I couldn't resist - just iPhone photos but I like the coins. I could have grabbed another set the morning these were available for an hour but just resisted the urge! Previous purchase was the 2019 reverse proof that still sits in the box unopened...is it really a coin then?

Concave on Reverse

Convex on Obverse

Why Concave and Convex?

At first, looked cut with something? But when I further examined, the issue on the obverse looks as if it's convex (raised appearance) ? The two issues on the reverse, does look concave (hole appearance). So why would one side look convex and another side look concave? Wouldn't both sides appear concave if cut?
That's the first issue. The other issue is on the date. Right of the "9"? What in the world?

The '43-S appears to be processed, that is, plated. That's probably what's causing the illusion of an RPM.

Over the last 6 weeks I have been looking for a Ty2 Liberty Double Eagle for the Daniel Carr 1848 CAL overstrike. With only one week left to get a suitable candidate I decided to get this one. It's now off to DC for a face lift. I can't wait to see this one and the 1908-O I ordered.
