While you are at it, grab a First Token - that's the ACG slab (although Conder says they were not officially licensed), and sometimes you will see an NGS slab on fleaBay. As long as you are building the set

Thanks for the recommendation. I actually picked up a First Token slab on the BST from a fellow forum member. It is FTGS on my collection list below:

Received the Long Beach holder yesterday and after an hour of Goo Gone scrubbing to remove the remnants of the old sticker, the new pair is ready for a formal introduction here. Not sure how rare these two "half's" are but I'm happy to add them to the collection:

The nice thing about the first-gen PCI and the holder HALLMARK slabs is you know they were accurately, albeit technically, graded. It makes it that much sweeter when you find one.

I'm a fan of the Compugrade slab - pretty hard to find anything other than Morgans in these holders. They were well made and I like being able to see the coin info on the top of the slab.

And today at the TNA, Kevin Kell has a new one - never before seen:

And when I asked where he had gotten it from, he pointed to a guy all the way across the room in a distinctive shirt. Who turns out to be a friend of mine. Who had them made for the Houston Money Show Scout Merit Badge class. Happened to have some quarters, and some 1950 3c stamps lying around!

My source says 40 were made, the NGC database shows (estimates, I didn't probe all the cert#s)

-001 to -042 with 2005-D Oregon 50SQ
-043 to -082 with 2010-D Yellowstone ATB quarters
-083 to -122 with the 2012-D El Yunque (PR) ATB quarters
-123 to -162 with 2010-D Yellowstone ATB again
-163 to -169 with 2005-D Kansas 50SQ
-170 with 2005-D West Virginia 50SQ
-171 to -178 with 2000-P Massachusetts 50SQ
-179 to -202 with 1999-D New Jersey 50SQ

All Scout samples are incredibly rare to see on eBay. Scouts seem to hang on to them.

It took a while to find my photos but here are the ones I used to have.

Back in the day, I remember meeting Patti Finner at one of the Hyatt shows in Dearborn. She had a Girl Scout slab on display in the case where they were promoting the ANA and/or CSNS. After a brief discussion about the history of the slab, she mentioned that she was having problems getting the stamps for them. Challenge, anyone? Several eBay clicks later, a full, uncut sheet of Girl Scout stamps was headed my way. Ran into her again at a later show and couldn't wait to give them to her. She immediately pulled out her checkbook and tried to pay me for them, which I refused (although I did try to swap them straight up for one of the GS slabs, which she refused). I guess that's my little contribution to sample slab history.

Ironically, I don't think I ever owned one of the GS versions.

From the pics they appear to be loose inside the slab.

Not really loose - it's a friction fit, but there's not a lot of wiggle room... they don't move with a casual thump or two.

I apologize up front because my photography skills leave something to be desired. However, TPG history and old/rare slabs is something I really enjoy so I thought I would share some of my collection.

I haven't been able to find out much about International Coin Registry, LTD. It appears to be a photo cert inside Capital plastic. Originally, I thought it might have been done after the fact, but I have found a few photos of others online so I believe they were made this way.

I know that there have been several NGC Gen 2.1's listed, but I thought I would share my examples.

Unfortunately, the 1884 has a crack in the slab. I know 2.1's are on fire right now, but does anyone know how much a crack like this will affect the value?

An ANACS Gen 3 has already been posted, but as @pointfivezero stated these are actually pretty rare. Here are my two examples.

I have another rare ANACS slab. It's an ANACS Gen 7.0. At first glance it might look like your typical ANACS "quick release" blue label, but it's not. It is the first example of the newly designed blue label holder (note the placement of the ANACS logo on the front of the slab, and absence of the web address on the back). It's not quite as rare as the ANACS Gen 3, but it's still a pretty rare holder.

Here's a DGS (Dominion Grading Service) sample slab. DGS was owned by David Lawrence Rare Coins (DLRC) and used the PCI shell/slab. I doubt it adds any value, but this is also an error slab. The label says it's a Denver mint mark, but it's actually a Philly.

I'm off tomorrow so the weekend has started for me. This isn't "rare" per se, but it is not common either, atleast here in the United States. I have a few of these slabs, just because I think they are cool, but this is the only GENI (a French TPG) slab with a U.S. coin that I have seen, which adds to its "rarity".
