loggerhead variety. This will be the game that propels the Cowboys along, and most likely the undoing of Minnesota.

darin is going to get after me for the length of this post, but i've gotta vent one last time.

i had a little voice speaking to me throughout that game tonight. it kept saying the same thing, over and over.

    "stop betting on the NFL."

every time the 4-5, 11-point underdog Commanders imposed their will and converted a 3rd down on the undefeated Eagles in their own house -- there were 12 such instances -- i heard "stop betting on the NFL."

when the Eagles had the ball, down 2, and the refs missed one of the most egregious facemasks you'll ever see, resulting in a turnover and 3 more crucial points for Washington, i heard "stop betting on the NFL."

when the Eagles completed a bomb and were on their way to taking the lead late in the 4th, only for the receiver to get up, get hit and fumble the ball, i heard "stop betting on the NFL."

and finally, when the Eagles were on the verge of getting the ball back one last time in an attempt to win the game, only to be flagged after Heinicke gave himself up, i heard "did you hear me? this is the last time i'm gonna say this -- STOP BETTING ON THE NFL."

the entire game was a tease. the Eagles stayed just close enough to give me hope that they might pull the game out. but deep down i knew that wasn't going to happen with the way it was playing out. if you had no idea what the records of those two teams were, anyone who watched that game would have said that Washington was the team without a loss.

bottom line, there is no sure thing in the NFL. to this point i have completely lost track of the number of huge dogs that have won outright already this season. any random NFL game is unpredictability at its finest. if i had been a smart man i would have ejected weeks ago when i admitted that i had no feel when it came to handicapping these games. but, i'm stubborn like that. i've never been one to shy away from a challenge. that said, i am indeed going to cut my losses and heed the advice of the little voice that spoke to me incessantly tonight.

i wish you guys the best of luck the rest of the way; here's hoping each of you rake. fret not, as i will continue to mindlessly chirp in this thread -- i still have some leftover loot in my sportsbook account and i'm going to direct my attention to golf, a sport i think i actually know a thing or two about. but no more NFL chatter from me, because at this point in time i'm man enough to admit that i don't know jack shit.

    The NFL is pure insanity

That Facemask non call was so absurd I couldn't do anything but laugh when I saw it

"Don't bet on the NFL" is the smartest thing I've heard in this thread

Galaxy- i like your long posts. When I teased you about one the other day it was mainly because of the humor I found in the contrast between it and a post from perk. I had just read a post from him “Bills are frauds”, and then you came out with the epic “take the macro view, not the micro view, bills will be fine post” which was fairly lengthy. Enjoyed both posts, just saying perk gets his point across in a lot less words. 😆

I was up several hundred bucks but now up just 40. I’m going to try it at least one more week and might quit if it doesn’t go well.

first off, hell of a week dueces

second, let me get this straight. the only team that hasn't beaten Green Bay the past 7 weeks was Dallas. then the Cowboys turned around the very next week and beat a one-loss team in their house by 37 points. and if you watched the Dallas-Minny line throughout the week, money poured in on the Cowboys. that game started at a pick 'em and went to Dal -2.5 prior to kickoff.

    so let's recap, shall we?

the Cowboys just lost to a Green Bay team that can't beat anyone, the one-loss Vikings just beat Buffalo at Buffalo, then Dallas goes to Minnesota and all of a sudden it's time to open the vault on the Cowboys. then right on cue, they beat the brakes off of the Vikings.

    got it.

when an inexplicable outcome mirrors the inexplicable money flow that preceded it, i can't help but think the NFL is rigged in some way, shape or form. i'm open to all reasonable explanations. until then, i will continue to believe that someone knows something and things are not on the up and up. i have seen this exact thing happen time and time again this season.

  • DarinDarin Posts: 6,247 ✭✭✭✭✭

Galaxy, remember when you wrote the same post before the bucs, ravens game? How all the money was going on the bucs? The ravens won, your theory is disproven.
    The fix isn’t in.
    KC and colts same thing

I never said it was an exact science darin. What I am telling you, however, is if someone were to swim downstream any time a line moves at least 2 points, that individual would, unequivocally, be a profitable gambler this season. Watch it play out that way as many times as I have this season and you can't help but question things. If I was a smart man I would implemented this strategy all season long.

Feel free to explain away yesterday's game if you'd like. I watched every second of it and it looked like the entire 8-1, undefeated at home, just beat Buffalo in Buffalo Minnesota team laid money on a Cowboys team that couldn't beat the Green Bay Texans the week prior. It was over within 5 minutes.

And for the record, last week's line moved 1.5 points in favor of GB. They won outright. Bettors couldn't wait to park money on the worthless Packers against Dallas, then they turned around and backed up the truck on the Cowboys when they played Minnesota? Again, feel free to explain away that one.

Tonight's game has gone from 7.5 to 10. We shall see if the Cardinals even sniff a victory

For Sunday. How did everyone do?

I made 100 off a couple games and missed out on a $500 win over TCU not covering 2.5

So I went into Sunday up a about 40, made a 100 on Washington then blew it all on Minny.

I didn't even like the game but my buddy threw 200 on it and has been on fire so I followed him and lost all my winnings.

    Just another ruined Sunday

Galaxy, if forced to bet on Dallas or minnesota I would have taken the cowboys. It was like the vikes waged ww 3 on buffalo, a lot of energy expended. And with Dallas pissed about losing to gb it wasnt a stretch to foresee minny losing. I picked Dallas in the contest and I wasn’t the only one. The blowout was a surprise but not the loss.
The line tonight is moving because az said Murray won’t play

I told you guys the Cowboys would win. It was my lock. I am pretty sure that my Pats will lose to the Vikings. Should be a lock. Why? The Vikings are motivated. By shame. This is huge in pro sports. Neither the Pats not the Vikings scored an offensive touchdown yesterday. The Pats have a historically bad o line that got worse. > @galaxy27 said:

Really liking some dogs this week
    New England
    Tennessee
    Chicago

    Chargers at -4.5 is tempting

Also think the Bills at -8.5 are a good bet. Nationally televised game. Back in Detroit where they looked mighty comfortable last week. 190 yards rushing and it wasn’t Josh Allens legs this time.

I hate the chargers. They get a td at end of game, I’m thinking good kick the extra point for the tie and win it by at least 3 in ot and I push. So when I see they’re going for 2 I know I can’t win my bet so now I’m yelling stop them! Of course they make it and win by a point. The thing is I’m pretty sure they did the same thing earlier this year. Never betting on them again.😡

Perk they had 2 total td’s and 4 field goals. I needed 4 td’s to win my bet. Just my luck they couldn’t get the ball in the end zone😭
Next week they play cincy so since our D probably won’t stop burrow, mahomes should be chucking the ball all over the field. Mahomes least amount of passing yards in the last 6 games is 320.
