Does anyone here own a Mint State 1896-o Half? I'd love to see a few examples, even if in circulated condition.

Recently shared this... I don't mind resharing it! BTW, slight star doubling...

Thanks Tim, such a great looking 96-o! Lots of luster on that baby....I had been reading the Bowers Guide Book of Barber Coinage, and started to get all romantic about the 96-o, plus I need one for my set...thus the question. It's just a great old-time Barber rarity...And damn, I want one bad!

Not many people own an example above XF condition. It's a date that gets hoarded.

It's an incredible rarity. 9 total coins certified by PCGS in grades MS65 and above! The 96-o is way more rare than even the "key" date 1921-s Walker, which has double the population in MS65 and above, and sells for multiples more. Congrats guys...I'm late to the game, but I'm on the hunt....

Every once in a while you need to send one back. I was truly upset this dud didn't pan out. You wouldn't think right off that this one was a cleaned coin! from the pictures. So unfortunate!

    Very tough in AU- nice!

    Here's a VF 25 '07 S with a RPM:

I picked it up raw a couple of years ago and sent it in for grading. It came back from PCGS as a 25. I guess I forgot to take photos after grading- on my to do list.

@JeffMTampa Jeff, love the half dollar mintmark repunching! S/S North.

1907-S quarter in more of a worn grade but still retaining a full LIBERTY headband for a Fine grade:

Edit: 1907-S Half out of my collection:

1907 O BQ with a weird strike-thru on the OBV:

There's also a clash under Liberty's ear. You can see the back of the eagles neck and ribbon (from the REV). That must have been some die clash! Does anyone looking have another example of this clash?

@JeffMTampa Jeff, if you look closely here, I also see funkiness / depressions on the obverse of this '07-O BQ:

@sedulous Tim that '14 looks great with your new pics.
I'm excited to share a new purchase that'll be on its way to my collection soon. I had to pay up for it, but it's been years looking for the right one and this one is it:

    You got it! Wonderful!

That '14-P, Jed, is just about the perfect look IMO.!

'95-O should be better in hand once received.

My first pickup for a new set I am starting. Going to try to assemble a complete set of Barber Halves to go with my Quarter set. All PCGS CAC

Great pick up. i assembled a XF-AU set twice. The majority was CAC. The 09-O is a tough coin. Great start. Good luck.

Thanks guys it will be a multi year adventure as I have a few other sets in the process. My quarter set is #3 CAC set will never come close to first or second. At 75% on that set. Lenny has contributed a few coins for that set.

@willy Just look at the penmanship on the envelope too! Most people just aren't that neat anymore it seems. Good luck and have fun with your halves.

The coin came from the purchase that HarlanJ Berk recently made. The envelope is from around 1910-1930. I bought it the second I saw it on there website, the envelope sealed the deal.

One thing that I am interested in learning more about is the somewhat reduced 3D amplification of lettering near the top and bottom of Dimeman's AU50 PCGS 1914-P...

Take a look at the Reverse lettering... specifically at the "TE" in STATES and the "D" in DOLLAR:

ANY THOUGHTS? as to why that is on this coin. Thanks!
